There is no excuse for willful ignorance. Not everyone gets to choose what they do and do not learn, or what is and isn't part of their upbringing.

Thank you for your calm and civilized response. With so much hatred and vitriol from the rest of the posters, I was fearing the same retaliation from the mods and a whack from the banhammer.

I choose to believe that you posted this interest check without any malicious intent, and ignorance is not a crime. However, I hope you've learned a lesson from this about what is and isn't appropriate.

Here on the Guild, we don't believe in policing content, unless it violates the (very few) rules that we do have. Stuff like sexual content has been a problem for the site's continued existence in the past, so we obviously put a lid on that. Normally, however, gore is fine. If people want to describe a gruesome torture and execution in explicit detail, they are free to do so.

This, however, is so wildly distasteful that I won't allow it. The Rape of Nanking is a very serious atrocity, made even worse by the fact that the government of Japan refuses to acknowledge it ever happened. Additionally, creating a roleplay on the sole premise of describing warcrimes for points is so base and vile that, like many others here, I'm repulsed. This has no class. It doesn't belong anywhere civilized eyes can see it.

I will leave this thread open for a few more hours to allow people on both sides of the argument to reply, but after that I'm closing it, and if I ever see this roleplay coming to life there will be consequences.

The Insidious Night

Good work so far, lads. I'll fill out Thaddeus' relationships as soon as I have time (presumably tomorrow) but I can assure everyone that I'll go along with whatever ideas you've already expressed for your character's impressions. I'm especially impressed by @Dead Cruiser, who has perfectly captured Thaddeus' essence from an admittedly bare character sheet.

This bodes well! My aim is to write the opening post and get this show on the road before the weekend, so those of you with school or work-related obligations can get your first posts in then.
