I literally slaughtered my way through the entire game using just the avatar and on occasion Lonque and Gaius. It's sort of painful how simple it was.
Fire Emblem Awakening and Norhian path of Fates on Lunatic+
I have not sucesfully completed either, despite the tears I've spent trying to do so.
There is a very simple secret to beating Fire Emblem Awakening.
The avatar has an ability that when they're teamed up with an ally grants them double exp. If you make sure they are always teamed up with an alley by about level 10 they are so powerful they are capable of taking on entire armies completely on their own.
Speaking of hard games, what would you all consider to be some games you found to be genuinely hard to play through? o-o;
Mine would be Ninja Gaiden (the pixelated side-scroller one!) xD

Why do I suddenly feel like Sapphire, who is a girl with monumental trust issues, a seriously abusive childhood, a brother that walked out on her, an older sister she can't count on and a younger sister she has to protect from the world and she's the normal one in this group.
