"In your tongue my family would be called SwiftPaw, and you are welcome."

An improbably small man revealed himself then to be the master of the guild. He told Swift that the guild was slightly different from a Pride, but Swift didn't see it. The man had an odd idea about his culture, but he felt it best not to bother correcting him. Humans never learned anything the Leonin tried to teach them. Swift merely nodded at him.

He was about to address the Guildmaster when something jumped and clung to him. Swift reflexively struck out, his paw(claws blessedly retracted) making contact before his head had even turned to see what it was. It was, in fact, a smaller boy, who was knocked through the air and across the room by the force of the blow.

Swift's ears flattened in alarm, and he rushed over to where the boy landed. "My apologies, small cub. It is unwise to surprise a Leonin."

A cougar's about as big as me, I still wouldn't go petting a random one I encountered.

Okay, fucking look. Swift is not a little kitty cat. He's an 8-9 foot tall, half ton sentient predator. Why does everyone keep trying to pet him? Are they mentally retarded?

"The thin-maned man didn't frighten me," he answered simply, "Pridemates should not fight. This 'guild' is supposed to be a pride, yes?"
He was a little concerned that he might have overstepped his boundaries, but nobody chided or challenged him. As far as he was concerned, he had come out on top.
"Why did you quarrel?"

Swift wasn't quite sure how to react. Having one's mane stroked felt good, much like when he was a cub and his mother would clean his fur. But it was also a bizarrely intimate thing for a stranger, of another species no less, to be doing.
"Thank you," he said in the end, "But please..."

CRASH

Swift turned toward the commotion with the rest of the hall, in time to see wooden splinters flying everywhere. The man who had been struck fell to the floor. He soon got up and advanced angrily on a girl nearby. Swift rushed forward, and stood between them, facing the man. Instead of saying something rational and trying to get to the bottom of the situation, he simply roared into the man's face.

Starting to feel like this is becoming based on a show I've never seen.

"I don't mean to nitpick" *proceeds to nitpick*

I kid, yeah, copper would make a lot more sense. The material of the coin is irrelevant, it was just a throwaway joke. I shall edit, though.

On this subject, and since money is probably going to be somewhat important in this RP, I think we should decide on how it works, exactly.

Probably a copper, then silver, then gold system. But how much copper is a gold piece worth?
Alright, Affili. I have a new post up. Yllicus can be seen from the sky, so have Darious spot him as they fly above. Yev is on vacation, I think, so just write it as Vidal following his commands to land.
Deep in the untraveled forest to the East of Lan, as men and women scrambled to find him, the king's assassin was striding with melancholy purpose. Few knew this place these days, except in a vague way as a place that should be avoided. But Yllicus knew its past. After all, it was his own Swords that, in the past century, had rendered this place obsolete. But he had dropped his swords, in a failed attempt to hinder himself on his foul quest. And now he needed the creature that stayed here. The old thing, which was once friends to his people.

He had caught a deer, the biggest stag he could find, and carried it on his broad shoulders, hoping it was succulent enough to appease the creature, Atchetho. The trees in this part of the wood were coated with a shimmering white substance, though valuable and mysterious, Tharans knew better than to touch it. When he could go no further without stepping in the creature's webs, Yllicus dropped the stag into the tangle of silk in front of him. He called out:

"Atchetho! If this beast pleases you, see my past, know the plight that I cannot speak, and tell me what I should do next."

The webs stirred. There was something at the center that Yllicus could not see, pulling on the strands. The stag, stuck to the silk, was pulled in toward the center and out of sight. Something scuttled and clicked, all the while Yllicus stood still, awaiting the creature's verdict.

"I have missed Thara," a voice filled the air. It was a quiet rasp that seemed to reverberate in the threads of silk that surrounded the place, coming from everywhere and nowhere. "Ages have gone by. I have had to catch my own meals. Hunting isn't difficult, but I confess I had been pampered by your kind. It would please me to See you here, if you had truly chosen me. But I See you have no options. You have been my brother in the Sight, but you gave it away. In vain, I See. You are hunted by legions, and by few."

"What should I do?" Yllicus wailed. He dropped to his knees, outpouring his grief and guilt to the creature that felt the vibrations of time. "Surrender and face justice? Or hide in shame?"

"It is good you came to me, shortsighted as you are. You shall do neither. I See the earth, and I See the sky. And I See Their hands moving things to Their favor. Lan pushes the Nomad and the Sellsword, and his wife pushes the Priestess and the Goatherd, both destined to meet if, and only if, you stand where their paths intersect.

"I See that your actions were not your own, but I also See that you wish to atone for them regardless. If you want to assuage your guilt, take foot North, stay in the woods, under cover from eyes from above until you reach a clearing where an alter to the Goddess stands. Lay on the alter, in plain view of the sky. The Sellsword will try to take you. Resist with all your might. Go."

And he went.

Leonin aren't unheard of outside of Ishhae, but they are rare. Swift drew gazes as he marched through the city's streets. He looked like a cat with a purpose, but it was a ruse. In truth, he had no idea how to navigate civilized streets, and was walking more or less at random, looking for the emblem that had been on the scrap of paper that had brought him here.

His spear was tucked into the back of his loose garment, and his club was hanging at his right hand. Ka was somewhere, probably hunting, but she would come if Swift called.

For now, he decided to enlist the help of the city's local birds. He pulled his flute from where it was tucked into his shawl and tooted a little tune that sounded identical to birdsong. He played again, and after a moment a few pigeons started landing nearby, tweeting and cooing at him. He put the flyer he had on the ground and pointed at the symbol, tweeting a question, asking if they'd seen this sign.

Their responses made no sense. They used sounds and calls that Swift knew, but they ordered them strangely and they hopped around as they spoke. He tried asking again, and as he played his bird flute, something shining clinked down onto the ground in front of him. He reached down and saw that it was a small circle of copper, with a face cast onto it. Soon a few others followed, all thrown by people passing in the street. Unsure of this custom, Swift picked up the coins, and put them in a fold of his shawl. He put the flute to his mouth again, this time asking the birds to show him where the symbol was.

At once, they all kicked off of the ground and flew down the street. Swift followed suit, sprinting after them, dodging people carts and the occasional horse. All of the birds landed on to the roof of a building that stood at the end of the road he ran. Sure enough, the building had a banner emblazoned with the tree symbol. Swift strode forward, unsure for a moment, but opened the doors and walked in.

"Hello? This is the tree of iron?"
