Cause the magic that the rune uses is very little for those functions. And the high amount of magicules within the rune allows it to last that long.

Theoretically they can, but no. So like the runes that interact with a faucet will practically last forever as long as the rune is not damaged. It’ll lose strength very, very slowly but due to the function of it. It’ll be way past our lifetimes for that to happen without any additional magic to give it.
