DC Comics: Shattered Justice

For those wondering, my main character will be Supergirl. Also considering Green Arrow and Lex Luthor, but waiting to see where everyone else falls.

We have 5 interested so far. I'd like to get into the 8-10 range before opening a thread up.

Might I suggest that, in regards teams, we kind of roll with what we have? I remember way back when on the Hype that teams that were established were kind of a little more lax, with people like the Human Torch and Deadpool playing large roles on the Avengers, because we leant more towards having active team members than teams of a single PCed character and six NPCs.

I think that kind of lends itself to more interaction than being too rigid about things. (I swear this genuinely isn't me trying to get Dick on the League)

Sure, that works. I was actually planning on killing more heroes that just Superman to have Doomsday's attack be even more devastating/force the League to really change, but I didn't want to do that before people picked characters haha

I have to say, I'm really glad this game is going to be further along in continuity-terms. No drawn out, convoluted origin stories or exposition just straight into the action from the beginning.

That's definitely part of why I did this. Universe is establish. No need for any origins unless you really want to go into that in flashbacks or something.

Yea, you have to play a DC character. I'm fine with people putting their own spin on said characters, within limits, as long as it's well written

All-Star Marvel: Audax Mundus Novus - Season 1 (Completed)

Every raindrop was like the beat of a drum to him, and his ears rang with a cacophony of sound. It was something that had terrified him as a child, leading him to stuff his head between pillows on rainy nights. That was before his grandfather arrived, however. That was before Stick taught him to hone his senses. With a deep breath, Matt Murdock centered himself. Instead of the rain, he heard the echoes as it bounced off his surroundings. The chaos melted away as he gained a clear "view" of his surroundings. He could virtually see every cracked seam of tar on the roof and the splashes of water as they fell.

It wasn't seeing. Not really. Nothing would ever bring his sight back. That was something the doctors made sure he knew all those years ago. But this was the next best thing. Like a bat, Matt knew where he was going. He knew where to make his next step. He knew how to judge a leap. Most importantly, he knew where to throw a punch or where to land a kick. He had been doing quite a bit a both over the last few months thanks to these extracurricular activities. Sure, he was sore in court the next day more often than not, but the Kingpin's men were behind bars.

That was the most important thing.

He rolled on the balls of his feet, taking a deep breath before taking off across the rooftop. When he came to the edge, he kicked off and flung himself flipping through the air. He landed deftly on the roof across from the original building, slipping only slightly in the wet conditions. His sensei would not have been happy with that. Sloppiness could be deadly in the heat of battle.

Stick wasn't here though. He hadn't been in a long time. Ever since Matt originally told him that he was going to clean up the city in the confines of the law. That was before Murdock realized how truly gone the city was. That was before the war between Kingpin, the Rose, and Silvermane. Before Hell's Kitchen became a warzone.

"I'll see you later, man," a voice said as the door to the dive bar below creaked open. As the man stepped from underneath the overhang covering the entrance, he cursed as the driving rain began to soak him. "Fuck this shit."

He pulled a hood up over his head and trudged into the back alley next to the bar, mumbling as he did. From above, Daredevil stalked along the roof, making sure there were no other goons walking along with him. There were none. He was alone.

With another flip, the Devil was behind him. The vigilante grabbed his head and slammed him into the alley wall. The man stumbled back and fumbled for a gun in his waistband. With a flick of his wrist, Daredevil tossed his billy club at the dealer's hand, knocking it away. At the impact, Matt could hear several bones in the hand shatter. Murdock delivered a strong strike to the sternum, knocking the wind out of him so he couldn't scream before binding his hands.

"What the hell are you waiting for, freak!?" the man who spat at the vigilante. "I ain't telling you a thing!"

Joe D'Antonio was a drug dealer who peddled his poison to the high schools in the area, using students to sell directly to the others. Matt had managed to find him through one of said kids. He hadn't hurt the young man, of course. Kids were easy to scare. But D'Antonio thought he was a street hero. He had killed men in the service of the Kingpin. He had fought in the turf wars. He wasn't going to break by some intimidation.

Luckily, there were other ways to make street trash talk.

"Oh, you'll talk," Matt spun his billy club in his hand. "Or you won't be able to by the time I'm done. Where do your drugs come from?"

"Screw you, man," he growled.

Matt grabbed the injured hand with one of his own, covering his opponent's mouth with the other, stifling a yell. Daredevil felt the splintered bones shift under the pressure of his grip, "Now, I'll ask again. Where do your drugs come from?"

Daredevil put more and more pressure on the injured man's hand. He could hear the man's heart racing as pain shot through his body. Matt had to be careful not to send him into shock. He let off, and Joe let out a yelp of pain, "Fine...fine. I don't know who I get 'em from. I get a shipment every Tuesday. That's all I know. Someone recruited me. I said yes. I get me orders every Tuesday. That's all I know man. Please."

Murdock untied the man, who collapsed to the alley floor. When he looked up, the vigilante was gone.

The Justice League struggles to regroup after the devastating attack.

And Superman lies dead next to the beast that carried it out.

In the world of DC Comics: Shattered Justice, Superman has fallen in battle with the beast known only as “Doomsday”, leaving the world without its greatest protector. Supervillains, believing the heroes to be weakened and disorganized, grow more bold in the face of the Man of Steel’s absence. A wounded Justice League now scrambles to assert their control over an escalating situation while Batman and a cabal of heroes tries to uncover the mysterious origins behind Doomsday and the true threat they all face. In Metropolis, Lex Luthor begins to rebuild the city in his image, while Supergirl struggles with a legacy she never expected to carry.

This game involves a DC universe that is more “mature”, in that the heroes are established and sidekicks are around and active. This frees people up from having to do origin stories and we can get down to business.

The players will shape the story in this world, though I have a few story beats for everyone.

• 1990's - Thomas and Martha Wayne are killed in an apparent mugging, leaving their son Bruce orphaned and one of the richest people on the planet.
• 2009 - Superhumans appear on the map as Superman reveals himself to Metropolis. Within months others join him on the scene. Wonder Woman and Aquaman team up to take down a sea serpent off the coast of California. Batman begins a one man war against Gotham’s criminal underworld. The Flash becomes Central City’s guardian. Dozens of heroes appear, marking the true start of the super powered age.
• 2010 - The arrival of BRAINIAC above Metropolis is too much for Superman to handle alone. In response, he calls up Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Aquaman to defend the city from the living computer, marking the beginning of the Justice League.
• 2012 - The rise of the “sidekick” and formation of the first Teen Titans team. Superman and his cousin, now called “Supergirl”, take on General Zod and his Kryptonian lackies who escape from the Phantom Zone.
• 2013 - The Justice League expands, adding heroes to the main roster and spinning a second team off known as “Justice League International”.
• 2014 - The first Teen Titans graduate to a preliminary Justice League team known as “Young Justice”, and a new group takes over the Titans. Believing they have no other choice against the heroes, a group of the world’s supervillains band together and battle them. Known as The Legion of Doom, their clash ignites worry in the world over escalating superhuman activity.
• Christmas Eve 2015 - Doomsday arrives on Earth. He encounters the JLI first, tearing through the team on a beeline for Metropolis. When he gets there, Superman engages him alone, realizing that he’s the only one who stands a chance. The rest of the world’s heroes do their best to evacuate the city. By midnight, Doomsday and Superman lay dead.

You are allowed 2 characters to begin with. More will be at the discretion of the GM.

Travel involving time, dimensional multiverses, or any other concepts would be on a GM-approved basis.

Please do not kill player-created characters or important NPC’s unless given the go-ahead to do so.

Please be courteous and respectful of others’ stories. Don’t jump into stories without consulting the person starting them. This does not include GM started “big game” events.

Please refrain from having your character perform any random game-changing actions.

Respect the GM staff and their authority.

Be creative.

Legacies (NPCs, sidekicks, rogues) fall under the jurisdiction of the hero. If you want to play The Joker, The Batman player has to be okay with it.

No post should be made that contradicts the host website's rules, so keep those in mind.

One note on the Kingpin. In my Spider-Man application, it has been established that there has been a sort of criminal civil war being fought between several factions, including the Kingpin, the Rose, and Silvermane. However, since this all started back when Gwen died (which happened several months ago in the IC/pre-IC), we can make it so that the Kingpin has regained his foothold as the dominant force in the criminal world, but these factions are also still alive and well.
