Rookies up, veterans down. One thing you could say about Cedric: he didn't go taking the easy jobs for himself.
That hole, though. He got that they were the underground, but that seemed massive. In curiosity he closed both his eyes, pointed his face directly at the hole, and Screeeeeched. He listened to the sound bounce around down there, the owl of his brain painting a mental picture of what was below. He didn't get all of it, either. It just seemed to keep going. At least no one seemed to hanging around the new entrance waiting to jump whoever went down.
Then he grabbed a huge silver piece of metal, probably part of some corporate art before all this broke out, and decided to putbit to better use as mobile cover for him, Spectrum, and the police to advance behind. As he moved foward he gave a hoot and a jerk of his head that meant "follow me."

Really, they're office drone. All you really need is a single authoritative guy flanked by big tough dudes with guns and they should fold like paper cranes.

That's got me thinking, by now I would be in "delete everything" mode if I were New Sun. Just shredding files and wiping hard drives like I was after the world record for quickest disposal of dirty laundry. We're going to have to split up once we get there, with one group going down into the dark to fight monsters and rescue hostages and another going up to wrangle the office drones and secure all that no doubt useful information.
The Owlman ran up for a closer look, and shuttered. That was the woman from yesterday, the one that had wanted to try and sort things out peacefully. They'd apparently taken exception to that. As the medic spored all over them he reached out and offered a claw up to anyone willing to take it.
The order for lethal force made him uncomfortable, as did Lights apparently gleefull reaction to the prospect. The monster comment, in particular, stung. They were the good guys, right? They at least tried not to slaughter other human beings wholesale.
