Desktop profile login won't work. Coincidence that Windows 7 is no longer supported on same day? Consider me doubtful.

I'm having way too much fun with my Legend of Zelda Encylopedia. This is the game that got me into roleplaying so have a lot invested in it's lore and stories. Too bad can't have all the games too.

All that work to get in the way and then some barrier comes up and steals the glory. How typical.
Julianna managed to push her way through the crowd and find her way to the door the assassin was no doubt attempting to flee out of. Julianna could not help but think of other ways the assassin could escape, such as the windows but there was no way she could effectively block such things. It appeared that Sir Tiral already had that covered though as the beautiful glasswork was frosted over, which quickly thickened into ice sheets, so at least they wouldn't have to worry about that anymore.

It appeared that she had gotten there just in time, the knights that were charging after the assassin had forced her to deal with them, slowing her progress toward the exit. Julianna hadn't got a good look at the assassin before but, man that was one small assassin! Stopping such a tiny combatant would be a lot easier if she had a shield to bash her head in but a shield would have been too cumbersome and out of place in a dress. Now, she only had a small dagger with which to defend herself and stop the chibi killer, well she also had her body if it came down to that though that was risky against someone who was a hitman.

She could see her father and brothers headed her way as well but it looked like they wouldn't arrive until the assassin was on top of her. The knights were chasing the assassin but she was the only one between the assassin and escape right now. Gripping the dagger tightly, Julianna make sure to lower her body so she could easily react to the assassin.

"Goddess Mayon, guide my hand and my body in the defense of your people. Give me the courage and strength to defend those I have been charged to protect and deliver retribution to my enemies. Make me your vessel to accomplish your will." Julianna recited the prayer to herself as she prepared to stop the assassin. Her amber eyes locked onto her enemy with extreme focus as she chanted, her eyes appeared to glow in the light as she appealed to the goddess for strength.

Julianna prepared to block the assassin with everything she had, as long as she could prevent the killer from getting around her it would be the Iron Rose Knights victory. She made she she was ready to move into the assassin's path however she attempted to escape.
So we have a knight trying to bisect the assassin, a half-dwarf tackle, and tendon swiping. Of course no one is going to get in the way of the other or anything. *Puts on sunglasses and takes out a lemonade*
Julianna was a bit sad that the whole charade had dampened the Princess's mood. She was the first to admit that perhaps she had gone too far in stirring the pot. She was young, just two years older than the princess and Fanilly after all so she still had some of her brash nature. Not the best outcome but it had to be done, though she was unsure if her father totally approved.

All the machinations and planning were brought to an abrupt halt however when the assassin lurked her pale head. A bolt was shot but thanks to the quick reflexes of the young captain the princess was spared and amazingly no one in the crowd was impaled. Talk about being in the right place at the right time, but there was no time for such thought, she needed to search for the assassin. First though, she needed to lighten her load.

As a member of the Iron Rose Knights one had to be ready to defend her majesty at any time but a gown was not exactly combat gear, at least it shouldn't have been however the dress was specially made. Unlike a lot of other dresses there was little to no hampering of her natural movement and adjustments were made so the hem could be hiked up at a moment's notice to avoid any potential tripping. Doing just that Julianna burst into action as of course, the crowd started to panic and flee.

Not everyone was in a panic of course. Theodore watched while clenching his cane tightly. "An assassin in the royal court itself!? What were the guards doing? My love, please make your way to safety, I'll join in the hunt for this cur." With a quick peck on her forehead he nudged her along to join the fleeing nobles.

"Now then," Theodore cracked his shoulders, took the the top of his cane, gave it a twist and out from the wood was a thin, concealed sword. "Time to finally get a decent work out." Theodore gave a hand motion in the air which instantly summoned his two sons, of 20 and 22. Like their father they were well built though slimming in general than their hulking old man. They quickly stepped in behind Theodore as he started to march after the assassin.

Julianna had a bit of a hard time seeing the assassin because of the milling guests but soon she saw the tell tale signs of a sword seeking a target. The immortal was after the assassin at full steam, which meant that was certainly not the way to go in order to catch the assassin. Julianna made her way toward the assassin's most likely exit, hopefully the knights pursuit would make the assassin have to take something other than a straight route to avoid being caught and then she would be there to take her down, if the guests didn't impede her too much anyway.

Taking a concealed dagger from under her dress, a small and quick weapon that unfortunately made her feel a bit naked, she plowed through, trying to force her way ahead of the assassin, if she managed to get out the search would get a lot more complicated.
Forgive me for getting everyone off course XD.

That being said I like all the confrontational stuff going on right now IC since its really setting up many key issues for all of the characters. Julianna as a character was perfect for showing how fractured the Iron Rose Knights are in this generation, which if I'm not mistaken was one of the key plot points Vita set up in the OP. Anyway, was gone for a little bit and I see things have escalated a bit, excited for when the event happens which should at least temporarily make people forget about all the bad blood.
And then the Civilized Barbarian walked in to be the voice of reason...@Themerlinhawk XD

You know now that I think about it, there are quite a few stories where there is an outsider who has a much more balanced view on goings ons. Just a thought that popped into my head.
Well there was certainly some implied baiting involved since Jeremiah pretty much instantly recognized Fanilly as the Captain. So I still think Julianna's point stands somewhat as being an ambush, even if it might have been unintentional that Fanilly was one of the few separated from the army. Well the joys of ambiguity make everything more complicated and while Jeremiah may have been caught by surprise he still had the presence of mind to order a very well thought out strategy to catch some knights off guard. Certainly one of those things which can be seen from a few different points of view, which after all is the main point I suppose.
So how in the world was that not an ambush? A giant freaking tree crashed and burned in order to separate Fanilly from the rest of her troop, sure it wasn't an ambush designed to take out the Iron Rose Knights, just one to cut of its newest head. She was baited away from her troops, to try and take out the enemy crossbowmen and then was cornered by the Bandit King. Maybe trap would have been a better word but for all intents and purposes an ambush though designed with a much smaller target in mind.
I thought Julianna was going to... wait longer before openly challenging the captain like that. @_@

You know I actually really thought about waiting but...who doesn't appreciate some awesome melodrama? XD That and Tyaethe was being pretty obnoxious, making a sound like a glove hitting the floor to the start of a duel.
The pure amount of ludicrousness that rolled off Tyaethe's tongue was absolutely astounding. She thrashed at Julianna with logic the consistency of swiss cheese and was no doubt quite angry, a very good outcome to say the least. Julianna suppressed a smile and countered. "My my quite heated aren't we. Who ever said anything about leaving people to die? If I am not mistaken it was my own efforts that ultimately saved that farmer's life. In any event while certainly a valiant effort, and certainly any knight in our order would gladly give up their life to protect the innocent; however, if we charge blindly every time there could easily be a less fortunate outcome, what then would become of the knights who gladly give their lives in the defense of the kingdom and her majesty?"

Julianna took a few steps back away as if in a attempt to distance the conversation. "Forgive this display your highness, it is most disagreeable. All I meant to say was there is much room for improvement, though I must say a second ambush, or perhaps I should say entrapment, did most certainly happen. Flaming tree trunks do not fall down by themselves in an attempt to isolate the commander from the rest of her forces. It seems age has perhaps caught up to you, but enough. This is a time of celebration is it not? Let us hark on semantics no longer and enjoy the rest of the night."

Theodore nodded from the side line in approval. Julianna was trying to 'make peace' for the rest of the night which was something most nobles would certainly be behind. The die had been cast so there was no need for further argument, such things could wait until after but at least not everyone knew both sides of the story. Theodore was a little discontent though, he had to admit that Julianna did indeed go a little too far and probably should have retreated sooner. Well that just meant a little more work for his men behind the scenes.

Still, the fact that that little undead would dare put into question his daughter's sense of responsibility to the people had his blood boiling. Thankfully his wife was there to keep him calm so he managed to keep his emotions in check and not assault the little twerp there and then. The undead was making enough of a spectacle of herself as it was, there was no need to stoop to her level.
