~~~ The next day~~~
Béatrix ordered a drink from the bubby flight attendant once the plane had taken off. She pulled up the shade so she could stare out of the window at the sparkling blue ocean below. This trip was supposed to help clear her mind but she wasn’t having much luck yet. Her thoughts kept wandering back to him, to their heated exchange. Trixy’s eyes flashed bright with desire and she was thankful that she was wearing sunglasses to cover them when the stewardess returned with her drink.
The flight from JFK to Edinburgh took a whopping 7 hours, making Trixy all the more thankful that she’d splurged and got the direct flight, rather than one with connections. The landing went smoothly and Béatrix was able to retrieve her small luggage tote without any hassle. Frida wasn’t much for modern technologies so, when Trixy visited like this, it was up to her to get to her Grandsire’s little house in the hills. It also was generally a surprise visit, since Frida didn’t use phones.
Trixy paid for a cab out into Middle-of-nowhere, Scotland, tipped generously and waved to the driver politely. The femme fatale vampire looked a bit out of place in the rural scene, but Frida was right: Scotland was beautiful this time of year.
As was usual, Frida felt Trixy’s presence before she saw her. The front door of the old home burst open and out flew the most beautiful blonde Trixy had ever laid eyes upon. The sight would never cease to shock her.
“Granddaughter! What a lovely surprise!” Frida cooed and dove in for a huge hug. Béatrix practically melted into the woman. Frida invited her in for tea and a long overdue chat. Her soul mate, a very old Irish witch named Aislinn, set to boiling water for tea while Frida and Béatrix sat at the table.
Béatrix ended up pouring her heart out to the ancient woman. Ex-viking or not, Frida was the kindest soul she had ever known, and the love she shared with Aislinn was hard not to idolize. Frida put her hand on Trixy’s to comfort her. Being the empath that she was, Frida could have easily taken the feelings away, but that would do little to solve the underlying problem.
“Oh, dear girl. The world has turned you into a hardened warrior, but I promise you, you deserve this. You’ve gone so long without love that you’ve forgotten what it feels like. Any number of years in love, no matter how few, are far more precious than an eternity of loneliness. I know you see the wolf as a curse, but perhaps the fates are granting you a kindness. He is strong, nearly your age, immortal, and his heart has felt the same pain as yours.”
Trixy traced her fingers along the grains of the wooden table. It was kind of awkward to receive advice like this from her late soul mate’s sire. But Frida was family, some of the only family Trixy had known.
“Although, I don’t think it matters what I say. Your heart knows what it wants, even if that over analytical mind of yours denies it. What you should do is go see your family.”
“But, you are my family!” Trixy said defensively. Frida chuckled warmly “That may be so, but I was referring to your French family. You were telling me how you finally met the current Delacroix generation last year, now that us vampires are ‘out-of-the-coffin’ to the humans.”
The graceful red haired woman brought over the tea, and sat beside Frida. “You will find peace there, it is written in your fate.” Aislinn chimed in, using her eerie witchy voice.
“Well then, who am I to try to outrun my fate?” Trixy joked before taking a sip of her tea. “I suppose it has been too long since I visited home…”
It seems like you put a lot of thought and work into that character, but I don't know that it would fit in this role play at all. Although, that's not my call to make, I'm not the gm.
@FallenTrinity
Fantastic! I've always wanted to travel across the big pond in some fashion. What for?
I'm just sitting here waiting for some action. :3
@Altered Tundra
I like the way it looks, but the text is a little off and seems to be missing the last sentence. It is supposed to read:
"We all carry these things inside that no one else can see. They hold us down like anchors. They drown us out at sea."
It's okay if the text takes up more of the image, I don't mind that.
@XxLyraxX
Glad to hear you're still around and doing better.
@Remipa Awesome
If you want to, go for it! Anything to keep this alive. I put a lot of work into it. :[
Kiara looked up at her father with pleading eyes. Cynbel was unseelie as well and, as such, a slave to his love for troublemaking, and the tone he used oozed trouble. Upon looking at his daughter and her adorable puppydog eyes, he caved. "As you wish, Princess.” Kiki’s eyes widened and scanned the immediate area, hoping nobody heard that. Technically, being the great granddaughter of the Queen did make her a Princess, but Moriganne had reigned for nearly a millennia, and that wasn’t looking to change anytime soon.
“But, I’m afraid that means we must cut this dance short, as said admirer is coming this way.” Cynbel held her hand and spun Kiara out of their embrace. They were the most graceful dancers on the entire floor and had gained several onlookers over time. Kiara responded to the spin with a dip, arching her back as she extended her right arm back in a pretty straight line before being pulled back towards her father. “I must be going soon, anyway. But, before I do, I need to apologize for something.” There was a steely seriousness in the war chief’s eyes that made Kiara feel uncomfortable. "I wasn’t there for you when you needed me. I was and continue to be a terrible father.” he admitted in a whisper. It wasn’t like him to show any emotion besides those found in war and battle, and the grief of losing his mate.
Kiara reached a pale scrawny hand up to his cheek. “It’s okay.” It wasn’t. “You were just following the code: Passion before duty. War is your passion and I am just...” her voice caught in her throat as she tried to hide the hurt in her eyes. “I will grow and learn here, and prove myself worthy of passion, not duty.”
Cynbel kissed her forehead once more. Kiara closed her eyes, hoping to hold back tears, while Cynbel’s eyes locked with the dragon’s over her head. In one look, Cynbel passed judgement, reluctant approval, and an underlying threat, before returning his attention to his daughter. “You already are.” he said and stroked her cheek softly before turning to walk away. It felt like the ground was shaking, but maybe that was just the feeling of her heart breaking. Again. Kiara looked after him, his gossamer cape billowing out from his armor, adorned with the royal crest of the Unseelie fae. So much for trying to keep a low profile…
“Hello Kiara have we been enjoying the festivities?” Suleykaar’s voice brought her back to the present. Shit. She had approximately three milliseconds to compose herself and hide any signs of weakness from the dragon before turning to face him. “Let’s see…” she began with a dark grin. “I stole a kiss and I danced with two of the most handsome men in the room so far. I’d say that’s a pretty good start.” She took a step towards him and crossed her arms behind her back coyly. “Have you come to me to make it better, or worse?” she asked in a sultry voice, her eyes the same shade of red that dancing with Morgan had brought out earlier.
