Yumi may have forgotten about Viral's healing abilities, or just wasn't confident they would work well in his current condition. Either way she was adamant about bandaging her friend up at the expense of her own dignity, not at all comfortable doing what she was even around someone she knew. "I can't answer that... But I'm just trying to take care of you, I'd do this for anyone," she said, tying a careful knot to make sure the makeshift bandage was secure, "Maybe not the same way, but I'd try helping the others too." Aside from making quite the scene she saw no fault in what she was doing, it was just natural to want to help. Once the wounds on Viral's head were covered up she slipped her now vest back on, frowning as she glanced at her bare arms before shrugging slightly. It was better than just being in a camisole at least, and it was comfortable to wear all things considered. Sorting out her clothing she moved back for the door, pausing and looking over at the Beastman curiously. "No... I don't want you to act weak... I'm just saying it's okay if you're vulnerable sometimes, or hurt, or need help. Everyone needs a hand now and again, it doesn't make you any less of a man or a warrior. No one person can do it all Viral, that's all I'm trying to say." Pushing open the door Yumi stepped back out, holding it open for her friend with a small smile. "It's what...? You can tell me what you were going to say, I won't tease you or anything for it."

Takeshi might have told T'charrl to make his mother wait a bit if he wasn't so afraid of being flayed for mouthing off. Okay, so the Kaesstrian had some family matters to attend to, but they couldn't take that long. Chances were they would be on Kaesstra for at least a few days so there was bound to be ample time for them to go have fun together. He wanted that and he was sure Shu did as well. "If you've got some Prince-ly duties to take care of first then that's fine, no problem," he remarked, shrugging his shoulders with a smile, "We'll have time to do what we want eventually, so don't worry about it." While T'charrl was busy he figured that Shu could show him how to swing in trees, seeing as the little guy was so intent on doing that together. It was a bit daunting still, Takeshi had a real tough time envisioning swinging about with just his bare hands. It would probably sting like hell too, scraping up against the bark and all, but he was going to give it his best shot. "Then I just don't get bit! Or I bite first," the Saiyan said, grinning as he made a biting gesture, "It won't be the first time I hunted something dangerous, you know. I've eaten some nasty creatures, like an alligator. They're kind of like those lizard people we fought on Shaharia, only... They crawl around and have really long mouths. And they are really yummy when cooked with some butter!" Oooh, they should try getting some alligator meat when they got home! There were none around his home though, or East City as far as he could recall. It might take a bit of exploring then to find their meal.

The conversation thus far was between himself and T'charrl, but what did Shu want out of all this? It was a given the young Saiyan would want to play, he always wanted to play. For the sake of asking Takeshi went ahead and questioned his brother, not surprised by the reply he got. Yeah, that was about what he had expected, Shu would get a kick out of getting to see the planet in greater depth. Plus they could do their tree swinging stuff, or play games as they explored, there were plenty of possibilities for them. "I think the Queen might be just a bit pissed at us if you're not back to normal," Takeshi agreed, smiling over at T'charrl before turning back to Shu. Hm, how were they going to help him anyways? Glancing up at the ceiling and scratching his nose the older boy thought about it for a good moment, humming airily to himself. "Well... You said you were missing just a piece, right T'charrl? Try telling us what that one piece is you're missing and maybe we can fill in the blanks for you? We might be able to describe it better if it's only a small bit, not nearly as hard as describing a whole person, you know?" Toning it down a bit his cheeks flushed slightly, folding his arms once more as he looked to the side. "Or... You know... I can try drawing it for you if you don't think my art is total crap..."
Viral couldn't use Ki, everyone and their mother's knew that by now. That didn't prevent him from being a perfectly able warrior however and once he had healed it wouldn't stop him them either. It wasn't so much a desire to emulate or even copy Viral as it was a want to try it for herself that brought Yumi to her decision. She knew multiple forms of martial arts after all. Not as many as the Beastman, but enough to call herself an expert in many. There was no reason she couldn't do as he did and just fight with her hands. If need be she would use Ki, that went without saying, but she wanted to try. Plus she figured that having someone fighting alongside him in the same way might help Viral feel a bit better about his lack of energy that they had. When she peered up at him as they walked she noticed the trickling blood, deciding to do something now rather than wait until they were at the kitchen. Grabbing Viral's paw she tugged him to the nearest room, forcing him into the supply room and shutting the door behind them. With naught else to use for bandages Yumi awkwardly pulled off her shirt, going about tearing off the sleeves to make bandages. "Just s-shut up and let me help you," Yumi said, her face red as can be, "If it were anyone else I wouldn't be doing this! Now lower your head so I can get you covered up." Feeling all sorts of embarrassed she used one bit of cloth to lightly dab at Viral's head, cleaning up some of the blood as best she could. Once she'd done that she took a long strip and gently wrapped it around his skull to cover the wounds, tying it off once it had come full circle. "You don't have to sound so tough all the time, you know," she said softly, smiling a bit as she slid her now sleeveless shirt back on, "No one is invincible Viral, including you. Letting that front go now and again won't make us think any less of you."

"All that's going to have changed when we get back, yeah? I mean I'm sure your mom's been busy at getting everyone to get along and all, so we can probably go wherever we want!" That was the Queen's big deal while they were there, getting both groups of Kaesstrians to live in harmony. With someone as crazy as the General removed from power it just might be possible, albeit there were bound to be those still loyal to the old regime. Always was, and those people weren't going to go away quietly. Even if things weren't as peaceful as they might hope it wasn't like T'charrl was going to be alone, he had nothing to worry about. Cocking his head to the side curiously hearing his friend's explanation Takeshi crossed his legs, leaning forward a bit as he placed his hands on his knees. "Predators, eh? I bet they probably taste good!" he said with a smirk, licking his lips and rubbing his hands together, "We should try finding some to chow on! And if it's not all forest then that just means there's all the more reason to go explore, you know? See what's out there and all! And don't worry about danger, you'll have Shu and I with you the whole time. I really doubt any wild animals will give us too much trouble. Never met something I couldn't beat and eat!" T'charrl didn't exactly eat most animals or meats, but that didn't mean he and Shu couldn't chow down. Food aside Takeshi really did want to see more of Kaesstra this time around, and his little brother probably did as well. Reaching over he placed an arm around Shu's shoulders, pulling him to his side and poking his stomach playfully, "What do you think buddy, should we go explore with T'charrl?"
Yumi cringed slightly when Viral snapped again, her ears folding flat in disappointment as she looked down at her feet. Yeah, they all were trying but none of it was working. It was a bit upsetting that all of their efforts so far were for naught, and everyone was pretty much banking on Vegeta coming through in the clutch with a cure. She kept trying but didn't appear to make any real progress, not unless she could forcibly change Viral as she had done before. She could give him what he wanted, that breathing room, and it might just do some good. Having to focus on this issue constantly could wear anyone down, especially the person who was experiencing it. Okay, so maybe she'd been about this all wrong and she should be trying to distract Viral, not help him cope. Looking up at Viral she frowned seeing more blood trickling, thinking he'd only just pierced the skin before. She needed to do something about that first, but he'd probably kill her if they turned around and went back to Vegeta. "Beating them with my fists is a lot more satisfying though," Yumi replied, smiling slightly as she grabbed the Beastman's paw. Pulling him aside quickly she tugged him into the nearest room they could find open, another small supply closet. Her face already reddening from what she was about to do she reached down and took off her long shirt, wearing only a camisole underneath as she began tearing the sleeves into shreds. She was going to put it back on after she was done, but it was easier to work with it like this. "Lean down, please? I want to cover up those wounds of yours," she said, blushing quite a bit at having taken off the shirt. "We can't be doing anything when you're bleeding."

"Tch... Friends because they were told to... Those aren't friends, those are creeps who want something," Takeshi scoffed, frowning disdainfully. Like he had said he knew just how that was, nobles had done it to him with their children on Kortal. It was a smaller part of the reason he'd been so depressed on there, to think he was only being sought after because of who he was as the King's son and nothing else. Wanting to leave the whole Viral discussion alone now he mostly brushed off what was said, only offering a slight "Yeah" to confirm what T'charrl had asked. That wasn't wholly wrong, he and Viral were both friends and rivals, in his eyes at least. Still finding some juices on his fingers the Saiyan narrowed his eyes, giving the tips a quick licking to try and clean them off more thoroughly before asking Shu about playing on Kaesstra. He doubted he had to ask, knowing the little guy that was pretty much the only thing on his mind at the moment. His brother wouldn't be the only one wanting to play and have fun though, there was one other person in the room who probably did as well. "Yeah I'm sure, I wouldn't be asking if I weren't," Takeshi responded, grinning as he laid his head back against the wall. "If you don't know any places then we'll find one, no sweat. I mean look how big your planet is, and how much of it isn't all developed. We can find a neat place no problem, I'm sure. Somewhere maybe where no one else is, then we can do whatever we want." Shame that T'charrl hated water, they could look for a lake or something to go swimming in. Racing around in the trees might be their best option, there were certainly no shortages of those above ground. "If you can't find us a place then whatever, we'll find a place. No problem, you know? Just come have fun with us!"
Yumi felt the only way she could calm Viral right now was just be there for him. Until she really understood this calming ability of hers she couldn't use it on demand, she'd have to settle for some simple comfort then. Concerned too that harming his head might do some damage she took to his side quickly, linking an arm around his waist in case he needed a bit of support. "Okay, maybe fighting isn't a real option just yet... But anything else, whatever you need, I'm here. I'm trying to give you actual hope here, Viral. You're going to be getting better with Vegeta working so much, so you'll be fighting again soon enough too. I know it seems a long way off now if not impossible but you are going to get there. I wouldn't dare lie and try to give you empty promises, you know I wouldn't." Really the hardest part of this whole recovery was going to be getting his genes or whatever back to normal, everything else from therein should fall into place. Being healthy physically meant he could train, and training and fighting meant Viral would be happier. It was coming, she knew it was, so they just had to hold on a bit longer was all. Smiling up at Viral she eased her grip on him, keeping her hand loosely on his side. "It's going to be so exciting, don't you think? I've got Ki and all, but I really think I can fight without it now. I just feel... Different, I don't know how to explain it. But while everyone else is flying around and shooting all over the place you and I can kick some butt the old fashioned way," Yumi added, flexing her free arm, "We'll show them how real warriors fight, right?"

"Hmph... I know how that feels, believe me," Takeshi agreed, frowning as he took the pineapple from Shu. "There were loads of Saiyans who tried to get friendly with me when I was back on Kortal. They pretended like they liked me because I was the King's kid, they probably had something to gain, you know? They can all go crawl back to whatever hole they came out of, I hate people like that." It wasn't the end of the world if you didn't make friends of your own kind. T'charrl had everyone on the ship, and that was no small number of people in of itself. If you figured too those they had met in the rebellion would get along with the Kaesstrian then he had even more friends than he knew. Time would tell whether they were real friends or not, it all depended on if they hung around after the war or if people went off on their own. The twins Sasha and Ricken were alright, and Leto really wasn't that bad aside from his weird habits. There were a few people Takeshi would be disappointed if they vanished, especially when it didn't feel like they had known some of them all that long. "You think Viral sees me as an enemy? Really?" he asked, his brow furrowing a bit puzzled. Handing over a ring of pineapple to both Shu and T'charrl respectively Takeshi placed the remaining fruit back on the tray, using his already dirty shirt as a towel. "I don't know why he would, it's not like I'm trying to hurt the guy or anything. If anything I've been wanting him to get better, that's all. Can we just drop this? I feel weird talking about it." Or he just felt weird talking about personal things in general, it was easier to keep it all to himself. Shu and T'charrl had to have something to discuss too, something not related to him.

Shu looked like he really enjoyed the pineapple, that was good. Weird too, Takeshi had sworn they'd had some before. Maybe mixed up with a whole lot of other fruits before, that could be why the little guy didn't know what the flavor was like. As usual it was the simple pleasures that got Shu all happy, lucky kid. "Eh? What did I tell you about eating bugs off of me though?" he asked, giving Shu a look before smirking, reaching over and lightly flicking his brother's nose. "We should start thinking about what we're going to do on Kaesstra pretty soon, don't you think? We'll be there in a bit and there's a whole ton of world we haven't even seen. Plus... I guess I sort of did promise to try tree swinging next time, didn't I?" That was going to be... Interesting. Takeshi didn't have a tail like Shu did so he wasn't wholly sure how that was going to work out. Plus Shu was just better built for that sort of thing, the older boy had a feeling it was going to be terribly awkward for him to try this. Folding his arms over his chest the Saiyan let out a long yawn, turning back to T'charrl with a smile. "We've got to do stuff too, you know. We'll see what your mother wants obviously, but you'd better believe we're dragging you out to play with us. That way too you can show us all the neat places to play around in, yeah?"
Viral was strong, there was no refuting that. He just wasn't at the King's level yet though, none of them were. That was going to take time to reach, and even so their best chances were still fighting together. In addition to that Viral was going to need time just to regain his former strength, all the more reason for this to be a group battle. With her hand still on the Beastman's shoulder Yumi smiled sadly, giving him a small patting. "You'll get your chance, that's just not right now. For the time being you need to focus on getting better, that's more important. After that then you can go fight." It was unfair to think that Viral was the only person who wanted to fight the King, or wanted revenge. Near everyone on the ship had been harmed in some way by that man, directly or indirectly. Each person on board with perhaps the exception of T'charrl had a bone to pick with the Saiyans, all the more reason they should all fight. Watching as Viral turned away she glanced down at his paws, shifting uncomfortably at the blood on them. He was hurting himself... Again... This wasn't right. Hurrying after her friend she linked an arm around his waist, offering support without saying as much as she looked up at him somberly. "You won't lose your mind... I won't let you. I'm here, for whatever you need. If yelling helps, or fighting, or whatever you need, I'll help you. I can talk to you or try calming you, I'll do whatever it takes. Vegeta can handle the medicine side, I'll worry about keeping you calm and relaxed. Will you let me?"

"I mean... We all think of you as our friend. Shu, myself, Vegeta and Yumi. I don't know about Viral, but I'd bet the twins and Kabocha do. Haku might, though it's hard to tell with that kid..." Takeshi mumbled, scratching at his head with a sigh, "But yeah, you've got plenty of friends on the ship. And I bet you'll make some of your own when we get back to Kaesstra. And who knows who you'll meet if you travel again, I bet you'll end up with all kinds of friends before long." Hopefully by then too they wouldn't all be people associated by war. There were a handful of people that they had met during their time with the rebels, some he wouldn't mind spending a bit more time with. There was this innate worry though that come the end of the fighting they may never see one another again. If that was the case then fine, not much they could do about it. But Takeshi really wasn't a fan of seeing anyone leave, not someone he considered a comrade and perhaps a friend too. T'charrl was having a field day with the Saiyan's hapless stammering, he couldn't figure out a way to properly say what he wanted to. Instead of being concise he was bumbling like an idiot, and a Kaesstrian of all people was being critical of his wording. "I don't know, maybe I do want him to see me as his rival! I mean, I should be good enough, you know? I'm stronger than he is right now, but when he's healthy I like to think we're equals. But he still doesn't think much of me..." It was frustrating, what did he have to do to get the Beastman's respect? Glancing up at T'charrl he stuck out his tongue childishly, not having much other way of offering rebuttal at this point. He really hoped this conversation never reached Viral's ears, he may just die of embarrassment.

There was a surprisingly long bout of Silence from Shu, unusual for a normally talkative little guy. Sure as the sun was bound to rise though the younger boy soon found his voice again, and he quickly joined in on the proverbial dog-pile that was forming on Takeshi. "I am n-not jealous of him! Why would I be jealous of him?" Takeshi asked, his face reddening once more as he waved his hands dismissively, "I can fly and use Ki and all sorts of cool stuff! Sure, he's got his sword, and maybe he's stronger than me..." Plus he had this weird ability to just sort of make you feel more confident when he was around. He'd noticed that while with the Saiyans too, though he loathed to admit it. When you were beside someone with tons of combat experience it made things easier, and Viral definitely had that effect. Watching Shu prod at the pineapple, Takeshi chuckled amused before grabbing the fruit, turning it over in his hands carefully. "You've got to take the skin off first Shu, otherwise it really sucks trying to eat one of these things." With no knife handy he extended one finger, forming a slight casing of Ki around it before giving a quick swipe, cutting off a small part of the pineapple. Peeling away the skin and taking out the core he tossed them away as well, finding himself yet again covered in sticky fruit juice. Scowling slightly he offered over half of the ring to Shu and the other half for T'charrl to try. "How's about since I brought you fruit you two stop picking on me, hm?"
"The only reason he tried controlling you was because he knew you'd never follow him otherwise! Viral, it's not hard to see that he didn't want to just do away with you. You're strong, so strong that the King wanted you over most of his own soldiers! But that isn't the same as you being able to beat him. Think about how strong he must be, none of us can beat him, not yet. Not even you." The cold, hard reality of the situation was if they were to fight now they would be rolled over. Even with Shu and Viral transforming, even with T'charrl changing Yumi still believed they didn't have enough power. Defeating someone who commanded that large an army wasn't going to be easy, the King ruled for a reason and that reason was his insane power. Part of their being able to win this war was Viral getting healthy again, he was a key part of their team and they couldn't do this without him. All this talk of self-loathing and failure was really bringing the mood down, making them both properly miserable. Yet somehow Yumi reminded herself that she could help, even if she wasn't sure still how her ability worked. First forcing herself to calm down she reached out and placed a hand on Viral's shoulder, wondering if maybe contact would help him some. "You're going to get better, you will, it'll just take some time," she said gently, offering a small smile, "Vegeta and I wouldn't be working so hard if we didn't think you'd recover. And... As soon as you're ready we'll begin training, and we'll train until you're stronger than anyone else here. You're going to be great Viral, even better than you were before, it's just going to take a little bit longer than we'd like."

It was odd, Takeshi wasn't finding himself freaking out whatsoever being so close to T'charrl. Maybe once he got talking and all it was easy to get past what his friend looked like, it was easier to ignore appearances. It was really lame that he was so uneasy most of the time but he couldn't help it much, it was like Shu being afraid of his Oozaru form, it was just there. For the moment however he could actually get on without a care, enough to a point where he stood before the Kaesstrian without batting an eye. "Hey, I had no friends either growing up. I didn't even have a family," the Saiyan remarked, handing over half the pomegranate before smiling, "But look at us now. We've got family and friends, and we'll probably only make more, you know? And honestly I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be friends with than the people on this ship." Tch, all this touchy, sentimental conversation had him speaking real easily, and Takeshi found his face heating up slightly at speaking like this. It just wasn't his style to be so open usually, it made him feel a bit vulnerable and silly. Opting to take a brief pause he popped a seed in his mouth, sucking on it as he glanced over at Shu. The little guy was being pretty quiet, probably just content with his fruit for now. "Hit like a truck means they hit really hard. It's a saying we have on Earth," Takeshi explained, looking back to T'charrl with a smile, "And nah... I mean not entirely. Seeing you and your people using them kind of got me wanting to try too, you know?" Gah, why did T'charrl have to keep saying 'like him a lot', that sounded weird! "I do not like him at all!" he said abruptly, his face reddening drastically as he balled his hands at his sides. "I mean I d-do, but not like... Oh never mind!" Huffing he popped a few seeds into his mouth, sitting on his backside as he tried to play off his obvious embarrassment.
Yumi was nearing the end of her rope trying to bring Viral back from all of this. He was refusing to see the reality of the situation, everything was against him in his mind. It was horrible seeing him this way, she didn't know how to help though she desperately wanted to. Maybe he should take the medicine now, that would calm him right? Then again that would mean they were using the pills as an easy way out, that wasn't right. "The RRA might be cowards, but you can't think the King is, can you? Look how many people obey him, do you think people follow someone who is a coward, or who is weak? I'm not saying this to defend him, but the King isn't someone we can take lightly! He could probably beat us all if he really wanted to, our only chance is to fight as a group!" They would never triumph alone, not against an opponent like this. They needed to band together and drive their way to the King, find a way to weaken his defenses and make him vulnerable. Then it would be all of their duty to fight him, as a single force, that was the only way. Looking at Viral wide eyed as he began to rave a bit Yumi's heart sank, backing down a little as she blinked back tears. This was what he'd had to deal with incessantly for over a year, this wasn't fair. Viral had been a bit moody before but never like this, never self-loathing like this. Hoping desperately to help she extended a hand, placing it on her shoulder and taking a deep breath. "It won't get worse... It's going to start improving, just you watch," Yumi reassured, managing to calm herself gradually, "Just... Please, don't think of yourself as a weapon, just don't. You're so much more than that."

"Let's see... We've known Viral for..." Takeshi began, lifting a hand and counting his fingers silently. "I guess it's about two years now, wow... Yeah, two years. Kind of hard to believe it's been that long, seems unreal. But yeah, I've known him, Yumi, Vegeta and Shu for two years now, and I consider them all to be my family." Looking up to see what T'charrl was asking about he smirked, secretly glad the Kaesstrian had finally gone for the pomegranate. But in good conscience he couldn't let his friend let the rind, funny though it may be. Instead the Saiyan got to his feet, grabbing the fruit from the Kaesstrian's hands carefully. "I've got Shu, so I kind of get what it's like to be a big brother and all, but I don't really know how to feel about having a big brother myself," Takeshi explained, breaking the pomegranate in half and offering one of them to his friend. "Pick out the seeds and suck the juice off. When you're done with it, uh..." he paused, glancing around and grabbing a small trash can, placing it in front of T'charrl, "Just toss them in there." While he had a bit of fruit he might as well enjoy some as well, it couldn't hurt. Digging out a single seed he popped it into his mouth, starting to suck at the juices. "Rivalry? That's like when two people compete against each other all the time. Even if Viral doesn't see me as a rival I see him as one. And damn if I won't make him to accept me as a rival someday." Spitting out the seed into the garbage Takeshi smiled a bit, wiping his mouth on the back of his hand. "Viral hits like a truck, he doesn't need Ki. Plus he can do all sorts of things, without the horns and tail. He didn't have those before and I've seen him kick tons of butt."
"You can't go and fight the King singlehandedly though, none of us can. That's the whole reason we're gathering support for the rebels is so we all can go fight as a group. If one person could beat him do you think Korian would have spent so much time plodding around like he has? Or if that was the case why not just send us all in? After all we're stronger than they are." It was all about revenge, Yumi surmised, and Viral wasn't the only one that wanted it. She acknowledged though that if they were going to get back at the Saiyans then it had to be with some support, otherwise it was just a suicide run. She didn't like the idea of any one of them going in alone, it wouldn't work. The Beastman wasn't picking his words very carefully with how he was upsetting Yumi, enough so to the point she stopped and turned on him. No way was she going to let him talk like he was just a weapon, that was ridiculous! "You can be a warrior and still have people care for you! All of Earth's warriors before us did, I don't get why you think these two things have to be exclusive. You've got people all around you who care about you, and all you can do is turn us away and say we're mad for even considering caring!" She was getting all kinds of flustered over all of this, she absolutely hated when Viral demeaned himself. He was better than anything he said but wouldn't accept that as the truth, he had to be bad in his own eyes. "Even the androids were people, we consider them people. I don't understand... We're trying to include you, to count you among everyone else. So you're different, that's not bad, and it doesn't mean you're not one of us. Why can't you just accept that?"

Takeshi gave small nods of his head as T'charrl spoke, making an earnest attempt to drink in what was being said and commit it to memory. So essentially you had to care for the weapon for it to be useful, and then there was the whole extension of oneself bit too. Okay, that sort of cleared up the extra limb analogy, but it didn't guarantee he'd get it still. Having that in mind was easy enough, it was hard to actually imagine it as such and use it like he might an arm. It would come with time, he figured, and plenty of effort to get there. It wouldn't be unlike his learning Ki from his master all those years ago, it would just require patience. It was easier to understand the concepts of weaponry than it was to explain his stance on Viral, something that had Takeshi tripping over himself in an attempt to share. "Well... You could say Yumi and Vegeta are his family, but not me or Shu... I mean I guess he's kind of like family? We've known him for a long time, and I sort of consider all my friends family, so yeah. But... I don't know, it's complicated," he mumbled, pulling his legs up and laying his head on his knees with a groan. How the heck was he supposed to say anything without T'charrl turning it back on him? Sure he respected Viral and thought of him as more than just someone he fought with, but the Kaesstrian made it sound like they were as close as he was with Shu almost. Throwing out a mock attempt at personifying Viral the Saiyan smiled slightly amused, sticking out his tongue childishly at T'charrl, "As if I'd tell you if I did or not," Takeshi joked, waving a hand dismissively, "Nah, I don't. I guess the easiest way to put this is I respect the guy, and I want him to get better because it's awesome fighting with him, you know? It's kind of like a rivalry thing, I guess."
This had to be hard, falling from grace like this. Especially to someone like Viral who power meant everything. Yumi could perfectly understand why he was so upset and down on himself, that wasn't in question. Nor was why he couldn't be a bit more optimistic, there were so many obstacles blocking whatever little light there may be. Just because he couldn't look on the bright side didn't mean she couldn't, and she would try to be optimistic for the both of them. Things would work out, they had to, it would just be wrong if Viral was slighted yet again. He was owed this, he needed to be healthy again so he could battle. Perhaps Vegeta felt the same way, maybe that was why he was working so diligently on helping. Sure, there was his ethic, and his personal drive to succeed, those had to be spurring their friend along. But she'd noticed something while they were speaking, a look that Vegeta kept giving Viral. She couldn't describe it as anything less than sympathy and a yearning to help, and that maybe was the biggest factor in this work. This was going to work out all right in the end, they were going to make damn sure of that. "Nothing is stopping Viral, we're not doing anything right now, remember? The rebels are busy and they'll contact us when they need us again, that was the deal. So we're not on a schedule now." Stopping as they were walking Yumi clenched her fists, turning around and staring up at Viral intently. "Don't call yourself a weapon, just stop it. I'm sick of you thinking you're just some object or tool," she mumbled, shaking her head in frustration, "You're a person, just like me, or Vegeta, or Shu or Takeshi or anyone else. Just because you're a Beastman doesn't change that. We're not going to throw you at anyone until we take care of you, and that's final."

There was that whole being a part of your sword, Viral had said that too. No matter how many times he heard it Takeshi just had trouble imagining that sort of thing, having a weapon being an extension of yourself. Maybe that was why he had so much trouble with it, he couldn't imagine it as much else other than what it was, just a sword. "Listen to my sword, huh...?" he mumbled, frowning as he looked at the floor. He would try it, whatever it took to learn, but damn if he wasn't confused about all of this. If all the people who used swords were saying the same kind of stuff then it had to be true and he really needed to work on it, that would be his training. Swinging around a sharp piece of metal was easy, Shu could do that, it had to be the whole being one with the blade that was holding him back. Giving T'charrl a sharp look when he teased the Saiyan, Takeshi smiled slightly and rolled his eyes, "Not exactly... I mean Viral's not my dad. I know who my dad is, and he's an ass. I guess he's kind of like... I don't know, an older brother? I never had one really but I think he'd be what I'd want mine to be like. He's a pain, but he forces me to fight at my best." Not a ton of people could get him to do that anymore, even most of their opponents. Any time he was fighting alongside or around the Beastman he wanted to try and appear as powerful as could be, almost as if to try one-upping the other guy. Right now that would be no problem given Viral's state, but that was a hollow victory. He needed to get better, then they could see who was stronger. "Tch... Tell Viral any of this? He'd probably get all mad or blow me off," Takeshi remarked, smirking slightly. Making a face he showed his teeth, swiping at the air invisibly like he had paws, "Takeshi, you idiot. Stop being all sappy, it's disgusting!" he added, doing an awful impression of Viral's voice, "Something like that, you know?"
"He did say you were going to be a bit weaker, but hey, I'm sure he's got a plan in place! He doesn't just go into things blindly after all, right? Vegeta has something in mind to help you, I'm sure of it!" Far as Yumi understood the only thing Viral was going to struggle with was raw physical strength, the rest she assumed would be alright. His emotional state, his mental state, all of that would probably be fixed once the treatment was finished. Then it was just a matter of doing some training to build that muscle back up and he would be good as new. At least she figured it was that simple, she couldn't imagine anything more than that needing to be done. "You'll be up and fighting soon enough, I think we can safely say that now. And think about it too, it's not as though we'll be fighting anyone on Kaesstra. So if you get your rehab done while we're down there you won't miss out on any fights or anything. By the time you're all healthy and ready to go we'll be back in the thick of things!" Fighting who knows who at that point, if this weird situation with the war kept going they could be battling a new enemy. They still hadn't talked to the rebels about what was going on either, that was something they probably ought to look into soon. Even if they were enjoying some time off Yumi figured they wouldn't want to be lazing around when something bad was happening, they should be helping if they could.

Takeshi watched with a hint of amusement as T'charrl tried to wrestle open the bag of cherries. He really should be a good guy and tell his friend how to do it, but he didn't want to ruin the brief show he got. Wincing inwardly seeing the cherries drop all over the floor he smiled apologetically, "Be sure to mind the seeds in those. They're big and you really don't want to eat them. Oh, plus the juice is probably going to stain your claws a bit, just saying." Tasty fruits but very messy. Good thing the Kaesstrian hadn't gone for the pomegranate yet, the poor guy would probably be beside himself trying to figure out how to eat that. Glancing at Shu for a brief moment he cocked his head to the side, a bit surprised by what T'charrl had to say about his training. "Really...? I figured sparring was how you learned, weird. But if that's how you say I should learn then I'll at least try it, as long as you're willing to teach me. I really do want to learn how to use it." Granted with the opponents they were probably going to be facing it was hard to say how practical a sword would be in combat. It was like bringing a knife to a gunfight, only the knife was two feet long and the guns were Ki blasts. Having the topic change to Viral left Takeshi with a bit of mixed feelings, it was hard to talk about the Beastman like this. On one hand he saw the older fighter as a rival even if Viral didn't in turn, and on the other he was kind of just there. "I mean... Think about who we're fighting, everyone uses Ki. So it's cool to see someone without Ki be so strong. Probably why so many of those creeps on Kortal were afraid of him," he explained, nodding his head. T'charrl's questions made the Saiyan's face turn a light shade of pink, looking up at the Kaesstrian conflicted. "I don't really like him! I mean I do, but not like... Like-like. Because that would be weird! And I guess I respect him, I mean I know he's a good fighter and all, so there's that. And uh... He can be kind of cool too, you know? But don't tell him I said that!"
