I don't know if this is too private a question to ask, but I've always been curious. How successful has your self-publishing venture been thus far in terms of sales? What's Amazon like when it comes to exposure? Do you have to do all of the marketing yourself or is there some kind of recommendation algorithm you can try to game, like YouTube has?

Is forum Roleplaying beginning to slow down?

That said, there are still roleplaying forums that have more users and more activity than the Guild. The staff team and I have started looking into ways we can 'advertise' the site more and siphon some folks from the greater play-by-post roleplaying community.

Suggestions are also welcome, by the by.

Forums in general are in decline. The flight of social media and conglomerate websites like reddit are "to blame", if you want to speak in those terms. People like having a small handful of platforms that contain all their interests. Twitter fandoms, Instagram communities, subreddits, are all more convenient than a different forum for everything, so newer generations of internet denizens don't gravitate towards forums like we did 10-15 years ago.

Microfiction&Poetry Contest #1 - Voting and Feedback

My absolute favorite is Butter Flies. I pictured the whole thing as a Pixar movie in my mind's eye while reading and the last stanza made me chuckle out loud. Well done!

My runner-up is The summer of 20. I don't know much about poetry, but I think I recognized a few actual poetry and rhyming styles and tropes, and the use of language is eloquent and evocative.

I'd like to thank everyone for participating and providing me with some enjoyable reading.

Best wishes! Though with Ruby's departure, will the staff be looking for another admin? Or will you and/or Mahz be around more, since Ruby was so active she was basically the face of the staff, so I was wondering.

Yes, we're around more. Mahz is around to coordinate Guild improvements with LegendBegins and I'll here daily to focus on the moderation & community side of things.

Lookin' like a spiffy place to set up ah uh...operation if ya know what'm sayin'. I gots what you need. Good grammar, nice sentences, and a tommy gun loaded with emojis. Staff changes and updates

Some staff changes:

Ruby has stepped down as co-admin to focus on her family and her work. I'm grateful for the effort and dedication she's shown over the years and hope to see her around in the future.

Stormflyx has been promoted from Discord chat moderator to site moderator. One of the runner-ups from our last round of applications, she's well known as a prolific roleplayer and positive voice in the community, and I have no doubt that she will prove to be a valuable addition to our site team.

General updates:

We're looking into a rewrite of the rules to make them more concise and more transparent, while emphasizing the core value of the Guild: be Fonz cool. This won't affect the vast majority of you since you're very nice people, but I thought you should know.

The unpaid intern valued contributor who writes our beloved Guild News updates wanted me to tell you that they're working on a very special, very cool, very secret project for one of its upcoming issues. I don't want to give anything away, but...

Actually, no, it really is a secret. Exciting times! Stay tuned.

Last but not least, I found a sock that has been missing for a few months now. It was under my bed the whole time. I blame the cat.
