Shiranui's semi-final battle was quick as Higitsune finished Weavile off with a Fire Blast and a Dazzling Gleam.
Shiranui had defeated the opponent's Grumpig with his Delphox.
Shiranui's turn rolled around and he sent Kumo out. The Ariados used String Shot and Spider Web to spin a giant web and similar to a popular children's book, spun the word 'REMARKABLE' across the web.

"A very creative use of an Ariados' talents."
"Ariados really is remarkable!"
"Your Ariados is very well-trained."

"Nice one Shiranui!" Chuck said, cheering on his friend.

"Thanks," replied Shiranui. He registered for the contest as well, knowing that both he and Liam were one ribbon away from qualifying for the Grand Festival.
Shiranui took his position at the battlefield and the battle was on. Anabel started with Alakazam and Shiranui sent out his Aegislash, Yoto. Anabel assumed Yoto was purely a Steel type and had Alakazam use Focus Blast. Yoto blocked the attack with his shield and Shiranui called for a Night Slash. Yoto shifted to his Blade Forme thanks to his Stance Change ability and shot out towards Alakazam. Yoto delivered a critical slash and knocked Alakazam out through exploiting a large disparity in stats.
Anabel sent out her Espeon next and Shiranui stuck with Yoto. Anabel realised that Yoto was also a Ghost type and had Espeon use Shadow Ball. Shiranui called a King's Shield and Yoto blocked the Shadow Ball after shifting back into his Shield Forme. Espeon fired another Shadow Ball and that one struck home. Shiranui called for Toxic and Yoto blasted out a jet of toxins from the tip of his blade, inundating Espeon and leaving it badly poisoned. Espeon's Synchronize triggered, but Yoto was immune from being poisoned. Espeon conjured a Light Screen and Shiranui had Yoto use Shadow Claw. Yoto changed to his Blade Forme again and six branches appeared on his blade as the Aegislash thrust at Espeon and knocked it out.
Anabel switched out her Espeon and sent in her Metagross. Shiranui kept Yoto out and Metagross stomped the field, sending out an Earthquake. Yoto used King's Shield to block the tremors, changing back to his Shield Forme. Metagross struck Yoto with a Pursuit and Yoto retaliated with a Shadow Ball, changing to his Blade Forme. The Shadow Ball did a lot of damage despite an active Light Screen, which disappeared at this point. Metagross seized the opportunity to send out another Earthquake and Yoto was shaken into a knockout.
Shiranui switched out his Aegislash and sent out his Zoroark (named Zoro) who was disguised as a Sableye. One of Metagross' clawed arms glowed with cosmic energy, showing it was readying a Meteor Mash. Zoro jumped over the punch and sent out a Night Daze that inundated the Metagross for a lot of damage. Metagross blindsided Zoro with a Bullet Punch and the game was up as Zoro lost his Illusion. Zoro retaliated with another Night Daze and the damage was enough to knock Metagross out. Shiranui had won the Ability Symbol.
"Now that you two have won six Symbols, I will now reveal to you the location of the Battle Pyramid," stated Anabel as she pulled out a smartphone and sent out a Pokénav app update. Shiranui's smartphone pinged a notification and he opened his Pokénav app to find a flashing blip near Pewter City.
"From what I dug up about her, Salon Maiden Anabel makes her battle calls mentally," Shiranui added, "I plan to listen in on that."
"My thoughts exactly," added Shiranui.
Shiranui followed in a hurry, thinking about strategies for the Battle Tower.
"We better high-tail it to the port then," replied Shiranui.
"Yours isn't the first Mega Blastoise I've faced in battle," stated Shiranui.
