And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

Should have been writing posts. Took part in D&D shenaniganry instead. Got to fix that tomorrow.

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.
I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.
Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!
@EruditeAssassin Yah, Athletics does not apply to attack rolls. Generally no skills affect it as it pretty much is just raw attribute + proficiency.
Say, if you were kicking down a door the athletics would likely kick in. Or scaling a wall. Or swimming across a stream. But not on attacks, those run on the attack roll + damage roll system separate from your usual skill checks, much like saving throws. I hope I helped you understand it :)
EDIT: I'm assuming that you were making it as an attack, given the situation.
Oh, we have the full initiative tracker in effect. Guess mine is a bit redundant now then. Anyways, given how the two on the top of the list have already done their thing, it'd be your move @EruditeAssassin.
So there's that so we'll remember the supposed order of us. Of course, there's still the blank regarding the guards but I though I could help by putting these in the same place.
@darkandstar That clause is for improvised weapons that do not resemble an existing weapon, and I'd argue these picks are somewhat related to existing weapons. It's your call though.
@EruditeAssassin Yup, that is what it says. The thing is, war picks are designed to be wielded as a weapon, mining picks not as much. Probably an improvised weapon (so no proficiencies) but 1d8 in damage? I don't know.
Not that it'd matter in Travok's case simply because he doesn't have that type of proficiency anyway.
@The Harbinger of Ferocity You don't have to/get to roll twice to knock people prone, if you are using the shove action as discussed on PHB p.195-196 under "Shoving a creature". If your first roll succeeds you can just declare that they fall prone (or alternatively push them for five feet). Doesn't seem like you could combine the effects in RAW form, so it's up to the DM to call on that... Sorry about "rules lawyering", I guess I am just too used to doing it. The shove action replaces (up to?) one attack action, so doing both would kinda give you an extra attack.
@darkandstar Would the pickaxes be improvised weapons or something else? War Picks are a thing that exist but these are for mining, not going to war so it probably won't count as that, correct?
So now the elf was coming with them too, huh? They weren't usually the mining folk, the elves, but she probably didn't want to be left alone. That was all the sense Travok could make out of it. The cell would be left empty, but if he had to guess that would've been the case anyway. You don't bind up volunteers like that, no sir.
Before the guards got to binding him with the rest of the people, Travok faked a yawn and slipped the crystal back into his mouth for transport. Hopefully the guards would not be too keen on asking extra questions, but they hadn't given the impression. Travok made sure to get a spot as close to the small human as possible, they seemed to know something he didn't.
7 for a sleight of hand, in case I've got to check hiding the thing again. Should we just wait for DM to ask for rolls though, instead of rolling on our own?
The beginning of the trip through the dungeon proved him that this was not as small a place as the usual dungeon of a town... they must've transported him quite far. The most impressive piece of stonework there was to be seen was this bridge of theirs... but even that wasn't anything spectacular. Clearly form over function, although why they had had to dig this chasm under it was beyond him.
Finally having made their way to their stop, Travok could've breathed a sigh of relief once the bindings were off if that wouldn't have dropped the focus onto the floor again. He'd really have to check whether there were pockets on these rags, even if it was quite unlikely. He took the offered pickaxe and stayed close to his new acquaintance while taking a look around him. What kind of stone was this, even? He might know a few tricks if they were to have an actual working shift...
Rolled an 18 with Mason's tools proficiency regarding the type of stone here. In case that's applicable. Stonecunning unfortunately only works on the history of things...
