No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.

Sorry about my lack of activity for the past few days, the weekend was a bit busy. I'm back now.
IC:

"Well, that language was a little harsh." Abraham noted, glancing at Kyzan, shrugging slightly. "But, you hear worse around the multiverse."

The delivery boy glanced around, taking in his surroundings, and shifting the suitcase to the other hand. He didn't really know what was going on, nor did he really know where he was supposed to take it; But with potential cracks between dimensions, it seemed a good idea to keep it close at hand. He'd been instructed to open it if there was imminent danger, so it must have something helpful inside.

"Now all I need to do is find out where the hell I'm supposed to take this."
Interested.

Would we be able to make relatively new Riders? Rookies are an interesting character type to write.
In sharp contrast to the vast majority of those who were only just rising, or had risen only a short time ago, Alistair had been awake for quite a while. Turthfully, it would be easier to pin down the time at which he was actually sleeping than when he woke up. Falling asleep isn't easy the night before such a big day, but it's even harder to stay asleep during those nights. If he had to guess, he'd say that he slept from nine to midnight, was awake from midnight to two, slept from two to five, and then was up again, and this time, stayed up.

It wasn't hard to move about without waking anyone; no one was sleeping in close proximity to him, and the few people that were nearby were heavy, heavy sleepers by their snores. The teenager had woken up, risen from where he slept, and gathered his clothes. He'd had the showers to himself by virtue of being one of the only people awake. A hot shower had done wonders to make him more alert, and when he exited, he took a moment to examine his face in the mirror.

...

He really needed a haircut. A moment later, he actually chuckled; It was hilarious that he was noticing that he needed a haircut the day that would decide where his life went. Well, if things went really badly, it'd also decide if his life continued. He wasn't going to be fighting trainees today. Today, it was real Grimms, and rumor had it that there were some tough ones as well. Whether teachers were monitoring or not, there was a very significant inherent risk.

Well, he'd known that when he signed on.

Toweling his hair dry he grabbed his clothes off the rack, pulling them on easily before heading back towards where he'd slept. It was still half an hour til everyone would begin waking up; Time enough to grab a small breakfast, nothing big, he'd be very physically active two hours into the future and it wouldn't do to be too full, and do some last minute checks over his gear.

********************************

Two canisters of yellow dust, one of red, and one of white. That was all the dust that he had. Truth be told, it was more than he usually had. He'd only had two canisters for his entrance exam, and that had been enough, albeit only barely. He'd pulled out all the stops for today, he'd done a full examination of both Hell and Heaven, and replaced any parts that seemed even slightly suspect. All systems were functional as good as ever, and maybe even better than normal.

Time would tell if they would remain reliable.

Clearing that line of thought from his head, he arrived at the docks, just a few minutes after the others. His coat was fastened tightly, the glove pulled over his left hand, and he was far more alert than he normally was. Maybe it was adrenaline, maybe it was the coffee, but whatever it was, he was glad of it. He'd need it.

"So, everyone ready for today?" He said brightly, approaching the group of KK, Sayuri, Arara, Jacklyn, and Reya.

Hm, and from Alistair's cryfest poorfag backstory, they need to get the parts using their own money and such, right? So there's no specific class where students go make their weapons themselves, during class time? Trying to figure some things out at the moment.

Oh please, if that constitutes a cryfest, clearly you're not familiar with TVTropes' standards for "Woobie" and "Broken Bird". :p
(Whoops. I missed the post just prior to my last one; Rearranging this post slightly so things make sense again. No actual change, just wanted to make note of it here. XD)

Abraham, Museum

Of course, all of Abraham's need to explain away his slip went away when one of the people he'd been speaking to momentarily reverted to what looked to be a squid-like alien, before turning human again. And one of the other people he had been talking to didn't seem surprised.

....

Okay, maybe they were aware of the wider multiverse. Huh. That didn't happen often in his travels.

"I would say that they are cracks in the dimensional wall, at least that'd be my guess, but the actual odds of that happening are minute." He commented, staring at the wall.

"... Though admittedly if this museum is using special effects for that, they're some damn good ones. Anyway, who're you lot?"
"My guess? Some kind of dimensional crack. At last, that's the effect I think they're going for."

A voice commented brightly from behind Alex, Kyzan, and Lili. Adjusting his glasses slightly, Abraham studied the cracks in the wall carefully, resting his hand on his chin almost thoughtfully. The seams of otherwise normal material continued to glow with that menacing red light, but he seemed very much unperturbed.

"Unlikely, though. Dimensional cracks haven't been a common event si-" He paused suddenly, realizing that he was almost about to go off on a tangent about multiversal events to people who, as far as he knew, were not even aware of the multiverse.

"Er. Obviously they haven't ever been a real occurrence, but the museum probably is going for that as its gimmick."
Delayed a comment though it is, Draconillan, my character just showed up at the museum if you need interaction.

And it would remove the need for me to try and figure out where to send Abraham without it being completely deus ex machina-y for him to interact with someone. XD

Now that I think about it...where's Kray? And yeah, I guess the whole backstory planning thing is a thing. Shoulda applied for co-GM while I still could have.

I HEARD MY NAME!

: D

Yeah, I'm still here. Sorry that I haven't been posting much over the last few days. I have multiple responsibilities on another site as well, and this weekend was the last debate meet of the season in addition to the Super Bowl (Which I don't watch, but am forced to attend family parties for anyway.).

TL;DR

The last few days have been busy.

But, I should be able to get things regulated again now, so my activity should hopefully rise again. An Alistair post detailing his wakeup in the morning should be up within the next hour or two.
Aaaaaaaaand, an introductory post for Abraham is up.
