I still don't know what evasive manoeuvre you meant, Khan.

I'm horrible at taking hints and horrible at visualising shit like that.

The better way (one of the ways) out is not really an evasive maneuver at all really. I'd probably take the fact I'm air-born as an advantage (along with the fact that attack does not have near as much oomf).

I don't know if I should actually say it. I don't want to make it seem like I'm patronizing you or something. :(

Well I have my primer on textual dueling. I have tried to teach here but people run when I actually make them think through attacks, defense and how to advance through a combat progression.

I remember trying to join on of those, but it was full. :(

I meant not only that but like tutoring in a literal sense of the word; techniques in swordplay or hand to hand combat, what works and what doesn't, grappling, dodging, that sort of thing.

Something like combat school.

Well I wouldn't mind going through a simple sparing match with you, Tier 1. Will also help with my rust. I'd never say I'm an expert but I at least have experience I can share.

Edit: As in I can share the basics of swordsmanship I know, hand-to-hand marital art though is something I have less experience with. RL or otherwise.

Probably dark ages, thus avoid heavy knights and so forth. Also thinking of evening it out to purely T1 realistic no powers. I momentarily considered a class system, but decided it would be to complicated. That can be another theme for another time.

Not sure if it will be ranked as of yet (unless I learn you need 2000 points for next tournament, which would not surprise me), it's not likely to have any impact on the Multiverse canon either.

There probably is something to be said for the speed of the point of certain weapons though, which at the very least give them the illusion of speed. Which I believe is why spears are so deadly, because with very minimal body movement you can move the head of a spear a good distance incredibly quick.

Ultimately I suppose if there was one sword that outmatched every other in terms of speed in every circumstance there would only be one type of sword that survived the test of time, which is untrue.

Thrusting weapons do tend to be quicker (and deadlier) than slashing weapons. Though my mini rant was more pertaining to the myth of 'fast' swords.

There is difference in swing speed, but the difference is so minuscule it wont make a major difference most of the time. The only real hindrance is often weapon recovery speed. Which is only really telling if you put to much into one swing. (which once again spears win out on)

One of the reasons spears tended to be the most majorly used form of weapon. Aside from the ease of training. (and how cheap they were)

Anyway, it would be interesting to see what Fury ends up with. Especially how he ends up with it. Canon wise the mage-killer ore used in Tablurath's swords are super rare, I think I had one source on that spider world back in Nexus. He might end up getting his sword in the Multiverse Arena, depending on when he needs to get it anyway.

Hah, the throwing knife incident was funny.

That was slightly bad form though, who the hell would stand in front of a charging horse and get lucky enough to throw a knife straight at its head, at T1/2? I was very dubious about that, even though he was technically charging us down at the time so I shouldn't have been looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Ya, looking back I see Whatshisface (I know who did it but I wont mention their name, they've changed it now anyway) was totally in the wrong. Assuming his knife did hit, he was stilling going to get buried under hundreds of pounds of horse meat. Which we kind of agreed on anyway, but oh well.

One day I'm going to try that group on group Chivalry style battle again. Hopefully an actual judges will help it last to the end.

@Skallagrim
I haven't looked thoroughly into the character for awhile. Mostly because I have never even come close to fighting him anyway. Closes I even had to a battle with you at all was when your dragon came in during the multiverse and single-handily wiped out my undead army. :(

I remember hiding in a tower.
I'm kind of a pessimist.

I blame it on Rilla, since he made up the whole ranking thing. :P

But like I said there's not reason to be pessimistic. Everyone makes mistakes now and again, we are human. You might not see it on older arena folks like Skalla because they've been around allot (and don't fight all that often tbh) but I remember his blow our argument about a certain flying knife and a horse. :3

Short end of it, shit happens not the end of the world.

I've got plenty of swords that would be excellent on a high mobility high damage character like Fury. Namely the sword of the character I'm posting later tonight.

Mostly because I used to make more medieval characters than scifantasy

On a slightly related topic, I find the whole faster sword thing misleading, there is no such thing as a faster weapon than another kind. At least among swords. I mean, which is going to hit you first? The long-sword or the knife that has to cover more distance? (assuming equal tier speeds of course)

A good example is the Roman army, in which they primarily used short swords during their early conquesting years, while the latter days of the declining empire saw them start using longer bladed weapons when they ended up having to defend more often than not. Type and length of weapon has an interesting effect on the warriors mindset. It is also a nice way to reveal a bit about a characters personality through his weapon.

(Such as spear wielders often being cocky and into allot of showmanship)

(just some things to keep in mind when picking a sword or whatever. Fury with bladed Cestus would be scary)

Which is why Skallagrim uses a long/war sword that has an over all length of 44 inches.

Ya, I had a feeling he was more a defensive type who relied on energy manipulation more than brute strength. Which is why I think of him as an Archer type more or less.

Yeah, as I've mentioned I'm still learning swordplay myself and it's hard to understand on the purely theoretical level I have to experience it. I suspect that considering he launched his strike left to right he'd be leading with his left hand on the grip, but he was leading with his right hand in the first slash. I figure for an experienced swordsman the change-over wouldn't be that difficult.

I should point out I'm only -this- unforgiving when playing a very specific character arch-type usually, which is this exact sort. You can't really afford to give your opponent an inch when your character is just a hulking giant with a sword and no reliable ranged capability what-so-ever.

Reversing would mean he'd need (assuming he's using it with two hands) to reverse from a palm down grip for his right hand (assuming this is his dominant hand) to a palm down grip.

Which is why I found it odd since that takes just a tad longer to do than merely sending the tip of the sword into a slight turn (resembling a clockwise turn) and flipping that same edge and sending it the other way without losing to much time. It'd be a very fast movement Dj might not have time to even block while retaining your momentum.

Anyway, I of course assume Judgment is using his weapon to the best of his ability(he has a huge amount of training of not experience), I just wanted to know if he was using one hand or two hands.
