"Our next coordinator is someone who has risen to the top in the Hoenn Grand Festival! Give it up for our local league champion, 'Sea Hero' Shiranui Tsukiko!" Shiranui appeared with a puff of smoke.
"Senritsu, it's music time!" A myriad of musical notes of varying durations issued from the open ball and played a rising glissando as they coalesced into Shiranui's Altaria. "Start with a Captivate/Sing combo!" Senritsu turned up her charms while singing a lullaby. The green notes from the attack were floating in a ring. "Double Team into Round!" Multiple Altaria appeared and all of them sung a Round, starting in sequence. Some red notes joined the Sing notes, interlacing themselves in sequence. "Perish Song!" The flock of Altaria sung a haunting melody, releasing some blue notes to join in with the others. "Mega Hyper Voice!" Shiranui activated his Mega Ring and all the Altaria started glowing. The copies flew towards the original and merged with the mega-evolving Senritsu. The glow dissipated to reveal a Mega Altaria that soon started letting out a long and loud chirp. The notes spun faster and their colours changed to a bright white before exploding with a loud harmonious chord into lots of iridescent sparkles.

"Judges, what do you think?"
"That appeal was music to my ears!"
"Altaria is remarkable!"
"Your Altaria is exceptionally well trained and the Mega Evolution shows how strong the bond between you and your Pokémon really is."

Shiranui finished preparing his Ball Capsule by attaching it to one of his Poké Balls. His game plan was set.

Shiranui registered as well. While in the green room, he was thinking about what kind of appeal he would do, dressed in his ninja outfit.

"Overconfidence can make you blind to the element of surprise," Shiranui rebutted, "That happened to me back at the Lavender Town Contest."

Shiranui checked his map and saw Cedar Town located off Route 15 en route to the Battle Pike.

Shiranui rejoined Liam after Zoro finished healing.

"I'll leave you to think about that while I go back to the Pokémon Centre to heal Zoro and rejoin Liam," replied Shiranui before leaving Sashia to her thoughts and made his way back to the Pokémon Centre. He was thinking about how he would go about training his Zoroark to be better prepared for Fairy-type Pokémon now that he knew what it took for Zoro to achieve his goal.

"I'm certain Ice Fox has told him that at least once," replied Shiranui, "A Zoroark's bond is very strong as some studies of their species have shown. She will be in good hands with Zoro as her mate."

"I survived your Z-Move so count on it!" Zoro finished as Shiranui returned him to his Great Ball. He had a vague idea about Zoro's motivations, but wanted to wait until his Zoroark was in better shape.

"Sounds fine with me," Shiranui agreed, knowing that Zoro would not have lasted much longer. Zoro blushed from the lick.
"I'll do everything in my power to protect you, mon amour," Zoro replied with determination.
