Bio

Greetings,

I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.

As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)

So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.

@Prince of Seraphs Oh no, no, no - the complete opposite, have no fear.

I decided to just go with both!

The Klingon one, which can be found here is more-or-less for fun. There will be more to it, but Klingon antics are the name of the game.

Option 2 AKA The Federation one will be coming soon, this one will require somewhat more planning and the like, so feel free - if you are interested - to stick about until I post the link for it. :)
Star Trek: Qapla'!

Now accepting applications

Summary:

- Sci-fi adventure (mostly military focused, although there will be more to it than just that) that takes place in the Star Trek universes prime timeline.
- Characters are generally fresh/green warriors from various Klingon houses that have recently been assigned to a bird-of-prey and ordered they do not know where...yet.
- The timeline is set three years after the Hobus supernova and the destruction of Romulus (2390 CE)
- All players must take the role of a Klingon, no exceptions! This is an honourable roleplay, not some Federation rubbish.
- We will play somewhat inexperienced warriors, not entirely untested but certainly never having fought a full-scale war before. Every Klingon trains from an early age, but none of us can carve through a horde of ravenous romuluSngan fools by ourselves..
- I have high standards, despite the recent dilution of the quality in Advanced. Character sheets will be accepted based on merit alone, not 'first come first serve'.

In Character Info:

The destruction of their home planet had sent the Star Empire of the perfidious Romulans into disarray, their Senate and thus their leadership annihilated along with their homeworld, leaving the species and their many holdings without direction – it was just such an opportunity that the Klingon Empire had been looking for; now was the time for reparation, a compensation to be paid in Romulan lands or Romulan blood, one that the Empire would squeeze from them by one-sided treaties or with the sharpened edge of a bat'leth!

This is where you come in.

Every Klingon, man and woman both, are required in preparation for what may well be the next big war in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants; the Federation, with diplomacy and exploration as their primary concerns, will no doubt seek to block any such venture, while others are inevitably looking upon the confusion with as much glee as ourselves.

Hah! The IKS Chu'Iw, in spite of its name (which means New Blood), is a hardy and time-wearied old warrior that has seen its fair share of campaigns over the years. Well, what does on expect from an until recently front line K'Vort-class Bird-of-Prey?

Blood is needed, honourable warriors from both major and minor houses, required to re-crew this vessel in the name of the Klingon Empire – are you such a warrior?

Let us hope so, for once you step aboard the ship there is no turning back.

Out of character info:

Although I do intend to get a more varied roleplay going in the usual ST mould (which will be up shortly), I decided to at least see if there would be an interest in a Klingon RP first; I intend for it to be fun, humorous, violent and generally full of everything that makes the Klingons so 'unique' in the Star Trek mythos to begin with.

Our characters are new to one another and have never met before, the majority being recently blooded or non-blooded warriors from all strata of Klingon society, and boarding the ship together will be the first time they have even met. Nevertheless they are all bound by the same blood and the same culture, although there may be some who do not necessarily share the ideals and wider culture of the Empire (a hybrid, for example).

At first, we're simply going to take off toward Romulan space and see what happens. I have a few ideas for greater, overarching story lines if this roleplay goes anywhere long-term, but those aren't relevant just yet. Focus on having your characters get to know each other, developing respect or rivalries, while fighting side-by-side and back-to-back.

If you find your own knowledge of the Star Trek universe a little lacking, I'd suggest that you use Memory Alpha (the most accurate ST wiki thus far) as a resource. A simple Google search can also yield information.

Rules

- Sort your squabbles out in private. If you persistently disagree with another player or they're grieving you, involve me. If necessary, I will smite you myself.
- No godmodding (controlling someone else's character). Obviously.
- Real life creeps up on everybody and sometimes you just don't feel like, or don't have the time to churn out a lengthy, quality post. That is fine, but try to post something just to keep things moving at least once every fortnight.
- One character per player.
- My decisions are final.
- If you've read all these rules and agree to them, include the word 'qapla'' somewhere in your character sheet.

Character Sheet

Submit your characters in a hider in the OOC tab. Accepted characters can be posted in the Characters tab later.

Name: Your character's name. Keep it appropriate and Klingon-like. Include any optional nicknames.

Age: Klingons are known to live longer and mature faster than humans, anywhere between 8 years old to 150. As it is, I'd prefer a younger Klingon (not necessarily what we'd consider a child).

Gender: Male or female.

House: To which house does your character belong?

Rank and Speciality: What is their rank within the Imperial Fleet (this can easily be found), and do they have any specialities beside being a warrior? A chef? An engineer etc?

Appearance: A written description of your character's appearance is mandatory.

Personality: What kind of person is your character and how do they interact with others?

History: Describe your character's life. I don't need the exact details of their childhood, or an extensive account of all their previous adventures, but be comprehensive. Give me three solid paragraphs, at least.

Skills: Here you explain to me what your character is good at.

Equipment: What do they bring with them on this voyage? Include any weapons, personal affects, and so on.

Miscellaneous: Anything you want to mention but haven't been able to cover yet.

Questions?

Ask them, please.
@RumikoOhara Well I guess you're hired then (if that's alright), as you seem to be of the same mind when it comes to how to progress etc.

As long as posts remain coherent then there shouldn't be a problem at all.
Big Star Trek Fan I even once tried to start my own RP here on the Guild

Oh snap! If I'd seen that I'd have joined, love the premise of Robbie Crusoe in space; if you've any idea(s) that may come in handy, assuming you're interested, then please feel free to share them. In which case I'll guess it'll be option 2, which is fine.

On another note, and assuming this gets enough interest (including your own) for a medium-sized bridge crew at least, how would you feel about co-GMing?
Not gonna lie, sorta tempted by the Klingon idea just so I can practice my Klingon and call the captain "your mother has a smooth forehead".... and then get thrown out of an airlock.

You just don't have that much fun on a Federation starship - where's the violent humour and mating ritual? Where's the constant headbutting and use of melee weapons in a far future with particle weapons? Where's the Klingon Shakespeare and delicious, squirming, Gagh!

In all seriousness though, it's a toss-up between diversity and a potential case of 'too many cooks' if done wrong (that being in terms of the species/races and such of the Federation), or a limited RP for folks with little imagination, knowledge or a general dislike (or just not a great like) for Klingons.

I understand why most folks would go for the former.
Colour me interested in option 2. Are we going to be allowed to make our own episodes, or are you going to be the one making them?

I'd be laying the groundwork, but, within reason, it'd be a wee bit more sandboxy than point A-to-B. It'd be more like A-to-B through D.

I'm tentatively interested in option 2 as long as we're not drawing any inspiration from the Reboot franchise and our Klingons still look like Klingons rather than looking like Babylon 5's Drazi.

No and yes.

Out of curiosity OP, so if we do roll with option 2 (or 1 for that matter I suppose) we'll be playing as the bridge crew and will need to fill out the positions? What happens if we have too much / too little players for all the roles and if people have conflicts about roles that would like to rp?

If there are too few, that's where the power of NPCs comes in, and if people have a conflict about roles then they'd best sort it out; PM or in thread is fine.

Should have expected that no-one would go for the Klingons (I'm a Romulan fanperson myself, so the JJVerse was not a good place for me, while Enterprise would have (should have) been great), which somewhat saddens me - I think a well written military Klingon RP could actually be quite fun, but I realise the diversity and general variety of options still remains with the Federation and their exploratory vessels. Humans gonna human after all.
I'm rather interested in number 2 option. I'm one of those people who actually like the "New Trek" films.

It'd be in the Prime Timeline, and have nothing to do with the JJVerse, but that's good to know. I don't mind them much myself, for what they are.
Boomp.

Hail and well met,

I've been wanting to either run or get involved in a Star Trek Role-play for some time now, but currently I fail to see any on the Guild that would take my interest (that aren't already months old), and so I've been pondering two options that will hopefully interest others as well.

I'll say now that both RPs would be taking place after the supernova disaster and the destruction of Romulus (2387); a time of strained alliances in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, ripe opportunities for those strong enough to take it, and a once proud people bought low by the death throes of a star.

The first (or 1) is Star Trek: Qapla'!, a Klingon-centric RP taking place aboard a Klingon bird-of-prey that has seen more than its fair share of war and battle. The crew (a dozen to thirty-six souls) on the other hand are generally fresh-faced and eager to gain honour for their lesser houses. There will be plenty of close-quarter combat, honour, and of course drinking! Although Klingons may not be to everyone's taste, I do think this could be quite a fun RP with the right people.

[The link for this particular RP is here if you wish to join it.]

The second (or 2) would be Star Trek: The Next Chapter, more of a 'standard fare' with a Starfleet vessel (to be designed and decided – it won't be the Enterprise) and writers taking control of the ubiquitous 'bridge crew'. The RP will run, much like the TV series, in a sort of episodic order – different things happening and being resolved, missions all over the place, what you'd expect from Trek really.

This will be a High Casual/Advanced RP, so a firm grasp of English is required, but actual knowledge of Star Trek – in depth knowledge – is something that, while I'd prefer it, I'm not going to impose on people.

If either (or both) of these tickle your fancy for sci-fi and boldly going place no-one has gone before, then please say so.

Thank you for reading.
