I find it would be demoralizing to have to create weak characters to participate in something like the ranks, when others can use just about any character they want, just because one has a higher skill level.

In essence, it kind of ruins the ranks, because then you're not really the best when you actively tell a skilled fighter he has to be weaker to participate, or risk not getting any fights and thus not a fair chance of actually gaining rank.

that's what I wanted to try and avoid by having everyone fight everyone, instead of a cycle of fighting people you either know you can beat, or have a good chance of beating.

it seems like its been as much implied that many won't fight anyone, at least for rank, if its a good chance they'll lose.

while Skally has some strong characters, who doesn't? many of his, from experience, tend to be totally scalable to the fight.

I wouldn't mind facing any of Skalla's characters. There is a story line I want to do involving the Skallagrim the Cughtagh and Tordor I want to do involving the Ancients. Though I might be able to do that in the four way.
Yeah, I do wish the Fury Vs Kanitah fight had a better motive than it does. I've been trying to stretch out the motivations as far as possible, because I don't like my characters to just be fighting for no reason unless they're true Chaotic Evil, but it wasn't happening. At least I always have the Evil Spirit card to fall back on.

Motivation is not a big deal really, I have seen worse reasons in other fights. This is after all the arena. The Dreamers taking offense at a backhanded comment by Scion to his watch comes to mind. However, in that case Skalla managed to create a rather odd reason for aggression into some kind of learning experience for Scion on a emotional level through skillful writing. I don't if many people could have pulled it off, but Skalla did brilliantly. Somehow... It's obvious Skalla loves the hell out of that character. (I think you tired to do something like that later on with Fury wanting the word Engine, it seemed to come out of the blue a bit from a readers point of view, since until then it was not apperent Fury knew about the word engine.)

Of course that "you have 8,035 days left in your life." part was baller as hell. Probably the one best line of dialogue I've read in the Arena for some time.
Your face.

Unoriginal.

But I am glad to see you have outgrown the 'Your Mom,' insults at least.

@GreivousKhan Oh you should totally spectate our upcoming fight then. My fighter's already up, and he's as unorthodox as I'm ever gonna get, probably. XD

@DJAtomikaI was probably going to, lately I've been reading past fights and current on my phone while on the bus to work or when bored. My favorite one so far is Fury vs Kanitah, Round 2 thing. Never really cared for either character, and the reason for their rematch was more lackluster then I'd have liked, but the emotion and character development that evolved out from it later on really made it quite a compelling piece.

Wanted Fury to win at first, which was odd since I like the under dog usually, but later it become obvious Kanitah had the more relatable goal of finding his daughter. (which story writers wise, means he has to lose tragically. XD)

Skallagrim VS Crazy Scion was another good one, but the season has bogged down lately, was even thinking of chiming in like Skalla mentioned. I was reading it one night and had a moment of inspiration for some advice for Scion. Of course come morning I forgot all of it....
Alright. A single themed power.

Oh, you should think outside the box for it to, like my psionic I made that had the near exact same fighting style. Like a Soul Blade, only creating mind blades with her feet instead of hands. Kool stuff. I think you could pull it off.
Also, what the heck is a blob?
<Snipped quote by LeeRoy>

You take that back .

Btw, are you in a match atm?
Oh, never mind kid, my shield is WAY bigger then yours. Forgot you had centimeters not inches..

So either way I actually did not lose that much time, I in fact have more protection than I thought... :p

Edit: The size was strange for one on one, but that's when I thought he was using a tower shield like in his pic. It should be noted not all African tribes use oval shields... allot use smaller round ones. Farther south tribes, like zulu (one only much later on) use larger shields.
Brennus obviously not met many north women.

Btw, my left side was facing you, hence why she was leading with her left foot. So you actually had to pass her shield to reach her right side. Hence why it was easy to deflect the spear thrust.

Or just avoid said armor of course. But that's complicated. It's mostly useful against back-stabs.

Contrary to its size and weight, spider silk is naturally capable of absorbing a huge amount of energy. Spider silk has a natural stress distribution when struck btw, since you asked how it adsorbed energy from a blow.
