It's way too early to be hearing Christmas music in the mall... can we get past Thanksgiving, first?

Name: Zanelle J. Richie

Age: 17

Grade: 11

Orientation: Bisexual

Likes:
Music; mostly hip-hop.
Peace and quiet. Solitude. Alone time.
The "out of this dimension" feeling you get when you do drugs.
Writing poetry/fantasy
Video games
Salty junk foods

Dislikes:
Loud and overly-crowded spaces make her uncomfortable.
School
The people in the school.
Overly sugary foods.
Public humiliation.
Large insects, especially those that fly.

Appearance: Zanelle's style of dress is a bit more on the "vintage" look, her wardrobe generally consisting of mom jeans, denim/graphic shirts and sneakers. She'll usually dress up her outfit with a wacky patterned belt and jewelry. She has an industrial piercing in both ears, and a small tattoo on the back of her ankle. She also wears a pair of thick framed glasses, but prefers to wear her contacts due to a bit of teasing.

Personality: Zanelle leans much more toward introversion than extroversion. She cherishes her "me-time," prefers to observe before she acts, and contributes to conversation only when she thinks she has something relevant to say. Although having a few good friends, she isn't the "nicest" person you'll ever meet. When you do hear her speak, she's often blunt, sarcastic, or brutally honest. She also has a bit of a potty mouth. She seemingly doesn't give a damn about anything or anyone besides herself and her writing.

She can sometimes overly guarded and secretive. When everyone is talking about more personal subjects, she is good at hanging back and not contributing; she'll end up changing the subject, taking the attention off of herself, or giving vague, evasive answers. She hates talking about herself, but loves to listen to and analyze the problems of others. You'll more often than not find her with her head buried in a book or a blunt in hand. When you bring her out of her shell, however, she's an overall fun person to be around, as long as you're someone she finds to be a decent person.

History: Zanelle lives in a moderate sized, two-bedroom apartment with her single mother and pet hamster. She's always been a bit "nerdy," keeping her head down and getting her work done. It also doesn't help that she is very introverted and would much rather spend her time reading, smoking, or playing video games than at any social events. She's never gotten into any real trouble other than a fight in ninth grade; she won, but the girl she fought decided not to press charges.

Others: She wants to be the next Maya Angelou/J.K. Rowling.
Kanye West is her idol.

Aw, shoot. I posted but forgot to tag who I've mentioned. I will edit it in, but not sure if they'll get the notification.

Josephine had been one of the late arrivals; her mother had insisted on dropping her off at "basketball camp." She had arrived at the mess hall in just enough time to catch the end of the head counselor's speech, something about purple lanyards and having fun. Jo couldn't help but roll her eyes. Sure, they were at a Summer camp, but she wasn't exactly looking to have fun. The main objective since she first found out about the camp was to learn more about controlling her abilities so that she can blend in with the rest of the world. Having fun was not a priority.

After the counselor's spiel came to an end and she received her schedule and cabin assignment, Josephine found herself lingering in the shadows; she was practically glued to the wall unless she decided to grab a quick snack. Thankfully, no one had tried to approach her. Not that she would have let them. Anyone that glanced in the young woman's direction would have immediately regretted it; her piercing gaze was enough to send a shudder throughout your body. While she stood, she took the time to observe her fellow campers. It was pretty easy to identify a few of the other kids; the vampires stood out with their pale skin and sharp canines. Others, such as the two younger siblings and a young woman with bright pink hair, were harder to guess. A bit of eavesdropping confirmed or corrected her suspicions. Campers that she had yet to figure out included a rather tall, heavy-set man who appeared to be a lot older than the lot.

After a while, Jo decided it would be best for her to head to her cabin and turn in. Her roommate, Natalie, seemed nice enough. Jo simply offered a slight nod and smile before unpacking the majority of her things, putting on pajamas, and climbing into bed. As usual, she was one of the first to wake up the next morning, and was freshly groomed and dressed in time for breakfast and their morning hike. Everything went smoothly as she was used to the physical activity. The most she needed to do afterwards was fluff her curls, change into a pair of sandals, and roll a stick of deodorant under her arms. It was rather humid outside.

Jo wasn't sure what to expect when she entered her physical abilities classroom, but she was certainly pleasantly surprised. From the Jimi Hendrix and David Bowie posters all the way to the starry ceiling, Jo was pleased. She was the second student to enter the class, arriving in just enough time to overhead a blonde, grey-eyed young man ask their vampire counselor something about turning to ash. She listened with fascination as the woman answered.

"Pretty neat," she said with a shrug, "learning this stuff from you, I mean. I wasn't even sure if vampires were an actual thing until a few weeks ago. It makes you question all things you've seen in the movies. You wonder if any of it is even true, or if it's all just complete Hollywood bullsh-" Jo cut herself off at the end of her sentence, unsure if their counselor had a thing for swearing.

Oops.
I'll post either tonight or sometime tomorrow. I'll have to read through the recent IC posts and figure out how to introduce my character into it all. Sorry for taking a while, school has been kicking my ass.
