Bio

So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.

The accused has the right to face those who accused them. The problem is that some of the heroes would not want to be cross examined by the defense. They would have to be present in their civilian identities and the defense could easily out them for being metahumans. And even if onky Kelly testifies because her metahuman status is public knowledge (because of a youtube video from earlier in this game), the defense could still ask her. And if they plead the 5th, then I think the jury has to ignore their entire testimony. I could be wrong on that last part, so don't take my word for it.

You don't ignore when someone pleads the 5th. Obviously its borderline prejudicial to the jury in terms of how they view it... but it shouldn't be technically. The 5th is just there so people can testify without incriminating themselves. From a logical perspective it doesn't taint testimony... from an emotional sense it absolutely does. And it's a legal trick for lawyers (on either side of the bench if it suits their case) to prod witnesses into taking the 5th (if possible repeatedly to belabour the point) in order to knock 'em out the box.

...I like my legal fiction (traces of which will likely come up in future seasons).
I was thinking about the legal fallout of the Pax event and I was wondering what charges could be brought on Doctor Diplodoc. Disturbing the peace would be one obvious charge since it is broad. However, it only has a max of a couple years. Kidnapping charges could be brought from previous story arcs (Zac, Kelly, Aubrey, and Veronica), but the victims might have to come out about developing powers. What others charges could be filed?

Darn you Law & Order binge watching

Littering. Leaving those damned devices in cities from coast to coast...
One of these days I'll post twice a month.

What are you doing?!? Are you trying to show me up!?!
BACK!

Apologies for cutting out with nary a word to most of you (I told 'Shape... but even then that was fairly late in the piece).

Gonna get caught back up and explode now that my time (aside from work) is my own again.

*looks awkwardly at the Team 2 collaborative post PM* Well, at least we did not get too far into that post...

Also, I don't quite understand how Vigilante comes to his conclusion about who's the real Arachne and who's the impostor.

Oh shit!

Just realized what I've done... and reading through that now.

My bad on that one. We'll straighten this out when I knock off work.

I'll churn through the Googledoc too.
Not real proud of that one, a bit rushed, but the next one will be better.
Arachne | Icon | Pendragon | Raptor | Vigilante | Wasp

“Beyond your ridiculous ‘counter-weights’, this form is pretty much identical to Black Widow’s” Effigy spoke, even though it sounded like Arachne’s voice was saying those words, “Far easier to train with than that stupid mercenary’s form.”

“Icon,” Kelly whispered to the blue marvel while Effigy boasted about his training with Black Widow’s form would translate into Arachne’s, “Although you’re our biggest piece here, it might be wise to keep your distance from him.”

The black garbed vigilante seconded the young wasp's sentiments somewhat more abruptly. "Sky. Now." as he stepped forward, a dark glower on his face. He didn't turn to see where the blue and silver hero went - he didn't want to draw more attention to him - but he assumed he'd keep himself hidden, as he looked to put himself at the fore of his young team.

Kelly then paused for a moment when she realized that she might not have used the proper pronoun for Effigy. “Wait, what pronoun are we supposed to be using? ‘She’?”

“How about ‘it’?” Raptor interjected. However, this momentarily distracted ‘their’ Arachne, turning back towards the others as if they had also called her an ‘it’. “Don’t worry. It’s blatantly obvious that you’re a ‘she’.” Although he could not see Arachne’s expression under her mask, Raptor knew that she was giving him a death glare at the moment.

While she was distracted, Effigy took this opportunity to lunge forward at Arachne, tackling her to the ground. After a short scuffle on the floor, one of the Arachnes pushed the other off of herself.

“Um, guys.” Raptor scratched his head, “Did anyone keep track of which Arachne was ours?”

“I’m the real one!” Both of the Arachnes claimed in unison, “She’s the imposter!”

Isaac racked his brain. He'd wanted this one. He had a plan in his mind before it all changed, and maybe even he could find a way to use it. But not like this. Not in a crowd. And while this was a foreseeable possibility, that this Effigy would take the form of one of his teammates he'd need to run his mind back. Think of everything he knew about this spider-girl he barely knew and find a way to distinguish Arachne from imposter.

Any way. What do you know about her? What can you do?

He strode forward, his head cocked to one side looking for something. Anything. And then...

A dark smile penetrated through the black mask as his leer focused on the spidergirl on the left, he kept walking forward.

"You!" he growled. He raised his grapple gun and fired a concussive bolt into the left spidergirl's legs.

"Ow! Wait! No!" The accused spidergirl stepped back in retreat, trying to cover up from more of the Vigilante's blunt bolts. Isaac relentlessly kept firing at her lower quarters (or eighths...) advancing all the while. He walked past the other spidergirl dropping some kind of object as he passed.

It all happened fast.

BANG!

A flashbang grenade went off at the second unsuspecting spidergirl's feet. The Vigilante turned on a dime and threw a heavy right hand...

But despite being blinded by the grenade she jumped back and out of the way of it, as if she knew the punch was coming from another sense.

Isaac cursed himself quietly, as he obviously must have telegraphed his play somehow...

But he'd flushed out the imposter. That was half of the job.

"Get the real Arachne clear!" he barked at Raptor, pointing at the spidergirl confusedly rubbing her legs. "That won't work twice."
The last week and a bit has been more than difficult work-wise.

Nearly caught up now though.
We're all pretty easygoing here, except for me, I'm a prick. ;)
But seriously, don't let the size of the game intimidate you, we have a summary of most of the major events right in the OP, and as others have said, we have some great jumping on points coming up soon.

I'm a bigger prick. And with an accent.
This week has been less than good for my sanity...

IRL. Not RPG related.
