Just ran a stale yellow. Nobody on this website is doing it like me, sticking it to the man like me, blazing a trail against tyranny like me. the only thing revolutionary about you is your rhetoric

Takeru Segawa is the type of man they made myths out of. Intensely privileged to be able to say I watched him burn so bright as he did before going out with a win. I’ll miss you, hero.

a frayed thread on the colorful tapestry of our existence, begging to be yanked until the whole thing unravels, a suggestive, inviting golden glow around the idea of leaking my buddy's DMs to his wife

Before you ask if I've weebed out on you with this work's title, First off: Yes. Secondly: It's descriptive of the story, trust me. It's some entry-level cheeky wordplay in the style of the author I set out to emulate with a certain expressive-haired hero, and speaking of which, it's in first-person for this go around. Hopefully it'll give some insight as to where he comes from.

Enjoy.

"I'll have you know Bowser is incredibly well-behaved. He knows better now." he returned. "And shut up, Noel. I can deal with our leader leaving his clothes around perfectly well myself."

Seating himself, he deftly placed a napkin in his lap, took up knife and fork in hand, and made an elegantly precise first cut of juicy, flavorful steak in the span of one and a half seconds. It was the kind of time only practiced ease could beget, and as he speared the meat with his fork, he began once more to their retreating forms, his voice easily carrying despite not even facing them.

"Not to worry, I'll have Tarik taken care of. You two go socialize, Noel could use the practice."

Casual potshots at the team's designated tease-victim aside, he nonethless raised the arm and waved.

"Oh, and the steak is perfect, as always."

The door finally shut behind him, leaving the young man alone with his meal in the room.

Now then, onto business.

His scroll emerged from the pocket once more, speed-dialing Kek's number with a press of "5".

As it rang, he held it to his ear even as another cut of meat slid down his throat.

You're a bit past "fashionably late", Tarik.

Habitually shooting her a glare before remembering it'd do no good, I flipped the note to find something resembling handwriting.

Now, granted, I say "resembling" in that most handwriting I've encountered wasn't like this, least of all my own. You may expect me, being super insightful and analytical to have a very modulated, proper aesthetic to my notes, but you'd be completely wrong in that. My notes come fast and loose, because, hey, as long as I can read it, speed kills the work faster.

In contrast, what I was looking at was closer to calligraphy than any handwriting I'd seen in my 22 years. All flowing and pretty and perfectly clear...

It must have been a girl at the helm. A very cute one.

Nothing more masculine than that could write like this. We guys are wired too differently, we rarely pay this much attention to aesthetic detail when we could just quickly scrawl shit out to our friends. Or acquaintances.

"Well, it says they're going look for breakfast and maybe a bath. Might check out the job board too."

A bath...

I don't know why she thought "Kaia" would be able to read that, but we all have lapses in memory.
okay
Looked at the dialogue you actually left me and figured I needed to change anyway
