The Ottomans have such a huge debt for purely historical reasons - though I was sure they'd defaulted on all those by now ^^'
@Ampahros Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't entirely sure if it was Istanbul or Constantinople, but since Istanbul tends to refer to Constantinople after the conquest I assumed it would have been officially the name at the time. Apparently not ^^' I will also edit the Austria-Hungary mistake.
Just a quick note, 'Central Asian Khanates' includes Afghanistan. If that isn't obvious I can put Afghanistan in there for clarity.
Lots of fun? Are you kidding?? It will be the MOST fun I've had in ages! I mean I get to kill the queen and take over the country and- oh...uh...forget I said that...

His most glorious and sublime majesty notes with ever growing concern the terrible crises racking the Americas, which in their turn have caused tensions to rise in Europe. Having recently emerged from a most taxing and destructive war, the Ottoman Empire strongly advices all nations to hold strongly to peace and dialogue. We, as civilised nations which are models to the world, cannot be seen to be indulging in such base and barbaric activities any longer. His majesty would like to point out that while those in power sit in the safety of their homes and vie for glory and other such whimsical and low desires, it is the masses of people - who wish for a good, safe life - who suffer most. Those who shall bear the consequences of these conflicts are not the old men of today, but the generations of the future who shall be forever scarred by the legacy of the ever-bloodier and more destructive wars.

We would therefore like to reiterate the calls of Brazil for a peaceful resolution. Despite the clearly aggressive stance of the Union - which is understandable under the current situation - the Ottoman Empire strongly believes that there is a way for peace and unity, as well as for the Confederacy and the Union to get some of what they wish for. Slavery as it is has manifested in the west is indeed a most barbaric thing, and we believe that the institute of slavery should be reformed in the Confederacy so as to meet the basic needs of human beings: slaves should be cared for and looked after in the right way, and have ways in which they can earn their freedom. While the abolition of slavery may be attractive to the Union, it is clearly part of the social fabric of the Confederacy and must be respected, though as mentioned earlier, the Confederacy should be prepared to reform and better the institute of slavery for those who are now victims of a most barbaric system.

Once more, we call out for the Union to reconsider their declaration of war on the Confederacy and come to the negotiation table. Through compromise and dialogue, unity can surely be achieved and each side of this terrible conflict can achieve some of their goals while not causing the losses and destruction a war would bring about.

The situation in Europe has been ever tense, and these tensions have only been further inflamed by the situation in the Americas. We would like to remind our brothers in the Concert of Europe that war between us, so soon after the Crimean War, is not permissible. We would like to call for a conference in Constantinople to discuss the major issues in Europe and strategies to deal with them, especially since it has become very clear that the benefits of some of the articles of the Treaty of Paris may not be sustainable in the long run, despite their short-term benefits. Invited to this conference are the United Kingdom, France, Prussia, Austra and Russia.

To Russia we send our most sincere pity, for we do see in its outlook a childishness and ignorance matched only by its territorial size - territories, which one must add, were gained by looting and destroying the many Muslim khanates, territories earned on a trail of broken treaties and promises. One hopes that the Russian bear is today satisfied by all it has consumed and will leave neighbouring nations to prosper, safe from its greed and dishonourable ways. Perhaps this intrinsic inability of Russia to be satisfied with what it has can be solved at the Conference of Constantinople.

The Ottoman Empire would also like to turn to its brothers of the monotheistic faith, calling for a conference in the holy city of Mecca to discuss future cooperation and greater unity. Invited are Egypt, Persia, the Central Asian Khanates (includes Afghanistan), the Arab Tribes of the Hejaz, the Sultanate of Morocco and Ottoman Vassal of Tunisia.

China, as an ancient and glorious empire which has been a great trading partner and friend to all Muslim nations, has our most sincere sorrow for their great loss. We are certain, however, that just as many great Chinese emperors have passed away in the past to be replaced by those even greater, we hope that the new emperor will be in his father's traits just as , if not more, accomplished. While it saddens us that China suffers due to rebellions, we have every faith that China will survive these hardships just as it has so many times in its long and illustrious history.

Given the recent bloodshed on Ottoman soil, his imperial majesty has decided that a new era of reforms and change is upon the Empire. It will no longer be acceptable that the blood of the people of the book should be spilled on Ottoman soil. The true faith demands respect to them and the Ottoman Empire shall hereby take it upon itself to protect its Christian citizens and welcomes all the support and help of European nations in its mission to create greater tolerance and safety for people of all faiths in the Empire.

Mehmed Emin Pasha, Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire
Damn! When did this start? Have orders been submitted yet?
My, things are getting rather interesting now. Everyone is in Tortuga, there is pretty much no governor (other than a Pirate Baron living in a castle mentioned in one of the posts) and the weather is foul, so no one is getting away any time soon :P
I'm reserving the right to end the storm by the way, so for now, there will be a horrendous storm indefinitely.

Jangel, your writing is getting much better, but in that last post you kept switching between third person and first person. Try to stick with one or the other.

Oh yeah, were you able to speak with Rare?Just got back from being abroad, myself.

I did speak with him, I told him I wanted him to change some things (because I had to edit what actually happened in real life to fit what's happening in the RP) and he doesn't seem to have liked that. I haven't heard from him since.

@Jangel I don't mind if you do that, so long as it's advancing some plot you have in your mind.

At the moment the RP seems to be going ahead ok, there's no need for me to step in or do anything, everyone seems to be doing well for themselves. If anyone IS stuck and doesn't know where to go or what to do, shoot me a PM and I'll sort you out ;)

Sorry. I'm gonna be dropping out. I don't think I'm a high enough caliber for this RP.

Don't worry about high enough calibre and all that rubbish. If you can post a decent paragraph then that's good enough.
Will definitely do that if I have any questions. I personally don't right now, though I am wondering, just how excited is everybody else about this awesome RP?

Bio: William Egerton is a cold, emotionless man. He has been a cold, emotionless man for sixteen years now. He remembers…he remembers very clearly how it happened. Before then…well, it is such a long time ago now. He can hardly remember the happy, energetic youth he once was.

Born to Robert and Mary Egerton, they were amongst the most influential members of the aristocracy, and remain so to a certain degree today. He enjoyed the finest in life and was an intelligent boy to boot - unlike his younger brother, Edward, who was only too good with a sword but was not quite there with wits.

Growing up William was always close with his father and would follow him on the many campaigns and diplomatic missions or visits to the royal court, and his energy and vitality never left him. The many tutors he had over the years always noted his positive outlook on life and none left him but was influenced by his contagious optimism. At eighteen, having been betrothed for a year, William married the love of his life, Margaret Brandson, daughter of the 1st Duke of Richmond and Somerset, Henry Brandson, though his happiness was marred by the sudden deaths of both his parents.

Within two years his first child was born, a girl whom they named Isabella and two years after their second child arrived, a boy who was named William, after his father. Little is known about what occurred on the night of Margaret’s death, not more than a week after William’s birth. The official narrative is that assassins attacked the manor where they were staying, at whose hands Margaret was killed. Those who were present in the manor remember no assassins, though they do say that there was a huge racket in the room his grace, and the screams of the duke and duchess as they struggled with – what is presumed to be – the assassins woke the entire manor. When the door of their room burst open and the duke emerged, blood gushing from an open wound in his side, all were shocked, even the guards stood frozen.

The duke was taken away and cared for. Upon inspection of the room, it became clear what had occurred. The windows were shut tightly, the duchess was on the bed, a bloodied scissor in her hands, and the cause of death was suspected to have been strangling. But those were rumours. The truth, from the duke himself, was that three assassins had broken in. His wife had bravely taken up a pair of scissors and stabbed one of the assassins before the other strangled her to death. The third assassin had struggled with the duke, stabbing him before all three realised there was no hope for success and had escaped.

William was never the same after that. His energy and vitality, his optimism and positivity…were gone like distant whispers on the wind, like the shadows of ghosts in the fog of time and history. His two children were brought up by him, though his relationship with his daughter has always been better than that with his son. If anything, his treatment of William, the Younger borders on cruel at times. None no why, and none dare ask.

During the late King’s campaign in France, William’s brother, Edward, took part. William had long foregone the sword and had become quite the apt political animal, with contacts everywhere at court and influence quite frightening. Edward died in France. When the news reached William he didn’t bat an eye.
“Ashes may to ashes, and dust may to dust, but oh, I do not see my flame yet quenched.”

Personality: A cold and calculating man. William is able to hide his emotions masterfully and nothing of his thoughts is ever allowed to be reflected in his physicality. He has trained before the mirror for so long that he knows each and every expression he makes, every movement of his is rehearsed and thought-out. While usually calm and collected, William is also quite an adept actor and can, when he so wishes, give the impression that he has flown into anger or his emotions have gotten the better of him. It is all an act, his life is layer upon layer of masks and lies and hypocrisy, but who is there who knows?

To the outside world, William is the staunch support of the crown, guardian of all things English, and unswerving supporter the royal famill.
