Just a bump to see if anyone else wants to join up. It's going good so far, and I'd love to have other fighters.
Good plan. Since most of my notes are scattered whenever I happen to come up with something.
A note about tech levels in this world: This world is just barely on the brink of the Iron Age. Bronze is the norm, and is far cheaper than iron. Helmfirth is the only culture that has mastered the production of steel, everyone else produces it only occasionally and completely by accident(as they don't yet understand the concept of mixing carbon into the iron). Despite Anaxan attempts to gain the knowledge, Helmfirth smiths have guarded it, some with their very lives. As a result, they are still the only smiths who can produce reliable steel. Even though they never wanted to enter the empire, the increased trade and demand for this unique feat of smithing has made Helmfirth quite wealthy since entering the empire.
The contestant section of the stands was a small, walled box booth that was set into the arena wall about ten feet from the ground. The public stands were above and on both sides of the box, and the only way out was through a set of stairs on the back wall, which led into the armory bay. The armory bay was the one in which contestants collected their Coliseum provided weapons before stepping onto the sand. Orun was in the box, wrapping linen around his scratch. He had already removed his chest plate and his silk cape, which were sitting nearby. When Garvus slapped his bottom, Orun rolled his eyes but answered mildly. "Thank you very much, Garvus. It's good to be appreciated by another athlete. Maybe you'll lend me your shield in another fight later today. We'll see what Master Auldus has in mind when he returns."
When two characters are in the arena you may post back to back. Other characters may comment and converse from the stands, but it won't affect you.
The main thread has started, but we are still accepting new players and new characters.
Yeah, short paragraphs for fight scenes are ideal. And Jangle, not every fight ends with a death. I figure we'll let the RP go on for a little while before characters start dying.
Hm, so it's a gift from a sponsor, basically? I'm not gonna lie, that part of your post was a little muddy and hard to understand. That's something I can live with, but we'll save it for later, okay?
Well that wouldn't really make any sense, as a slave he doesn't own anything. Especially not something that he supposedly kept throughout his, what, eleven years of slavehood?
Name: Orun Age: 25 Appearance: ![Celebrating victory.](http://media.wizards.com/images/magic/daily/features/feat262c_6ettwm8x8n.jpg "Orun") Bio: Orun hails from a desert civilization somewhere far to the South of Anaxus Prime. His people are known to periodically pass through Anaxan controlled territories, almost always traveling alone. It is understood in Anax that the desert dwellers travel as a rite of passage, and bring stories and treasures back to their communities. Orun was one such traveler, heading North to seek his fortune. When he came upon the Prime Coliseum, he was intrigued enough to spend what little money he had to watch a fight. From the stands, he watched a pair of slaves with spears cowering in a corner as a griffin, wings clipped, paced back and forth hungrily. He thought to himself that he could do better fighting such beasts, having hunted similar animals back home. He joined the arena to prove it, and has been fighting ever since. He's best known for fighting beasts, and(as he is a free man and can make the choice) rarely accepts fights with men and women. Strength: 2 Speed: 0 Dexterity: 1 Armor: Heavy, level 3. Equipment: Fights with a spear primarily, but always carries a short sword into fights as well. --- Name: Vran Age: Unknown Appearance:![Her likeness on a promotion poster.](http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/053/9/4/gorgon_by_celiarts-d5vtr5i.jpg "Vran") When not in the arena, she wears a brass mask that covers her entire face, leaving only the snakes that she has for hair free. The mask is locked securely, and will only be taken off before a fight. There's a hole for her nose and mouth so that she can eat drink and breath, but the mask is uncomfortable and leaves her with sores on her face. Bio: Vran is an interesting and special case in the Coliseum. She is from a lineage of creature-people that Anaxans say were cursed by the gods, for reasons that vary from story to story. To look directly into a gorgon's face up close causes immediate paralysis, and for this reason she is both an interesting show and a dangerous asset. She is handled very carefully, as most who are struck by her power die when their heart stops. Vran is not an ordinary fighter, and is only put in the ring with slaves and condemned criminals, and even then only when the fighter in question has lost favor with the crowd. Vran has been at the Coliseum for just under seven months, and yet she has never lost a match, and is hated by the slaves for it. She is held in the same harsh conditions as the other slaves, but they keep a distance from her as even with her face covered, her snakes have a dangerous bite. She doesn't speak the Anaxan language very well, and is unlikely to improve because no one talks to her. All she understands is that when she fights, her face can feel the free air. To her, the danger of the arena is worth the temporary relief. She is unique even among the slaves as she does not get paid for her victories. Strength: 0 Speed: 2 Dexterity: 1 Armor: None, level 1. Equipment: She is given a shield to block blows, but is expected to kill slaves with her visage alone.
