I based the shield size and weight off a real world equivalent. It uses an arm grip, meaning her arm supports the weight of the shield. Her shield is basically following her arm all the way up to her shoulder and can rest there making it not quite as heavy. Kind of like a Boeotian style shield more or less.

Edit: Also at some point I forgot what shield we were using and based them off our pictures. x.X
So what exactly are you saying is happening? Brennus is dragging his spear back and the head cuts your character's leg, as he retreats. Meanwhile he raises his shield for cover and her spear slams into the shield, by which point he has finished stepping backward and shoots his spear out again.

If I get this right your characters shield is in front of her leg or something at this point, causing my character's spear to get caught in some fashion as he drags it back? She is then moving her spear after it slammed into his shield and striking at his arm, which is outstretched because her shield caught his spear?

Seems unlikely without your character purposefully trying to capture his spear, which would be difficult.

The spears head was between the two pronged blades when he drew it back. (though considering the length of the shield, not sure how it would have reached her thigh anyway.) Which would cause the head to get stuck between the blade and shield, at least theoretically.

@Dynamo Frokane Wha happened? o.o
Not entirely sure if this is the right place to say it, but whatever.

Just thought I'd pop in to say I'm designing some new Battlegrounds, an area which seems to be lagging behind in terms of development in the wake of all the other forum updates. I have not settled on the final number, but I will be making anywhere between three and six new battlegrounds. All of them will be multi-variant and dynamic in nature, with specifically tailored/partitioned sections. Each once should be able to be used for one-on-one matches, team battles, free-for-alls, and more. Additionally, all of them will feature fully destructible environments (no arbitrarily indestructible setpieces) and consistent, non-linear topography (no arbitrary invisible walls). One or two will also feature scientifically accurate non-euclidean geometry (because if there's something everyone wants in their fight clubs, its loads of tedious scientifically accurate physics).

Each one will support standard Arena slugging matches, but will also have variant sets that will allow for battles of a different sort, particular in regards to fighters with drastically different approaches or whose matchup creates a vast power imbalance.

More to come. Thanks to [@GrievousKhan] for explaining internal arena mechanics to me.

Np man, I'd never say I'm an expert but I'd like to think I know the basics.

If Terminal does d0o this he'll earn the title of Architect.

@MelonHead He's making new arenas.

I'd have thought it was a pretty straight forward.

Yeah, I'm just unsure why he had to announce it, anyone can submit Arenas if they want to, also I'm highly sceptical of someone not interested in Arena fighting making Battlegrounds, sort of like a gunsmith who's never fired a gun.

The go to guy who made the best arena's in Old Guild was a new dude who had never participated in the arena. (he did later join up)

His battlegrounds were so good everyone requested for him to make more. You don't have to have a Skallagrim time period in the Arena to make good battlegrounds. In fact it seems outsiders make the more interesting ones.
Tordor peered out across the great expanse of the fortress, taking in its many spires, and towers. The wind buffeted him as he did a quick recon of the area. Was that?... yes off in the distance Tordor could see what looked like a separate structure that resembled a small fortified building. A good place as any to be the athenaeum that he and his ally were looking for.

"Such a beautiful place...what do you think this fort was used for, before it was abandoned?"

Tordor stepped away from the wide window, a hand on his hat to keep it from flying off with the wind.

“Hmm, hard to say. But my guess is those who lived here must have been masters of the arcane. Judging by the stability of this place.”

It was at that moment one of his spirits pulsed cautiously beside him. The space there filled with a cold sense of pain and regret. Tordor turned to the arched entrance that lead into the towers roundabout chamber. Over the whistling of the wind against his coat he could faintly make out the distinct sound of something approaching...something large perhaps?

He raised his left arm in warning to his partner as he moved to stand beside on of the rooms pillars facing the entrance more than ten yards away. A chorus of whispering voices sounded in warning, but too quietly for Tordor to make out what is being said.

“I think we’re about to have company.” He said absently as he fingered a trigger attached to his belt. The mechanism built into his sheath activated the clockwork device, making a faint whirring noise as it spun- gathering nether slowly as it did. It always paid to be on the safe side. Still the sound could just be his imagination. There was only one way to know for sure.

The soul of the false spirit flickered and shot away, passing through solid walls as if they were but open air. In moments it returned projecting, more than saying, what it had seen. Looking away for a moment as if listening to something or someone, Tordor nodded then looked to Itsuki.

“Best get ready, seems that competition might be on their way.”

When or if Itsuki drew her swords, Tordor would wave his left hand. Sending a freezing cold wave of pure nether toward her weapons- igniting them in black fire with a crackling sound.

“Just bit extra you might find useful.” Giving her an almost mischievous grin.

I'll post up today.
Who are we waiting on again?
And exactly zero pressure was added!

I suppose if that was my goal I'd be disappointed. :K

Also...

Remember both of you.

I'm watching you fight.

Hmm, reminds me allot of Fallout, especially Fallout Survival Simulator.

Count me intrigued.
