Rule are meant to be broken... I guess.

Don't feel too down about "overcomplicating" it or whatever. You're alright, and we're all fine. So no worries.

It didn't take very long for the C2 building to become cram-full of foreigners like himself, especially considering its massive size. It was like a train back in Japan, or maybe more like an immensely popular muscian's sold-out concert. Fortunately Arata had arrived early enough not to be like one of the unfortunate late arrivals stuck in the cramped spaces near the entrance. The ESPer looked down and twiddled his fingers as he waited for Dr. Queen's presentation to start.

'I wonder what this assembly's all about...' the Japanese student thought as the doctor in question took to the stage. Arata listened to the doctor speak like the astute student he was. It looked like once more the Queen legacy would work another one of their miracles. However, as grand as this one was, one could only hope it wouldn't result in something akin to their other crowning achievement. This talk of 'refining the present to usher in an era of the future' seemed like it could go really, really badly. However, as the show went on, Arata had to express his doubts on his pessimism. Or perhaps just adopt a new thing to be pessimistic about, like this 'Truth Weiss' that supposedly embodied time and space - although Arata had to admit that, given his own existence, that such a thing should be possible, in theory at least. And was apparently made using the same doll plans as Elias Queen, the same woman who brought about the Magical Calamity a few decades ago.

Bode well, this did not.

The young man pushed his negative thoughts to the back of his head. If this was pulled off properly, the world would change for the better. Wasn't that something worth hoping for? A circuit opened up in Arata's head as the Truth Weiss spoke in its alien language, transmitting information into his brain. He didn't see what the big deal was, telepathy was a thing and this wasn't even future calculation; it was just regular old general knowledge of worldly science. Supposedly the 'embodiment of space-time' was going to show them all a 'refined version of their perspective'. That was fine and all, but when do both the space and time components come in? The Vessel of Magical Knowledge began chanting again, but this time it was... distorted? It was something like static in the space manipulator's brain. He barely registered the alarms sounding, designating the status of a Level 5 Emergency. People rushed past the ESPer, trying to escape the C2 building as a rift began opening, spawning demons in its wake.

He gazed into the abyss.

"----Ah....?"

A fragment of his mind breaks. He could not comprehend it no matter how hard he tried. His vision was fading, consumed and corrupted by the maelstrom. The eldritch world, the alien geometries, the incalculable vistas of that demonic realm.... His consciousness, his whole being was degenerating in the presence of this rabbit hole, this window into an incomprehensible reality. Static consumed his hearing. He couldn't stay here, or he'd die. Maybe it would be the demons, maybe it would be the building, maybe it would be that godforsaken breach... But he couldn't move, no matter how hard he tried. He twitched his fingers, trying to clench his fist with the entirety of his existence. If he could do that, he could hang on to his sanity.

"G...Gah-----!"

Strength returned to Arata. His limp hand was a fist. The ESPer forced his arm to obstruct his gaze from that dreadful rift. He moved his legs forward; there was nothing but air. His senses were returning to him. He registered the sounds of screams and gunfire, failing foundations and fiendish sounds. He was slumped against the wall, jolts of pain shooting through his legs. He stepped up onto the ground, bracing himself against the wall. He took a weak step forward, and then another. He stumbled down the stairwell from the balcony seating.

A shock ran through Arata's brain as he bore witness to the rift's malevolent radiance once more. He shielded his eyes from the sight before more damage could be done.

'D-Dammit, there's no exit on this side...' he thought, teeth grit as he glanced about the area. Leaving meant passing the battlefield, which meant exposing himself to demons. His body trembled as his sense of feeling had begun to return. Thus, there was only one way to leave here alive-- a visceral cracking noise came from his legs as pain of a thousand needles shoot up from his trampled shins ---and that was to stop these demons. Arata collapsed before his bones could snap in half. He couldn't send the demons back into their hellish domain or kill them outright. Not right now at least.

--But he could close the breach.

Arata propped himself up against the wall. He didn't trust his power under his current state, but he'd have to pour all his faith into this one action. He dropped his arm and faced the full force of the rift's effects head on. "Grrr..!" he growled gutterally as he resisted. He was going to break again. Nononono. He couldn't let himself break; he was the only one here who could close the rift.

'Designating points....'

'....Points set. Editing spatial parameters....'

....Parameters set. Execute function.

There was no fanfare, giant explosion, resounding boom, or any such theatrical nonsense. The rift was just gone, leaving an empty stage and an absolutely gigantic headache for the young ESPer who'd sealed it.
So was someone going to close the protle?

Yes hello.
Nah, you're fine Madani. Universe rules exist for a reason.

...How did I not think of this before? If the HWMDs are the Level 5s of this world, then we all need cool code names!
There are two types of [PEB], one is called [Internal Pure Energy Bank] (IPEB) and [External Pure Energy Bank] (EPEB). [IPEB] are [PEB] that equipped directly into the Madou whilst [EPEB] are not, which is similar to power-bank for cellphone. [EPEB] also has [PEA] on it to refill energy similar to a Madou but without a [PEC]. [PEA] work as a brake or stopping mechanism. When told so, it will re-convert and dissolve the produced magic or energy back into [Pure Energy]. In case of the Madou is running out of energy, [PEA] will passively refill the [PEB] by absorbing nearby [Pure Energy] in the air.
This bit makes me think differently though. Since an ESPer could just slap a pack into their Madou and go wild.
Madou detect this through the user brainwave. The user's brainwave pattern and data are registered in advance upon equipping, making other people unable to use it. If the user are mentally weak, the less powerful/complex magic can be produced as the user's mind will be the core of the magic mechanism.
Though I guess with this little bit, you could say that it's incompatible with ESPers, but ESPers should be really mentally strong given the basis of their ability is mental and the registration to brainwave shouldn't do anything weird, since it seems that Madou has nothing registered to it before someone first equips it.
Hmm... Well, I can't see anything that strictly says that ESPers can't use magic. I get the Madou uses regular Pure Energy, and ESP uses Genetic Pure Energy, but can't an ESPer just not use their GPE and use the PE in the air as a power source for their Madou?
Whoops, my hand slipped.
ESP in this RP is close to magic in general meaning. ESP emits/possess their own [Genetic Pure Energy] (Lets call it [GPE] for now) which count as different form of usual [Pure Energy]. To put it in perspective, [Pure Energy] is neutral-type attack, meanwhile GPE is a specified-type, like elemental attack you can say. This what makes Esper can only possess one power, like either telekinesis or pyrokinesis. Esper use their [GPE] as their power-source and the convert it as form of their power. I had mentioned why Esper can't be a Mage or use a Madou before, that also because [GPE] are not a "blank" energy and cannot be converted as any other form than by the possessor (Esper's brain) itself. In case of Espers activating their power, their body is their power-source and their brain is the converter. Esper's brain will convert/change the [GPE] inside their body and change it to the "manifested" form which is their power. ---- Magic meanwhile require a Madou. Madou itself can be in various form and shapes. Either its a bracelet, headband, or even earring, your choice. Madou is mechanism, not the machine itself. Madou is like a magic wand. You hold it, chant a spell, and it will cast magic. Madou works similarly. For example, let's say you want to cast Magic A and B in order with a gun-type Madou: Magic A: Hold the gun, chant "By my will, may ye be enlighten the holy ring!", pull the trigger, and it will shoot light magic. Magic B: Hold the gun, chant "By my will, may ye be perished by the wrath!", pull the trigger, and it will shoot fire magic. As for what the Madou is and what Magic, is up to you. My character use bracelet Madou and its triggered when he swings his hand in certain motion. You must have different trigger for each magic, be it the chant or how you pull the trigger (slow, fast, rapidly, etc). Magic operated by Madou is based on the user's brainwave or any other medium that Madou use to detect the user's will (like pressure, force, breathing, movement, etc). What Madou do is to detect "what magic this person want to use and can use" and will execute it accordingly. If a person attempting to cast a magic that is too hard for him it will either go rampage or won't even executed at all.
At current world, Pure Energy is everywhere just like air. This is caused by the magical calamity incident. As for why, unfortunately I can't explain it now, it's part of the plot in this story. But please note, that it doesn't close the possibility of someone creating an "anti-Pure Energy" room that prevent Pure Energy to enter/exist inside. ----------- Important to note that Esper can only use their [GPE] to manifest their power, they cannot use Pure Energy like a Madou used by Mage would. In normal case, Julia use her [GPE] to preserve her body on its "Prime State" which is around age of 25 judging from her outer appearance. But from there on, Julia Miller's power can go in two directions: 1. She constantly renew backup data of her current self (including memories and body) in her mind, either automatically or manually. By the the time her body is close to destruction (by enemy attack or whatever) she will execute the command "Create a new body and transfer my mind (consciousness) to it" and her power will use all of her remaining [GPE] to replicate her body. In the middle of this, her mind will be flying in the air until it goes to the new body. If this happen, Julia Miller will undoubtedly becomes younger (starting age of 7 to teenager) since her [GPE] will not be sufficient to fully reconstruct her body. She will suffer minor memory lost as well. 2. Part of her power is "Pure Energy Manipulation", but in case of this, she can only manipulate pure energy to reconstruct her body, nothing else. Why she can only manipulate that far is because that much is her mind can handle. Esper's genetic predetermined how far she can do, and it's decided by birth, cannot be changed. So, in case her body is close to destruction (like realllly close, say that she only have her head left) her mind will execute the command "Manipulate the surrounding Pure Energy, reconstruct my body, and transfer my mind to it". But the downside of this, even though Julia Miller is back to life, she's not exactly the same person she used to be. Body created by [GPE] posses genetic data which required to full reconstruction, but since she use Pure Energy for it, she can only create "A vessel that is like her", a mere copy you can say. The mind that is transferred to this new body will eventually dissolve itself to fit the new body, so, it's no longer the same Julia Miller. If you chose 1: Julia Miller can be truly die if she killed over and over again until she no longer posses enough [GPE] to reproduce her body. She won't have enough [GPE] to make anything if her physical age is less than 7 or so, it can't go any lower than that, or she can get really desperate and revert herself as a baby. If you choice 2: She can't die unless she wanted to. Unless being put into "Anti-Pure Energy" room, if any.
The reason why [Pure Energy] cannot be converted into [GPE] is because [GPE] is Pure Energy with genetic data of its owner. Like a character-bind weapon in MMORPG that cannot be worn by other player. You simply cannot register your genetic data to a [Pure Energy], it won't work the same as natural [GPE] and an Esper won't able to use that energy because it's not coming from their body. It's genetic. There is a cheat in this case actually, convert [Pure Energy] into... a pill or something and take it. And like any typical medical experiment story would, will have a side-effect of whatever it is. On side note, I like your idea of having her as a glutton. *Imagining a scene where a loli helplessly want to eat all day long*
This is why I wish to have all basic/fundamental/required information to be told in advance. My earlier post concerning it already buried in the OOC, so misconception is understandable.
I'll explain about Magic later. I'll just state the obvious for now.
<Snipped quote by chukklehed> It matter of whatever the information is precise. We don't know to what extend our knowledge is right or even know if we got all information we require. If someone tries to execute something with unsure probability, high chance it will fail and will lead to tragedy. Naturally I won't mind if it's a robot or alien doing it, we won't have to explain anything. <Snipped quote by Raijinslayer> First, Magic in this RP setting is pretty simple (it will be problematic if it's not) so worry not. Second, the differences between normal human and Espers is that Espers produce [GPE]. [GPE] is not a substance and more like a body heat. So eating dead Espers won't do him harm. But Espers' brain works slightly differently compared to normal human, so I suppose it won't be odd if there is side effect of devouring Espers' brain.
<Snipped quote by Madani> A week had passed since the day I said that. Since I had nothing to do, here is it:
Man, I'm starting to forget what else to say about Madou. Any question?
Also that ESP/GPE thing makes me wonder how the hell Arata's power even works, but that's a story for another day.
It is a go go!
Curses. Insane Lovecraftian spatial manipulation would've been cool. Oh well, being hero isn't that bad either. Good for character development. Speaking of insane Lovecraftian stuff, @Madani is it possible we can get more info on demons and their homedimension?
Alrighty, supposed I'll take a defibrillator to this RP. @Masaki Haruna, is it cool if I use Arata's power to seal up the rift or is that a no-go? Alternatively if I'm not allowed to do that, am I allowed to have him blue screen at the sight of it as his puny human mind cannot comprehend the chaos of the other dimension, thus opening up a development path for insane Lovecraftian spatial manipulation?
Eh, I see Jelly's online. May as well quote these and see if any are relevant to future postings.
Hmm, I wonder how Arata's space manipulation'll react with Truth Weiss' embodiment of space-time and the big rift into what may or may not be the 'world' of demons. Gah, getting motivation during classes is the worst
<Snipped quote by Grey> While we're at it, how Annette's Wave Manipulation will react with all this exotic radiation being put out
