No one said you had to care, part of the reason I put the 5 page reply in a hider, though last I checked you all were interested in my thoughts on stuff concerning the arena. :P

I'm only trying to solve issues that I see and keep in mind logic. We aren't exactly simple organisms and while it might be more balanced and easier, it sort feels like Logic is taking a back seat in this regards.

Taking what I've seen in the tourney and other such stuff:

A few questions that come to mind about preps.
  • What usually requires a prep? Just magic or can other abilities that aren't physically defend-able require them?
  • Is only magic that needs it?
  • What sort of things can be considered not needing a prep and why?
  • What sort of descriptions can be classed as preps for magic or an ability?
  • What happens when you do a prep, can you still defend yourself while doing it or when someone goes to attack, in order not to get hit do you have to stop? Would that just cancel out all the preps?
  • Is a prep's time based on the power level of it and if you cast it premature, should it have a penalty? Or just lowered in power that is possible?
  • How do you determine when an interruption is successful?

These are only a few questions off the top of my head that I don't know where or how to find the answers to.

Honestly this will answer most of your questions. This is from Eden site which is also posted in the arena by Skallaoldbones awhile ago.

How will I ever win. :(
<Snipped quote by Skallagrim>

I hope so as I'm so nervous it's not funny... though, my blood is stirring with excitement.

That heart pounding excitement never goes away with time. o.o

Unless you're a cold corpse like SKalla.
The supercard is the end of the year story based fighting to set up next years potential character storylines.

Is this just one 1v1 fight or a few?

Alright Post incoming today. Just got back from holidays and I'm unwinding.
*braces to be chewed out or torn to pieces*

I'm sorry but when did you think we started caring about your opinions noob. :P

Anyway....

1)There is still no ETA on the upcoming system changes on Mahz' side for the ranking system. So, his current one will suffice as the global system, and I, or another, will handle the season by season rankings. Wagers will be nixed in terms of points, however you can still bet a weapon or item.

A)Don't have much to say about this really.

2) There has been talk that the current T1 system doesn't work for most, or all, of us. I am wondering why no other system has been proposed, or much talked about. When we wanted a different tier system we got one, though it sort of fell in our laps. Is that what we are also hoping for here?

A)I think T1 one is perfectly fine, its just that most people have no real understanding of it really. For example, the prep section is what is really confusing people. I mean people seem to think you can charge any thing. When in fact the truth is - as far as the Eden version goes- you only prep abilities that specifically NEED preps. I also think only one ability should be allowed to be prepped at a time. Common sense does not really cover that, as one would believe if they have a separate generator, that system should be able to charge up alongside another ability they have. (Mostly true when you start introducing advanced technology really)

3) In terms of tournaments, I am an advocate for one of the following:

3a) Either accepting the GM's acceptances
or
3b) Gms offering a discovery phase wherein all tournament participants can chime in on characters before the matches start.

Once matches start then there should be no mention of folks being OP. It really detracts from the actual matches, and in one point, caused one person to drop out. We have to trust that the GM knows what he/she is doing

A) I agree with there being no complaining long after characters are accepted and matches start, specially later into the tournament. To this effect, I think we should just ban argumentative British people. :P

4) What changes would you like to see in next years ranking system? I am in favor of everyone fighting everyone once, instead of cycling through the same few people. It'll open up people to new fights and keep people from farming points from one person.

A) A cycling system might be interesting but how would you go about implementing it and what form would it take? Like a cool-down time before you can fight that person in a ranked match again?

5) I am still looking to host the Rookie Tournament, but there are also plans for me to move so my internet access may be dodgy around Thanksgiving and forward. I still want to do a preset character tournament, in terms of powers, but leave physical attributes open to the character creators.

A) I feel a tournament is not the way to go about getting new people in. To ruble with new folks is you have no idea if they can even be reliable. A few dropouts in a tourney can be disastrous.

6) What other types of tournaments would you guys like to see. or would you even really like to have the rankings continue?

A) would need to give this one some thought. I think mid, low, and high tiers have all be done already at some point between new guild and old.

7) ALso, next month I'll make the thread for the Super Card in December. Has anyone else wanted to join it? I'm confirmed for the show, but not sure who I'll be facing. I think Skally and Melon are set to battle each other there as one of the main events.

A) What is this super-card? 0.0

Wow, I never thought I'd edge a victory. I appreciate the feedback Skalla and this will likely strive to push me further. I'm glad I was given this chance to flesh out Tablurath as a character and I think he's among my favorite PC's I have ever made in the arena. I think if Raelis had been given room to actually take flight this probably would have ended very differently.

Good game @yoshua171-for realz- and that's not even to just be polite. As far as I can remember only one person has ever pushed me this hard in the arena and that was Lyzan in old guild (though I do recall facing SEED but that was more a slaughter). So probably me second favorite fight in the arena. Shame it never got within sword fighting range (much like my fight with Lyzan!! Why won't people fight me in melee! D=)

To be honest, maybe because I was the opponent, I actually felt Tablurath was at a disadvantage. XD

Since he did not have Raelis's speed, mobility, strength, range and most importantly his durability (Khazna being purely a Saber class relying on physical damage has no way to prep offensive attacks.) I suppose its all a matter of perspective really.

As for the last post, we may never know! I'd have to start writing a post and getting into his shoes again, but I did think before going to bed after I read it was when Khazna had cut a thread during the match until then. Since the loses he had was when he pulled one thread of energy of course. Oh well.

Ash, Wind, and Fire

Howling winds forced black ash in every direction. In turn blowing the forming sword clones in different directions around Raelis. In flight however, they continued to form. The rigors of combat were little hindrance to the machines work thanks to their ability to form matter from the stored sources thus far within themselves, and they now had plenty. Then the winged warrior played his gambit. Finally releasing the energy stored in his legs as he channeled it into another object. That object of course being the very ground at their feet. A similar situation occurred in the very air around them as the temperature raised once more to a dangerous degree.

A deadly trap that would have spelled the end of even the most powerful of opponents. As the heat transferred into the ground at his feet Khanza’s eyes witnessed the streams of magic forming as threads expanded out into the areas affected. The heat energy required itself to emit ahead of the effect naturally. A process that was almost instant. Tablurath response however, was swift, decisive, and deliberate.

He swept the sword in his left hand down and around to swing up again, shearing through a thread built by the energy channeling the effect near his feet. Essentially cutting away the very act of the channeling, in turn the heat suddenly transferring into the floor simply vanished. It did not dim, nor was it absorbed. Having cut the effect that had allowed such power to appear here, it thus could never arrive. That cleanly handled the ground, but the air around Tablurath rose suddenly as heat energy transferred that power into the wind around them itself.

Swinging the momentum of his first cut around he sheared another string that had been transferring heat into the air around him. That effect thus began to collapse on itself, effectively starting the entire process to channel that heat back to step one for both air and ground respectively. The heat and light itself might not be magic, but they had been brought here through that very power, thus cutting it from existence destroyed the effect. The effect being the transferring of all that heat into another medium.

Tablurath had reacted to the casting as he had done to any such magic before, regardless of the method, without the catalyst of magic to start the process, the effect it created be it fire, ice or wind, would cease to be. This was Tablurath’s fighting art drilled into him as a child, all for the purpose of defeating Dreamers and god-like beings of similar energy manipulation.

The angel at the gate was no more than a momentary obstacle. The path of both cuts had cut away the bindings to Tabluraths training weights attached to each side of his legs, shearing through some of his cape in the process. The earlier pressure of wind had cast his swords adrift around them, just a little over 8 meters away. The Cardinal had measured the distance perfectly, having seen earlier that the winged knight’s air control seemed to stretch at range of 8 meters. He had goaded the man into blowing each sword to the edge of that border.

Outside his effective range, but not beyond Tabluraths Flash-point. As they now assembled just 26 feet away. The ground was a shadow of the warmth the Asaran had intended, but with the mibs gone now it was revealed that the floor had been eaten away to a flat platform by the cloud of nanomachines. They had served their purpose, leaving only the sword blades imbedded into the ground earlier.

In one blur of movement Tablurath was suddenly gone. Moving faster than even his avian blooded friend would be able to follow. Appearing 27 feet away to the wing warriors far left side. His momentum stopped in place as he gripped one of the earlier cloned blades before it had even hit the ground.

There at the Asaran’s feet was Mercy, dropped earlier by Tablurath in his faint moments ago. Energy poured through Khazna’s form, but so too did the realization he would need to act quickly. The effects of this place would wear on him quicker than normal now that he had begun using his full potential.

No more planning only action would follow.

He blazed forward appearing at his opponents left side swinging for his midsection. Before the blade ever met resistance however he was gone again. Appearing ten feet in front of Raelis before moving again to another sword spinning to his far left side. He repeated his earlier action and used the anchor that was Mercy and its copy to zero in on his opponents location. The world a great blur now even to Tablurath’s preternatural sight-- and if Khazna could scarcely see anything, his opponent was even worse off trying to follow him with his eyes.

Appearing at the Asaran's right side now all this in little more than a second’s time, as Tablurath swung from left to right, aiming for the Asaran’s right wing. If his guess had been right before, the wing warrior’s defenses were automated, meaning he would sacrifice defenses for one area to defend the other. There was no reason it would not do so again.

As for his opponents heat gathered into his sword and leg armor; those were untouched as channeling had started earlier for them. But should his opponent attempt to channel into the air around him or the ground at his feet again, the results would not change. The Cardinal was qutie ready for either of those moves now. His eyes zeroing in on further threads of power.

Now it was time to see how long his opponent would last being attacked from multiple locations almost simultaneously. It had now become a game of attrition.

I might not be able to post until after Monday, so Not sure if Skalla wants to extend the time or not.

The thing about Raelis' abilities is they can all build up rather quickly. He can pressurize air by moving. His heat is basically a passive prep (meaning it builds up at a constant rate as long as he devotes energy to channeling it). The electromagnetic bit is less a prep, but more a build up.

If it's not a prep, it'd still be just fine considering the other points, which is why I mentioned both points rather than just one point.

For all intensive purposes I don't consider Raelis' heat generation a prep, nor the electromagnetic or wind bits. They behave similarly, but are not quite the same.

So the only thing that's feasibly being prepped is the armor. Anywho. Rather than edit my last post. Just presume he didn't waste much time, energy, or attention doing that.

Side note so that you're aware of this for my next post and don't mistake it for my character thinking it to be true, rather than it literally being true.

The Light of Devene is a magic which channels energy from their star, Rhay. This means that the magic is not the GENERATION of the heat/light, but instead is the guidance and channeling of this heat/light.

Ultimately this means that the "elemental," nature of the Devene light is NOT magic, but that their control of it is. So when I use heat magic, your starlhrim blades can't absorb the heat because they interact with magical/supernatural energy. What they will absorb is the energy that is guiding the magic. This means that the heat/light will remain where it was and will not disperse, weaken, dim, or lower in temp. It'll just sit there till a user of Devene light reconnects to it with their energies.

So yeah, absorbing his magic doesn't lower the temperature or dim the light, but instead disrupts his control of that heat and light. This is OOC knowledge and since Khazna, or the Angar-Rylla, have not made contact with the Asarae he has no business knowing or predicting it because he shouldn't know how the magic works.

If I see you countering it due to having "predicted it," I am going to be be upset. With that in mind *works on his reply*

Edit: Noted in regards to his mask.

Ah, well it mentioned the air prep of six turns or something awhile ago so I was confused about what was the prep and what was not. I was going to edit my post to reflect the parry's not causing the armor to be cleaved, but I guess it won't matter now that you posted anyway.

The nature of Devene is not all that important. Since what Khazna does is not absorb magic, he cuts the threads that caused or allowed it to exist. This essentially means it possesses no future, no past, and thus never existed. Causing the effect to meet a sort of paradox that causes the effect to collapse. For example a spell that created fire or wind would not mean the fire itself is magic, he merely cut out the magic from its past thus causing the fire to cease to exist in the now.

He can basically see space time (in short he has a dreamers vision though it is imperfect as he can't read the future only see the threads) though he can't physically manipulate space or time himself, but he can cut the magic/channeling in the past that created the effect thus it ceases to exist or happen. Make sense? It's a tad hard to explain, but as long as magic caused the effect, or started the channeling of it to a place. If it never happened the effect wont exist in the now.

I don't care about my gender one way or another but it does save me some money by being a guy. Plus guys are usually not very romantically attractive so dodged a bullet there. I feel sorry for people who have to date guys. xD

Edit: I actually don't find naked people attractive or reproductive organs either. Guess I'm kind of asexual but women can look attractive. Don't know if it really counts as asexual if you still find people attractive even if you don't care if you ever have sex or not. Guess I'm kind of weird either way. Boobs are okay but it's not like they are awesome or anything.

Trust me people with low libidos live much easier lives.
