Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

With no further questions, Julian nodded to the Pulse soldiers. Now was a time for trust, as difficult as it was. “We should meet up again once inside. If you run into any trouble... well, we’ll probably hear you, so hold them off until we can help you.”

With that, he turned back to his Cocoon allies. “Now Kirta, I need you to hold off... Kirta?” As he looked around, Julian couldn’t find their former ally. He sighed and shook his head. “I figured he wouldn’t stick around. I was hoping to be proven wrong. My contact suggested otherwise... Let’s just hope he doesn’t rat us out. I have a feeling we’ll run into him again.”

Another sigh escaped his lips and he turned to Madeleine. “It’s just you and me now. You have my word that I will do my utmost to keep you safe. I know from your record that you feel similarly. Let’s keep an eye out for each other, okay?” Julian moved forward, leading his ally through the shadows.

The building was long, wide, and a single story. Towards the front was a large door that looked like it would open up like some sort of hangar bay, but the door was closed fast and lights illuminated both the door and the ground in front of it. On either side were small doorways. If any attempt to open them, they would find them unlocked, and Pulse’s side door was slightly ajar.

((OOC: I suggest the two parties create collaboration posts instead of several individual posts. I can step in to provide instructions as necessary))
Incidentally, how do you guys feel about a Skype group?

I would like one, personally. That, or Discord.

I would also like to reserve Hanged Man for Kimiko Maita. I will write up a CS shortly (possibly in a day or two, hopefully sooner).
@chukklehedVery true, although that might partially be due to the amount of resources that requires. Also, unless every ally progressed at the same pace, having that many combatants leads to you only training up a handful anyways. In an RP, you're more able to be flexible with said resources. Unfortunately, our story was directly tied to having exactly 20 PCs at all times. Made a lot of things fairly difficult to work with, but we got a lot of really intriguing characters.

@Crimmy How many more PCs do you expect? I don't want to take up slots that are already intended for someone else. I can toss you a link to that spreadsheet if you want at any time, just send me a PM. Also, do you have a Discord channel or Skype group set up for the RP? Is that something that would interest you?
@CrimmyHaving DM'd a Persona RP previously for several years (based around P4's system), I have some interest here. A few questions before I commit, however:

1) What sort of combat system can we expect? Will it be freeform, or will you structure it closer to a turn-based system like in the games? Either way, will all or many of the iconic mechanics from Persona 5 remain, such as One More, Hold Up, Baton Toss (or whatever it's called), etc?

2) How many PCs do you expect to run? Our game had 20 PCs (one for each Arcana except Judgment and World), and it got fairly convoluted at times. I would suspect you plan to have a smaller group, but is there a cap?

3) As I mentioned, I ran an RP on Persona, and I structured the combat to feel as close to P4's as possible. I have a (rather complicated) spreadsheet that works for P4's mechanics. If you need resources for running combat, let me know. The sheet would require some work to convert it to P5 mechanics (specifically for physical elements, the new status effect names, and new abilities/elements). However, it's definitely a strong start since the core mechanics have not significantly changed that much since P4.

With that said, I have two fully-developed PCs. One is a Chariot Arcana (Persona = Eligor) spear-wielding trenchcoat-wearing lovable oaf named Ryobi Ito who plays basketball and is dealing with a single mom on the edge of poverty. The other is a Hanged Man Arcana (Persona = Yatsufusa) miko named Kimiko Maita who wields a katana and loves singing and has a super-religious overbearing father.

EDIT: I see you already have a Chariot. I can switch Ryobi to Strength fairly easily, as his story also revolves around personal internal Strength. I would just have to modify his Persona, possibly to Oni.
@Mistiel@The Harbinger of Ferocity

What Harb said is what I'm currently planning more or less. Since this is a beginner's game, if we toss everyone together early on, pretty sure it would turn out poorly. We might meet up once both groups are more established later on, and by later, I'm thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of lvl 10. Perhaps sooner if it makes sense. Even then, it would be more of a chance crossing than much else. We might meet up in a dungeon for a few fights, then go our separate ways. Towards late game, we might interact more frequently, however.

To help reach these goals fluidly, I intentionally started us on the other side of the world from Group 1. We will have plenty to do on our half of the globe to keep us busy for quite some time. There should be little reason for our group to meet with Group 1 in the short term, or even to hear about them. But the option remains open, should we gain the means and money to do so (and should we have a reason to do so).
Evidently, Ryobi’s questions were a bit too much for Kitt, but for now, she seemed to be functioning relatively normally for a bot in chaos. “Step back a bit please,” Ryobi requested, placing a boot on the grate. He pushed it forward once Kitt was clear, sending it clattering on the floor. Once he pulled himself out of the vent, Ryobi looked down at the robot and, without so much as a warning, wrapped her in a giant hug. “This place goes to shit, and you're still sunshine and rainbows, Kitt,” Ryobi muttered, holding her in a bear hug. “Never change.”

He let go of the bot and stepped back from her. “Let’s hold off on calling in the cavalry just yet. I'm still piecing together what happened. I know someone had to have helped the prisoners escape. Why? Who knows. Maybe they were threatened. Maybe promised a ton of money or a job away from this floating pinwheel in space. Or maybe someone just snapped.” Ryobi gave a shrug. He was operating on assumptions at this point, and that was rarely good when working with robots. “What about you? Have you noticed anything out of the ordinary about the Captain, or maybe Benton? They've always seemed alright to me, but everything's different now.”

Ryobi glanced around the hallway fervently as he talked. Shelter would be appreciated, but danger could be around every corner. He kept his eyes peeled for anything that looked at all useful while he attempted to speak in a more calming voice than before. He still had little intention of meeting the captain yet, but Kitt had information. Right now, Ryobi would give his arm for some concrete info. And maybe a pistol.
((OOC: City of Bourgund, May 1, Year XXXX))

Our party: Ulor - @Oraculum, Lex - @Turbowraith, Arthera - @The Harbinger of Ferocity, Ceria - @Mistiel, Daisy - @Ermine, Yvah - @Ms Ravenwinter

A few weeks after that fateful day in Fellmire, the group found themselves in the bustling city of Bourgund. It had been a while since they had seen their benefactors, but they had received a letter requesting that they look into a matter in this city. Their contact was General Aengus Cavanaugh, the leader of the militocracy in Bourgund.

Many of you had already been to this city or perhaps had grown up in it. Being the very definition of a hub city, travelers were nearly forced to pass through Bourgund on their way to other destinations. Many had stopped, for one reason or another, setting up homes and shops within its protective walls or near the wide river that passed through the city’s center. There were all sorts of folk living here: wizards and sorcerers traveled the Mage Road from Allain, halflings and elves passed through by way of Echlin from Arbonesse, and there were even a giant or two from Trenorra. Despite this mingling of races, it was obvious that the humans held most of the power as well as most of the population of the city.

The party had arrived late at night and was ushered into an inn by the guard posted outside. The only soul awake at this late hour was a drow barmaid who shyly rented the group a pair of rooms. The beds were comfortable enough, and sleep quickly overtook the weary travelers. Morning came far too soon, however, and the party made their way to breakfast somewhat later than usual. Oddly enough, the tavern was mostly empty. An inquiry to the state of the inn revealed that today was a festival day in the city celebrating Bourgund’s liberation from the Magocracy of Allain. Parades and other attractions would be held throughout the day.

The location of the General’s barracks was also given to you by the elderly human tavernmaster. He encouraged the group to partake in the festivities, but you had a job to do. As you stepped outside of the inn, a small crowd caught your attention. As you approached, you could hear the ramblings of a copper dragonborn acolyte droning on and on about the end of days. As you were about to take your leave, some of his ramblings began to sound familiar. He mentioned the sea hag that you had fought previously, and that her alliance with some dark power would bring the cities of this world to its knees. He seemed perhaps a little crazy, but some of his information matched what you had previously heard.
@Ermine West and East on a globe are all relative. For example, America is East of China, but we are called the West and they are called the Far East. My assumption is that we are on what's designated as the Western continent, and group 1 is on the Eastern or Central contenent. Perhaps there is another continent in between? I said it was probably closer to sail west to get to group 1 because there's an amount of land mass not shown in this map (it continues to the east some distance).
