"Are we taking the ferry back to Olivine?" Shiranui inquired.

Shiranui nodded and made his way back to the Pokémon Centre to heal his Pokémon.

"Beating her is no walk in the park," warned Shiranui, "Not only is she a Steel-type gym leader, she's also one of the toughest gym leaders in the region."

After Chuck healed his Pokémon, it was now time for Shiranui to take him on. He started with Poliwrath and Shiranui sent Kyouchou out. "Poliwrath, the Tadpole Pokémon. Poliwrath's highly developed, brawny muscles never grow fatigued, however much it exercises. It is so tirelessly strong, this Pokémon can swim back and forth across the ocean without effort." "Poliwrath, Submission!" "Kyouchou, Fly!" The Murkrow flew high enough to avoid Poliwrath's attack. "Poliwrath, try again!" Kyouchou dive bombed Poliwrath and scored a critical hit, knocking it out. Chuck sent Machoke out. "Machoke, the Superpower Pokémon. Its muscular body is so powerful, it must wear a power-save belt to be able to regulate its motions." "Machoke, Dynamic Punch!" "Kyouchou, Fly!" Despite Machoke's No Guard ability, Kyouchou was able to avoid the powerful attack by flying up high. "Machoke, Dynamic Punch!" Kyouchou dive bombed Machoke and was socked afterwards, leaving him confused. "Machoke, Karate Chop!" "Kyouchou, return; Kanki, I choose you!" Shiranui switched out Kyouchou and sent Kanki out. "Machoke, Seismic Toss!" "Kanki, Dazzling Gleam!" Machoke grabbed Kanki and slammed the Togepi on the ground. Kanki let off a flash of bright light, damaging Machoke with its brilliance. The glow persisted as Kanki got a little bigger and grew wings. The glow subsided to reveal a Togetic. "Togetic, the Happiness Pokémon and the evolved form of Togepi. They say that it will appear before kindhearted, caring people and shower them with happiness." "Machoke, Dynamic Punch!" "Kanki, Dazzling Gleam!" Machoke gave Kanki a powerful punch that was doubly resisted by Kanki, but left the Togetic confused. Kanki did focus enough to let off another bright flash that left Machoke knocked out. Shiranui had won the Storm Badge.

"Liam, you can go first this time," Shiranui offered.
