Homesteader, it was a primarily human colony ship that was seeking a world in the Frontier.
Appearance:
His reasonably plain head is equipped with holographic projectors, which will project a “face” over the front, allowing him to emote. He can alter the appearance at will, but usually sticks with a neon green skinned visage, with black rimmed white irises. His eyes and mouth are smiling and friendly, a bit of an overcorrection from the blank and inexpressive expanse of his robotic face plate.
His upper face plate can lift up from his chin, revealing an opening for chemical intake. It appears where his projected mouth is, and he projection is opaque enough to almost hide it, so that if one doesn't look closely enough he might actually appear to eat.
The biggest flaws in his visage are physical touch, as anything will pass right through it and disrupt the image, and bright lights. When in particularly bright environments, such as outside on a clear day, his face is much more transparent, and gets fuzzy on the edges.
Wears clothes, despite not being strictly necessary, but often dresses simply. Most of his body is bio-synthetic, and not vacuum proof, and he still has use for the standard flight suit, though he wears it sealed around his head, which can withstand the vacuum. He prefers this method, as it prevents a helmet from interfering with his vision and sensors.
Personal History: Gray had already been conceived when his parents boarded a colony ship heading for the Frontier. They meant to raise him on a new world, away from the expanding poverty in the New Terra city they had lived in before. Unfortunately, upon arrival the ship found the destination planet to be far less hospitable than expected. Lacking Terraforming equipment, they turned away to find a new home.
So Gray was born and raised on the ship, and put to work fairly early in his life. One of his parent(who had never taken a gender identity) was a pilot, and it was under his tutelage that Gray first learned to fly, operating a small repair craft that skirted the outer hull of the
Homesteader whenever small impacts or general wear required it.
He was 16 when they finally found a suitable home planet, and Gray found he preferred the life aboard a ship that he was accustomed to. When the second wave of settlers came, he left on their ships as they returned to New Terra. Seeking a way to apply his skills and keep flying, he applied for DefCom, and soon became a pilot for them.
Personality: Generally congenial, Gray grew up in a very close knit environment and leans toward seeking companionship rather than isolation. He's modeled his body very closely after humans, and bristles defensively about his differences, especially when brought up in a mean spirited or exclusive manner.
He's still young and has a healthy taste for wonder and adventure, as well as a great appreciation for beauty.

Pilot battle armor, slightly modified to attach under the chin. It seals there airtight, allowing for exoatmospheric Ops without a helmet.
Fighter Customisations: Has a similar green and grey paint job to his own outer coverings, and a geometrical, triangular motif on the nose.
