What? Sources don't reset; they advance and continue forever. There aren't enough to account for everything that could happen, especially since they all start at zero, and they don't all contain the same amount of information. Logically, there are infinite outcomes, but a finite number of universes.

I could have sworn it was said at one point that Sources start over after so long? Regardless, also consider that I'm not talking about specific outcomes, but I'm considering, for example, that three occurrences of D-day, despite the fact that D-day probably happened a bit differently in each universe, is still an occurrence if D-day. It's a beachhead invasion of Italy, just like the next beachhead invasion of Italy.

When you look at it in broad enough terms, the fact that so many similar occurrences happen is because there are only so many set patterns that events can follow. Start an empire? Been done. That empire falls? Also done. Saved lives in a warzone? Done many times. Lives- even the more exciting ones- run on parallels so much. At this point I'm having trouble expressing it in any deeper manner. Everything runs on parallels because when you disregard the more minute details, there isn't much else that even could happen.

Let's get back to the mission everyone. The next floor is a little ways up, so we will have to climb the escape ladder to get to it.

*points at the ladder*

Sjin: Aye-aye, Cap'n!
*Climbs up the ladder*

It is mine, as well. However, for each sources, there are at least millions of paths. And because of the very, very different ways each source can turn out, the surface has only been scratched for all the possible combinations.

But even if the ratio if Paths to Sources is 1000000 to 1, there are still an inexpressibly large amount of Sources. In combination with how many times Sources have reset over however long Existence has been a thing, how many times Paths get screwed with by Tier Fours, and how much can be done over the "lifespan" of a universe, I'd say just about everything short of extra-universal events have happened.

That is mine as well, and I believe David's.

I'm not understanding why one would think almost nothing has been done unless it's a matter of perception on every other aspect of this topic, then.

How about a knuckle sandwich?

Sjin: Nah, too many bones. I should have brought lunch...

But for example, there aren't that many human Earths, and most of those are so different, they'd be nothing like our world, or the RP world. And if each progresses at a comparable rate, there will always be advancements.

Is this just a matter of how many universes we as players imagine there are that exist? Because my headcanon is that there are so many universes that I can't even begin to fathom a fraction of how many there are, but there aren't unlimited.

What Sjin said, pretty much.

Oh, I see. I said this because I meant that what Sjin said was the explanation of what I don't agree with, not that I don't agree with Sjin.
<Snipped quote by Galaxy Raider>

"What don't you agree with?"

I'm so lost right now. Let me try to back it up a but then bring it forward some.

"Ergo, it's easy to do something new when not much has been done."

I say that almost everything has been done since there are so many universes out there in general that whether most of them are copies or not doesn't matter, since there could still be enough "original" universes to say almost everything has been done.

Sjin: ... I could go for a sandwich about now. Preferably one with pickles....
