If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.
Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

History
What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

It's not the soldiers, the black vans or the black helicopters you should be concerned with. There is something more menacing out there that may do harm to your communities...
@Legatus Bellum When I began work on the weapons available to our characters, I focused on equipment made in the late 1930s. Therefore, anything used in 1940 and later was off limits. Some of this stuff, I really like, including this SMG, so I included it with the foot note that it is still under production. but if @LetMeDoStuff wants to include it, this is his prerogative. His guidance was to focus on equipment used in the late 1930s.
The AC140 (Automatic Carbine, Model 140 or Machine Pistol 140) is a submachine gun originally designed in 134 by Grigory Rubinov. The AC140 has a conventional wooden stock, fired from an open bolt, and capable of selective fire. This weapon weighs 3.2Kg empty and measures 79cm in length. The barrel length is just over 27cm. The weapon chambers a 7.62x25mm cartridge, using a blowback or open blot operation. It sports an impressive 800 – 1000 rounds per minute with a 490-meters per second muzzle velocity. Its effective firing range is an unimpressive 200 meters, but is quite durable. This SMG using a 25-round detachable box magazine or a 71-round drum magazine. It is quite popular with then Avean Infantry officer corps.
The AC140 is based on the Soviet PPD-40 which was produced and issued as of 1935.
ACsh141 (Automatic Carbine Model 141 or Short Machine Pistol 141) is a submachine gun designed in 139 by Karl Short to improve upon the AC140, still in production. The ACsh141 is a cheap, reliable, and simplified alternative to the AC140. The Short Carbine is a magazine fed selective fire submachine gun using an open bolt, blowback operation. Made largely of stamped steel, it can be loaded with either a box or drum magazine and fires the 7.62x25mm cartridge. The ACsh-141 weighs 3.63kg and measures 84cm in length. The Short SMG has a rate of fire of 900 – 1100 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 488 meters per second. This weapon has an effective range out to 150 meters and can engage targets out to 250 meters. The weapon can employ a 35-round detachable box magazine or a 71-round drum magazine. This weapon is still in production and expected to come off the assembly line soon.
The ACsh 141 is based off the Soviet PPSh-41 which is an outstanding submachine gun. Many German soldiers invading the Soviet Union in 1941 dropped their weapons in favor of the Soviet SMG. This gun was issued in 1941.
More than likely it is Army National Guard. They belong to the state and can be ordered into an area by the Governor. Federal troops require special orders from Congress or the President to do anything.
Combat Engineers use explosives to blow things up rather than wrenches and screwdrivers to fix stuff. Engineers are like grunts (infantrymen) who know how to blow stuff up.
@LetMeDoStuff, did you post that list of equipment anywhere? At least small arms? I noticed he wrote M12 Carbine.
These are based on Soviet Small Arms that were available prior to 1940...
Pistols Model 100 “Reissend” is a seven-shot, gas-seal revolver chambered for a 7.62x38mm cartridge, featuring an unusual "gas-seal" system, in which the cylinder moved forward when the gun was cocked, to close the gap between the cylinder and the barrel, providing a boost to the muzzle velocity of the fired projectile and allowing the weapon to be suppressed (an unusual ability for a revolver). This pistol is venerable, but quite durable. This pistol has already been produced in significant volume. An estimated 2,000,000 Model 100s have been produced.
Model 137 “Krupin” is a Gersan semi-automatic pistol developed in 132 by Teodor Krupin as a service pistol for the Avean military to replace the Reissend M100 revolver that had been in use for over 30 years. The Model 137 chambers a 7.62x25mm cartridge and holds an 8-round box magazine. This weapon has only been in production for a short time. Only a few thousand have been manufactured. They are currently being produced at a rate of about 150 per month, but with war on the threshold, this rate can easily climb to 2500 per month.

Appearance Karl stands 6’3” tall and weighs 220 Lbs. He is of a muscular build with sandy blonde hair, cut short and steel gray eyes. A few scars adorn his body including a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. The scar tissue is the same diameter of the Wrea Federation’s rifles, 7.92mm (0.31”). There are other scars from knives or other sharpened tools, but the scar to the left shoulder, received in combat with the enemy is his bitterest reminder of why he is here.
Karl wears the dark brown wool/cotton blend uniform of the Gersan Coalition. The jacket extends to the crotch area with four pockets across the front; two high at breast level and two low at waist level. Gold buttons adorn the pockets and four larger gold buttons provide closure to the jacket at the center of the body. The jacket has epaulettes on both shoulders displaying an olive drab board with no stripe, indicating the rank of a Private. The edge of the board is lined in a red pin stripe identifying him as an infantryman. His footwear are a pair of black leather boots ending just below the knee. He wears a black 2” wide leather belt at the waist and load bearing equipment made of leather and canvas. He has two headgear. One is a dark brown garrison cap; the thin rectangular shaped cap that spreads over the head and is tapered to a point at the top. The second is his olive-green steel pot intended as protection against shrapnel. He also has a pair of black leather gloves and a heavier olive green jacket for inclement weather.
Personality Karl is a bitter man. He is filled with hatred only wanting to kill. He does not care if he lives or dies somtimes. Yes, even he has good days and bad. He is an emotional person, wearing his heart on his sleeve. He tends to be a loner because he does not want to be hurt by making friends with someone and seeing them die. Often times he feels he has nothing more to live for. Most of the time he keeps silent unless he is spoken to. He will respond. He does tend be negative more than positive, brooding over some mishap or streak of bad luck recently hitting him. When urged into action, he will take charge, loud and violently yelling out commands as he sees fit. For the most part he is disciplined, listening to the NCOs appointed over him. But in the lack of guidance, he may be moved to take charge.
To be filled in as characters arrive. Updated as necessary. Sergeant Gurthan Svaska (NPC): The Avean squad leader appears to be of the standard Avean Army NCO caliber; hard nosed and by the books. WEll, as by the books as an NCO can get in this hastily built regiment of the 65th Division. Karl and Sergeant Svaska have an understanding. They both know that if the former Harcsen NCO screws up, the Avean NCO will not hesitate in silencing his life for ever. Karl is not in a hurry to die, even if his actions may speak otherwise. He watches what he says and does around the burly Sergeant.
Corporal Isiah Neskrivich: Karl is suspicious of the Mundae, not knowing what to make of him and his cameras. He will follow the man simply because he is wearing NCO rank. But if he does something stupid, respect will dissipate some. If the Corporal does not live up to expectations, Karl knows he may just have to take charge.
History Karl was born in Kiel, a coastal city of Buo. His family had been fishermen since time immemorial. Karl’s father, Gustav was a fisherman and his grandfather, Ytzhak was also a fisherman. Karl hated fishing. He hated the water and wanted to have nothing to do with the water. He placated his father by engaging the profession as a young man, but silently wished he were doing something else.
Growing up was rough for Karl. When his father wasn’t fishing, he was drinking alcohol, drunk and beating Karl for any small infraction the boy might inflict. He was always getting into fights; sometimes he won, but more often he got beat. He always left his opponent knowing he had gotten into a fight.
As a young man, he joined the Hercsan Army of Buo serving as a rifleman. In six years, he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was perfect for the job. He was disciplined, knew his place and took care of his men. He felt as though he had finally found his place in the world. He served as squad leader for several years before the Wrea Federation came across the border with Buo and began destroying the countryside.
Sergeant Sedov’s unit was badly mauled over during their first baptism by fire, but the survivors were able to fall back, living to fight again. Karl’s 51st Rifle Regiment of Buo’s twelfth rifle division managed to make it over the Avean border just as the Gersan Coalition was formed and took up the mantle to collectively fight against the invading Wrea soldiers. Karl Sedov felt a fire burning in his chest; it was hatred for his enemy. It was during this first test of combat, Sergeant Sedov received a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.
A stalemate settled over the land with occasional firefights erupting at various points along the front line. Often times, the condition of sitting in one place cause soldiers to misbehave or act inappropriately. Sergeant Sedov and his squad silently made their way to the enemy side of the line without orders. The squad got into a fight with a numerically superior enemy. Karl did receive a slashing wound to his left bicep from a Wrea bayonet, but the squad made it back to friendly lines with only two soldiers killed in action.
Karl’s company commander was furious and ordered a court martial for the squad leader. He was reduced in rank to Lance Corporal and sent to the rear for a month. While he was resting and thinking about what he had done; he got drunk, stole a truck and made his way back to the front. He sought out his unit’s company commander. When the drunken Lance Corporal found the man, he pulled out a Krupin pistol and shot him in the forehead. The gunshot woke everyone in the vicinity and Karl Sedov was arrested. He was charged with murder and placed on death row upon conviction. This time he was demoted to the rank of Private.
While serving time in a military prison, he learned that his parents and grandparents were executed by the Wrea Federation. His brother, Roland, who he has not seen in years is currently serving in the Gersan Navy and his sister Katerina, who he also has not seen in years, serves as an NCO in the Gersan Sky-Navy. The news of his parents’ death has left him very bitter. He wishes only to avenge their deaths. Given the opportunity, he would return to the front line to serve the nation as a soldier rather than rot in prison or die at the hands of the executioner. He feels remorse for killing his Captain. He knew he lost control and that he should not have drank alcohol. It was his father’s demon and could become his as well. Restraint around alcohol has become his life lesson. One that may test him again in the future.
But now times are desperate for the Gersan Coalition and the top brass have decided it is necessary to scrape the bottom of the barrel so to speak in order to put up a stout defense against the Wrea Federation. As a convicted felon, those officers in their lofty positions who make decisions initially did not want to release prisoners convicted of murder or treason. But the Karl Sedov had an exemplary career prior to his malicious deed that landed him in prison. They eventually relented when the situation became dire. Their only condition was that he be placed under the command of a strong NCO who would not hesitate to kill Private Sedov if he were to get out of hand.
Family Gustav Sedov – Father, deceased. Killed by Wrea Federation occupation forces

They both know that if the former Harcsen NCO screws up, the Avean NCO will not hesitate in silencing his life for ever. Karl is not in a hurry to die, even if his actions may speak otherwise. He watches what he says and does around the burly Sergeant.
Maria Sedov – Mother, deceased. Killed by Wrea Federation occupation forces
Roland Sedov – Brother, 29 serving as a sailor aboard an Invigilator-Class Battleship known as the “Debilitor”. Roland holds the rank of Petty Officer Second Class and serves as a gunner’s mate on battery one, a three barrel 16” cannon turret.
Katerina Sedov – Sister, 33 is serving as a Chief Petty Officer aboard the “Buonaventure”, a Ferdez Class Destroyer. Her primary responsibilities are on the bridge of the Destroyer, supervising the lower enlisted sailors of the bridge crew.
Jacket and trousers are both dark brown wool/cotton blend. The jacket extends to the crotch area with four pockets across the front; two high at breast level and two low at waist level. Gold buttons adorn the pockets and four larger gold buttons provide closure to the jacket at the center of the body. The jacket has epaulets on both shoulders displaying an olive drab board containing the appropriate rank insignia. The edge of the board is lined in a red pin stripe. A red pin stripe identifies the soldier as infantry. Other colors would be used for other jobs like Armor, field artillery or Engineers. The Gersan soldier wears black leather boots ending just below the knee and a black 2” wide leather belt at the waist. The load bearing equipment is made of black leather straps and canvas pouches. The standard headgear is a dark brown garrison cap; the thin rectangular shaped cap that spreads over the head and is tapered to a point at the top. The second is an olive-green steel pot intended as protection against shrapnel. For colder weather, a pair of black leather gloves and a heavier olive green field jacket.
rank insignia: Private: No insignia Lance Corporal: one stripe (Lance corporal is equivalent to PFC in the US Army today or in WWII) Corporal: two stripes Sergeant: three stripes
What sort of naming convention if any should we use for our characters? I didn't know if you were looking for a specific nationality to emulate or if we could remain creative in this domain.

Theme Song: Warrior’s Call
Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago.
