Virgil opened with Umbreon and Shiranui started with Sundan. A critical X-Scissor swiftly defeated Umbreon. A Flamethrower from Flareon knocked Sundan out. Hikari defeated Flareon with a Hydro Pump and against Leafeon, the Lanturn fired a Signal Beam, leaving Leafeon exhausted and confused. Leafeon went down from hurting itself in confusion. Hikari could not survive Espeon's mental onslaught and was defeated, though Espeon looked worse for wear as well. Kaki—in her Mega Charizard X form—defeated Espeon with a Flare Blitz. Jolteon did not stand a chance as none of its attacks did more than a glancing blow. A blue-hot Fire Blast left Jolteon scorched and knocked out.

"Just like battling the Kimono Sisters back home," Shiranui remarked.
"Same to you, Liam," replied Shiranui.
"In that case, see you soon, Professor," Shiranui finished, feeling excited for the semi-finals.
Name: Shiranui Tsukiko
Age: 12
Hometown: Ecruteak City
Appearance (pic preferred):

Starter: Fennekin
Bio: Shiranui had developed a fascination with fox-like Pokémon from watching the Kimono Sisters performing during his childhood. His favourite Pokémon are Espeon, Umbreon, Delphox, Zoroark and Ninetales. He is generally kind, but has a low tolerance to those who speak ill of his likes. He had been inspired to go on a Pokémon journey ever since he spotted Ho-oh taking off from the Bell Tower at age 8, later catching it during his journey through Johto along with two of the three Legendary Beasts.

Having never left the regions of the Far East, Shiranui is excited for seeing the culture of a faraway land whilst also steeling himself for the culture shock he may inevitably feel. As part of his ninja training, his father had told him to expect the unexpected.
"If you have a spare Fennekin, I'd like one please," Shiranui requested.
"Hey Liam, which one are you picking?" Shiranui asked.
"Well, you came at a good time," replied Shiranui, "Both Liam and I made the semi-finals."
"Prof. Oak, what a pleasant surprise," replied Shiranui, "What brings you here?"
Shiranui gave Liam a thumbs up before focusing on the battle. "I'll be the one to get the gold here!" Benny boasted, "Xatu, you're up!"
"What you're getting here, Benny-dono, is a slice of humble pie," Shiranui rebutted, "Hikari, I choose you!"
"Xatu, the Mystic Pokémon. Xatu is known to stand motionless while staring at the sun all day long. Some people revere it as a mystical Pokémon out of their belief that Xatu is in possession of the power to see into the future." Xatu and Shiranui's Lanturn were staring each other down until the official called for the battle to start.
"Xatu, Ominous Wind!"
"Hikari, Discharge!" Xatu flapped its wings to create a shadowy wind that buffeted Hikari for some damage. The Lanturn discharged some electricity that zapped Xatu into a one-hit knockout.

"Xatu, return! That was a lucky shot, noob. My Raichu will zap any Pokémon you throw at it into unconsciousness!" Benny taunted, sending his Raichu out. "Well, go ahead, hotshot; zap her," Shiranui taunted back.
"Raichu, Thunderbolt!"
"Hikari, stand your ground and use Rain Dance!" Raichu let loose with an electrical attack powerful enough to zap a Dragonite into unconsciousness, but Hikari came out of the attack fully recovered thanks to the Lanturn's Volt Absorb ability. Hikari did a dance that caused a heavy rain to fall.
"What was that you said about your Raichu?" Shiranui continued to taunt, receiving a glower from Benny as a rebuttal. He was unmoved as he proceeded to call the next move.
"Hikari, Hydro Pump!"
"Raichu, Slam!" Raichu charged in and struck Hikari with its tail, causing major damage. Hikari sent a powerful jet of water at Raichu that blasted it for a critical hit. Raichu ended up saturated and knocked out.

"Raichu, return; Gyarados, you're up!" Benny switched his Raichu for a Gyarados. "Gyarados, Hyper Beam!"
"Hikari, Thunder!" Gyarados fired a powerful beam of energy that dealt a heavy blow to Hikari. Hikari's orb started glowing before Gyarados was struck by lightning, knocking it out in one hit.

Benny was losing his cool as he switched Gyarados for Scizor. "Scizor, X-Scissor!"
"Hikari, Hydro Pump!" Scizor charged at Hikari and in almost no time flat, struck a blow that knocked the Lanturn out.
"How do you like them apples?" taunted Benny.
"Newsflash, hotshot, Scizor is your last Pokémon and you still need to defeat three more of mine!" rebutted Shiranui, recalling Hikari.

"Kaki, I choose you!" Shiranui's Charizard came out and was not fazed by the rain.
"Scizor, Night Slash!"
"Kaki, Sunny Day!" Scizor flitted in and gave Kaki a nasty slash. Kaki roared and the weather changed to a bright sunny day.
"Night Slash again!"
"Kaki, Fire Blast!" After Scizor gave Kaki another slash, the Charizard breathed out an intense flame that formed a 大 shape, engulfing Scizor and leaving the metallic bug charred and knocked out. Shiranui had won the battle and was riding an adrenalin high from the psychological warfare that played a part in the battle.
The quarter-finals have started and the first match was Shiranui vs Benny. Shiranui was itching to teach his hot-headed opponent the perils of underestimating an opponent.
