@Lugia What Zav says is true, while I'm giving you the option to choose it's suppose to be "random". If you meant something that would fit Trevor's personality I'd actually say Bug. Sort of weird, not really immediately useful, but at the same time surprisingly powerful when you least expect it. Mechanically speaking, Bug type is useful against Dark and Psychic, and based on your backstory Trevor did somehow manage to go ape on some bullies (Typically dark types) and is actually smart enough to go college (smart people stuff aka Psychic). Just as well right now Trevor might seem like he's kind of out of it, but when the going gets tough or they face off against a read bad guy, he'll have the chops to do some serious damage.

How about electricity? That way if you go up against any flying or water types you have a move for them. Ice is also a good one if you need to deal with ground, dragons, and for some reason grass types though you cover that with fire anyways. Straight up dragon element is a bit cliche for charmander lines but it's decent too, so long as you're not up against any faeries. Ice is pretty much the only other thing dragon would be weak against and I don't imagine a Charmander will have any issue with ice pokemon.

Do what you gotta do matey. Don't be afraid to ask your own questions considering that IC your dude really doesn't know, so it would behoove him to find out. unless you're the type of guy who lets other people do the learning for em, as I said you do you.

"No and yes. Hidden power doesn't really help you learn moves that you normally aren't capable of. Even though my hidden power is a water element, that doesn't mean I'll be able to shoot water from my hands or something like that. That being said, the very basics of how Hidden Power helps with your general elemental powers. You see, every pokemon is, in some way or form, capable of a sort of quasi psychic power. Now most tend to rely on their bodies natural attributes, for example that charmander over there wouldn't need any of this training if all he wants to do is breath fire from his body. But if he wants to say, fire a solar beam, he would need to understand these basics you're learning right now, to clear his mind and envision the elemental power he's trying to call forth. You can't build a house without first starting with foundation after all."

"Well first you need to focus on the target, guide it with your eyes. It's harder than it sounds; just one errant glance will cause your orb to go off course. Honestly, using your hands to guide your attacks is a bit of a crutch, since anything that blocks your hands would also block your attack. If you just use your eyes though, as long as you can keep track of your target it should work out. Also pratice."

Alright cool, so this gives you options. Originally it'll take you about 55 hours to blitz through all of these books, but at the rate you're going it'll only take you 16 hours. Still a whole lot of time, and you'd be up for practically 18 hours or so just doing that, thus you'll likely be exhausted by the next day. So I'll break this down into three different choices.

You can spend 8 hours reading and get through 6 out of the 11 books. By the time you're done the afternoon bell would ring and everyone would be closing their shop and heading home or going to get dinner.

You can spend 4 hours reading and get through 4 out of the 11 books. By this time you'll be done shortly after the noon bell, which is usually lunchtime/when people go to the temple for service. You could then go do other stuff or just stay at the temple and sit in on a service.

You can spend 2 hours reading and get through 3 books out of the 11. It would be late morning by this time, around 11AM or so, so you'll still have most of the day to do whatever before people go about any notable business such as getting lunch, going to mass, etc.

Obviously the more books you go through the more information you'll get. Not everything you'll learn would be relevant to why you're here, but some can be helpful for other reasons as well, such as learning more about how to deal with certain monsters or general adventuring tips and tricks.

"Ah well, not exactly nah. I uh, volunteered ta help handle riggins, figured you know, since sum of da usual gents are sleeping now dat yer on watch, I ought to do my bit. Wasn't really all dat busy dis mornin after all on account of da captain's fairly smooth sailin, so ain't like I'm tired or nuthin." Sticky says as you two reach the deck. It was a dark night as the moon was covered by clouds. If you were human you'd pratically be blinded by the darkness, but fortunately your eyes allow you to easily see the area around you, at least a little bit. Looking over the side of the ship however, you'd only see the surface of the ocean; whatever was below was covered by an impenetrable darkness.

"An uh, as fer fightin well... Honestly, kinda hope dere ain't no trouble. I knew da first mate mentioned a bounty fer fishmen heads, but usually dey in da waters. Dey don't ever go onto the deck unless dey want prisoners..." Sticky nervously put his hand on the head of his axe. It was a sizable battleaxe, similar to what many other orcs carry. His had a silver coin inlaid on the pommel. His other weapon was a short sword on the opposite hilt, very plain, as well as a light crossbow slung over his shoulders, though it was currently dissembled. It would take him at least a minute to put it together, and a seconds were precious in a real fight.

Unfortunately, the previous book didn't elaborate on what the Arisen is. It was simply one of the many titles of previous kings, usually followed by "earned by defeating the beast so-and-so the great and terrible". The main inconsistency was that it seemed the Erod gained this title before sealing the dragon, whereas it's implied that the other kings gained the title after the fact. Either way there wasn't any further information from the previous book. Even when you ask the acolyte, he takes some time to search but unfortunately the best he can bring is a few books about various heroes, and none of them mention the Arisen at least not in the titles or prefaces. You could try to read all of them, but there were at least eleven more books, and each one much thicker than the previous two you had. At least three hundred pages each.

The next book, though just as thick, you go through it much faster in about half an hour now that you got your reading engines all warmed up. Erod's autobiography reads more like your typical fantasy adventure book that you've half a mind to think it's really fiction, but then again this entire world feels like it's straight from some fantasy fiction. It starts with Erod's typical humble beginning story where he's the son of a squire, his training and so forth, and it's only about halfway into the book that it actually gets to to the dragon. The first half was mostly his training and upbringing which seemed far too idealistic to be realistic. As for the dragon, it said that he came from the deepest pits of the earth, and that his wings cast a foul darkness across the lands. It cursed everywhere that the darkness touched, causing the dead to rise and monsters to be born from shadows. Many kingdoms formed an alliance to slay the dragon and it's army, but it's powers were too much even for them. Though they won many victories against the dragon's monsters, they could never slay the dragon themselves. It wasn't until Erod took a silver sword blessed by the maker himself that he was able to seal the dragon away, and cast the sword back into the darkness it came from.

Once more, details about the dragon but not so much why you're here. That being said perhaps this pit the dragon came from might be relevant, considering you too came out from a pit. Though how that relates to the dragon you saw in your dreams, that connection was unclear. You certainly didn't see any silver swords in that pit and even the throwing knives you found were more on the rusty dull side. Again if it weren't for the fact you were in a fantasy world, the entire autobiography could be written off as some work of fiction by a novice novelist. There was, however, one thing that might be a decent lead. When Erod had obtained the silver sword, it was because he had also obtained the name of Arisen. What that meant the book did not explain, but you do vaguely remember from the previous book that many kings have been called Arisen because of their deeds in life, though only if they had slain a great beast threatening the lands, which was usually a dragon. There was one minor example about a king who slew some sort of troll, but even that turned out to be partly draconic.

It takes you a little over an hour to get through the first book. The author wasn't much of a writer, and seemed to largely be writing about Erod's reign over his rise. In it the author writes a lot about the good things Erod had done such as revitalizing the military and economical foundation of Gransys, as well as forging beneficial alliances with the neighboring countries, formerly enemies and even conquerors at times. There was only brief information about his dragon slaying days at the beginning, and even that was mostly about how bad things were in Gransys already before the Duke, at the time a mere warrior, slew the dragon and earned dukedom. At the very least it mentioned how the Erod was given the divine right to be duke after slaying the dragon. After that though it just went into details about the political system of Gransys.

All in all, not much about why you're here. You've never received any form of divine direction sans the dream, assuming that wasn't simply a dream. At least there was Erod's book which might at least speak more about the dragon.
