I am back as well everyone! Now, I demand an 8 page essay on what has transpired. Wait no, I demand it in 3 sentences.

<Snipped quote by POOHEAD189>

-Sadri drew the fire dude's aggro with a thrown pickaxe, allowing the necromancer to zap him.
-The injured in Bthamz have stabilized, while some are trying to destroy the entangled centurion with environmental hazards.
-@Frizan is still a virgin.

He actually did it, the absolute madman.
Just waiting for a Joel-post before the firefight starts. Might make the escape from Mancini's place a collab. I don't expect them to leave unscathed, either.
Redding watched Mancini's body hit the floor and the anger guttered out in him, replaced by a very lucid sense of regret. Now, this had gone and muddied the waters a whole lot more than he was ready for. He cursed himself for being so goddamned quick to anger and looked at Joel, “I understand we were both very angry at Mancini,” Redding said, rubbing at his face, “But if we go around killing everything-”

There was a banging at the door and one of Mancini's guards was on the other side of it. Redding swallowed, this entire situation was getting just too damned cloudy for his liking. He bent down and unsheathed his boot knife before unlocking and opening the door. He met eyes with the guard, “The fuck are you guys doing in here?”

“It's alright, man, Mancini tried to get up and you know how he is with his binges-” Redding's hands went for the guard's wrist, pulling him inside the room and he put his back to the guard, flipping him up and over himself. As the guard hit the ground, Redding twisted the guard's gun hand again, forcing him to drop the handgun. Resting one knee on the back of the guard's neck, Redding snatched the pistol up and hiked the man's coat up, retrieving the extra magazine stuffed in his belt. He leveled the barrel at the back of the guard's head, letting the suppressor rest on his skull. “Why does Mancini have Darlia Lazzari here and why is she in such a shitty condition?”

He looked up, hearing the pounding of footsteps of other guards now above them. He hooked an arm around the guard's neck and hauled him up, nodding to Darlia, “Joel, get Darlia, we're leaving.”

Redding pressed the barrel of the handgun against the guard's temple and urged him forward, still in his headlock as they went outside onto the fire escape, the sounds of banging on the door giving him more reason to get the hell out of there. As they walked, he nudged the guard with the handgun, “You can walk and talk.”
@Chrononaut, @Leidenschaft, would you be willing to do a collab to get Raelyn to safety?

ye
I'll let Grim and Gatto post before I do.
Where I don't see New Reno as some kind of failed state with the same living conditions as Somalia, there is a very real sense of peace that the Dons and Donna keep over the people. Gangs like the Deathless probably stir things up a little, but for the sake of business, no one really seeks to step on eachother's toes, and the rule of law in New Reno is a bullet to the head from a cleaner contracted by one of the Families. It's still a tenuous peace, but it works. Everyone carries a gun, and our characters, what with their rampant violence, are the exception to the citizens of New Reno. 90% of the population's guns are small and are only for self defense, so no one wants or cares to bother them about it, I guess.

Grim's retcon to only have the guards pat you down further in the casino could be extended to places the Dons and Donna reside. The guards outside their offices or homes, probably. Mancini's doorman, in the instant that two known cleaners arrived, could've just brushed off their weapons as tools of the trade. Mancini said nothing about taking their weapons away, probably, and they were told a day in advance that Redding was coming and it seems that everyone in New Reno trusts Redding to not upset the balance of power in New Reno, for the sake of keeping business for himself good and steady. Not to mention Mancini's guards are probably only at half-strength in his apartment complex.

Speaking of which, Redding definitely did not have decapitation on his mind. Now, the two have to hope that the Donna is a merciful one. I like this bit of a wrench in the cogs in Redding's plans. It isn't out-of-character for either character and they'll have to adapt to the new sense of risk this presents.
So...why did they kill their best witness? Are they going to bring a beaten and half-dead relative to the Donna and say that they killed another relative of hers, under the premise that she'll take a stranger's promise that it was Mancini's fault all along?

I dunno, seems a bit fishy.

Either way, Redding is not always a rational man when he gets himself going.
At the mention of cutting her tongue out, the grip he had on his revolver made his knuckles white. He felt the same urge as when he plugged the junkie that killed Francine. He never laid a hand on his girls, bruises were bad for business but he never felt the need to hit a woman. Oh, Francine really put that to the test sometimes, but never did he crack. But cutting a girl's tongue out. He looked to Mancini, thinking just how easy it'd be to plug him right then and there. Open up his throat with his knife, throw him out of a fucking window. Push him out of his chair and smash his head in with his boot heel. He slowly exhaled through his nose and drew in a breath, trying to calm himself. Nothing would be gained by letting himself slip back to his old murderous ways. His brothers weren't here to drag him out of the shit like they used to be.

He stepped in front of Joel, it seemed his body got warmer from the waves of malice emanating from the other man. He could see it in his eyes. He spoke in a voice quiet enough to go unheard by Mancini and to lend some weight to his words, “Now, you remember where we are. Remember who this piece of fucking dog-shit is in front of us,” And he met eyes with the soldier, “You and I don't need to make enemies of the Lazzaris by doing what we both are itching to do.”

He let his gaze linger on Joel, trying to make his point sink in. He and Joel had survived this long in their businesses and going around killing capos for junkie whores down on their luck was not the reason. He stepped away from the soldier and met eyes with Mancini, or at least looked at Mancini's eyes while they rolled around aimlessly in the high. “Well, Mancini. The Golden Globe doesn't have a use for a girl who can't talk and is fucked in the head, so I can't put her to work there. No tourist's going to pay me for a broad who's crazy. I'm having a hard enough time with Bobbi.” He shrugged.

He turned to go for the door, but as his hand was a finger's breadth from the knob, he stopped. The questions picked at him like a crow at a corpse. Nothing about this felt right the more he turned things over in his mind. Mancini seemed... off. His hand rested on his hip, his thumb just happening to brush the metal frame of his revolver. Fancy that. “Say, why're you being so goddamned vague about this chick? If she's no use to you, why didn't you just off her instead of wasting another man's precious damned time...” He had to stop himself from rushing Mancini and stabbing him until he could make even Joel blush, he continued calmly, “...Precious time and frankly insulting him by trying to dump damaged goods in his lap. I pay my dues to the Lazzaris. Same as any businessman in your lot's neck of the woods, and by extension, I'm paying you. So do me one kindness in return for not being a prick in your side. Take off her hood.”

One, he was very agitated that he came all the way here expecting a job with guaranteed caps. Two, the man was trying to sell him damaged goods- 'Oh, this apple? Yeah, it's fucking rotten and there's a worm on the inside. Had to cut off a moldy bit, but look at the rest of it! Ain't it beautiful? Got a sheen, don't it? Whaddaya say?' Anyone else made him a proposition like that, they'd be dead in the gutter as an example. Before Mancini could make a move towards the girl or not, he spoke in a quiet voice, "The two cleaners alone with you in this room would very much like you to remove that girl's hood, Mancini." He realized his revolver was in his hand, but he had no complaints about that.
Alright, well, I did some reading in the very earlier pages. Killing Mancini is going to put Redding and Joel on the Lazzaris' shit-list. So that's Oliver Fedorov and Donna Regina Lazzari, as well as the Fiends that all want Redding dead. Most Wanted Men in New Reno: Redding Schmidt and Joel Woods.
Oh, man. Even Redding has his limits. Currently trying to figure out whether he'd blast Mancini where he stood or keep his cool. Gonna let everyone else get a post in before Redding reacts.
