"I've got the same amount of badges as Liam," stated Shiranui, "We also plan to take on the Kalos League after the Silver Conference."

Shiranui sent Hikari out and his opponent sent out a Pelipper. "Pelipper, the Water Bird Pokémon. Pelipper is a flying transporter that carries small Pokémon and eggs inside its massive bill. This Pokémon builds its nest on steep cliffs facing the sea." Pelipper never got a chance to attack as one Thunderbolt from Hikari was all it took to knock it out. The win caused Hikari to evolve to a Lanturn. Shiranui's opponent then sent out a Wash Rotom. "Rotom, the Plasma Pokémon. Its body is composed of plasma. It is known to infiltrate electronic devices and wreak havoc." Rotom tried to zap Hikari with a Shock Wave, but the Lanturn's Volt Absorb ability made the attack ineffective. A Soak, Signal Beam and Thunderbolt took the possessor out.

"Don't get too overconfident," Shiranui rebutted, "I'm no slouch at battling myself."

"I think it's the sea guardian," Shiranui stated.

"Well whatever he has, Water-type Pokémon can be full of surprises," warned Shiranui before changing the subject, "By the way I felt a powerful presence soon after we registered."

"Do you know what Water-type Pokémon he has," Shiranui inquired.
