Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Hola. Looking at the spreadsheet, there's an opening on JRVR. Is this true? Am I allowed to apply :P

You most certainly are! My apologies for not replying sooner. Please, do whip up a sheet.
I'll have another independent post up shortly.
Results have been posted. Thank you guys for jumping in on my silly contest!
My thanks to the four who participated! Just a quick run-down this time since I'm newly back from travelling. NarayanK, I'm afraid you did not hold up to your previous standards in this competition. The look you provided into Sangue's 'opposite day' was pretty limited; all three of the other characters had the same trait swapped (chibi-ization), I couldn't tell what Sangue's was if any, and the whole premise struck me more as strange than funny. It was difficult for me to select the runner-up this time, but in the end, I decided that I preferred the humor of Guess Who -even if he did kill my character- to the drastic seriousness of PrinceOfSeraph's entry. Don't be fooled, PoS, your entry was fantastic, and made an intriguing story in its own right, and you did well with the traits, but the hammer of "super-subjective-ism" is coming down on you this time. Perhaps you could let me know in the main thread what Abel's swapped trait was; I'm guessing from what others said, it's that in the alternate reality he has a sense of humor. And finally, that leaves the winner's pot of two credits to Forsythe. You managed to not only do pretty much exactly what I asked traits-wise, but you did it multiple times, and the whole thing ended up being a story with some serious bits but also some humor. If HOB were a TV show, then your Opposite Day would have been the perfect filler episode, which was what this was all about. Good work, folks.

If nobody wants to be the next judge, I'll start up a new contest tonight. It's going to be a creation one.
Fleo rubbed her eyes. The sheer speed and ferocity with which the two combatants fought astounded her. If she hadn't seen it with her own two eyes, she would have confidently insisted that nobody could come near, much less fight against, the maelstrom of blades that Damian provided. Yet, Minerva had indeed done so. Right off the bat it was blindingly obvious just how blindingly fast the woman was, but halfway through the battle (after she had been disarmed) she had apparently received her second wind, and moved too quickly for Fleo's eyes to follow. The dusty one could guess why the duel had been so intense: both wizards were fighting not only in the physical world, but also the one of ideals. Such a conflict turned a sportsmanlike struggle into a passionate vendetta, and when Minerva finally won, Fleo was just glad that neither had been reduced to mincemeat. If they had been any less appreciative of the consequences, they would have certainly killed one another--such was their tenacity.

Sure, it gave Fleo some pleasure to see arrogant, prying Damian knocked down a peg, but at the same time it also made Fleo feel guilty. She had wanted him to suffer a small prick to his pride, but losing after such a boast, not to mention to a lower-class wizard, had to hurt. Regardless of the mental consequences of the too-serious sparring match, the physical outcome was clear. Neither Damian nor Minerva could fight again anytime soon, and Fleo was glad.

How would she even have fought one of them? she ruminated. To start off, she would have called a Dust Craft: Earth, to create some territory that she could manipulate. After that...? That's what improvisation was for. "Maybe in a few minutes, Felix!" She called to the boy before he approached and engaged an enervated Minerva in conversation.

Then onto the scene, within only moments of one another, came Candy, Mithera, and most of all, Karn. Candy's odd appearance and total addiction to sugar gave Fleo a mixed vibe of insanity and friendliness, which she greeted with what she hoped was a friendly smile. Mithera's stateliness earned her a congenial wave, though Fleo didn't catch on to her injury. However, Fleo quickly found her entire attention thoroughly routed to Karn as the guy bounded around, talking a mile a minute and generally exuding a degree of hyperactivity that made even Fleo's head spin. She managed to be surprised when he seized her hand, endowed upon her a nickname, and belted out a good deal more before leaping to his next victims. Fleo could hardly compose herself to reply (mostly to caution him about the new dust on his hands, which he was now sharing with everyone else he was touching), and by the time she did he had already moved away.

Now, everyone who was here -right outside the guild hall and next to the place where the duel had gone down- consisted of only her, Candy, Jamie, and Amaya. Mithera, Zero, and Karn were a little farther away, Damian was sprawled on the ground, and Felix had gone inside for Minerva. Fleo looked left to right with a growing grin on her face. "You people are crazy. I guess I've come to the right place! Anyone want to help me get Mr. S-class inside?"
That is not a bad idea actually. Since the Monolith people have rejected her, she needs a new person to help her out. One of Emily's scouting Blanks could find you, and peak her interest.

While the Journeymen have rejected her, some sort of understanding might still be come to with the spirit Providence itself.
he entrance of Minerva, and her subsequent exchange with Jamie, went sadly unnoticed by Fleo. At the moment, she was engaging in a rather flighty conversation with Felix. The dusty woman found in the boy a companion with almost as much youthful enthusiasm as she, and the aimless chatting that resulted from this discovered swept across a plethora of subjects. Food, fellow guild members, weather, Magnolia, magic and more came and went quickly. Fleo knew that her talk with Felix held little base value, but she was simply glad to have someone to speak with to ease the tension. She suspected that Felix felt the same way; the entire guild had just gone through something extraordinary, and if a harmless chat could help alleviate the stress, Fleo was all in. Plus, she felt she was well on the way to earning herself a new friend.

When Minerva approached, however, the conversation died off. Fleo watched, fiddling with her hair, as she confronted Damian. The coldness between them was plain to see, even if they hadn't been pointedly talking about why. Damian's brief mention of the fate of his parents touched Fleo despite the swordmaster's earlier callousness. If he was so quick to declare the cause of his strife, she could almost understand why he'd be impatient with the secrets of others. Her sympathies lay more, however, with Amaya. Though Fleo's powers of perception weren't as unfairly keen as certain others, she hazarded a guess that this woman was as new in Pheonix Wing as she was. She couldn't keep a smile from appearing on her face—a true kindred spirit!

The pleasure of such a prospect was, in fact, enough to mask her displeasure that Damian had apparently changed his mind about sparring today, and would be glad to have Fleo 'next' after he finished with Minerva. “That's some ominous arrogance,” the dusty one breathed, too quietly to hear. Truth to be told, Fleo didn't relish fighting an S-class wizard, but win or lose, she'd be able to show her shine. Since it was going to be a few moments before her time in the spotlight came, Fleo spoke to Amaya.

“Hiya! I'm new too! Fleo Plector, at your service!” She took a moment to think about how best to advance. People who said 'for my own reasons' weren't often extroverts. “Now, I don't want to seem too friendly, but given that we're both newbies here, maybe you'd like a chat?”
Little did you know that the person in question was Jaune. This is the price for lack of description.

I'm beginning to see that my 'maximum words' bit for the contest was a bit low for something with the potential to be this complicated.
I am sorry, Cyclone, but I am already too involved with a bunch of RPs. if I'm able to shake one or two off I'll certainly check it out.

My next post will come after Kaben responds. By the way, Kaben, you could stand to post on HOB. Something very attention-grabbing has just happened in Survival class.
Jangel you've confused your HOB character with your Pheonix Wing character. In addition, you might want to read my most recent posts to acquaint yourself with what I've thrust upon Survival class. You can skip past the wood-collecting bit if you like, or change it to passive past tense.
