Well, I have posted my first IC post in months.

15th July 1944
Sorry for taking so long to write one simple letter to everyone. You know how it goes. I am busy finishing off the Germans with other important military fellows. Hell, I ended up at a party down at some English pub before we left for France. It was fun to celebrate and hang out with the others before our work began. Anyway, I have safely arrived at France with all of my limbs intact. I felt like writing this letter to tell y'all that I am still alive and well. And I got the letter about Joseph. I can't believe that he is growing up so fast. Felt like ages since I last saw him. I hope that he still remembers Uncle Clifford when I come back home.

Anyway, I am feeling a lot better that I have wrote this short letter. Also, the beaches of Normandy is a sight to see. Amazing to see the place where hundreds of people died during the D-Day invasion. Thankfully, this war might be over in the matter of months and I can finally come home. Good luck and stay safe while working in the factories.

One more thing, I will be sure to take some pictures of villages in France for the couple (I am talking to you Julia and Wyatt).

I am hopeful that today's operations are fruitful and our platoons gets to kill some Germans. I am going with 1st platoon to see the action up close while providing my skills during the fighting. Unrelated to today's operations, I just learned that Theodore Roosevelt Jr. died a few days before we landed. Imagine getting on the beaches of Normandy, ready to fight for your country against the enemy. Then, you died of a heart attack. It's sad when someone as important as Theodore dies before they could even begin their mission. Hell, I would be pissed that I died without doing anything impactful. Thankfully, I am young and healthy.

I will be lasting for a long time. Anyway, I will be writing again whenever we start fighting the enemy forces. I hope that God is with us and protecting us while we fight the enemies of freedom.

California, Baja, Southern Oregon, and parts of Nevada and Arizona.

History
After Mr. House's victory at Hoover Dam, the New California Republic were forced retreated from New Vegas. President Aaron Kimball returned to Shady Sands with demands of resignation from citizens mourning the loss; but thanks to a couple victories against The Legion, the party managed to stay in power. The winning streak didn't last long due to Midwestern Brotherhood's intervention, which forced the government to sign a peace treaty between the Legion and the Midwestern Brotherhood. Once the treaty was published, the party lost all control of the government.

The new government dealt with a recession and several issues before James Kimball, son of Aaron Kimball, ran for office. Kimball carefully read his father's mistakes during the war with the Legion and vowed to redo his father's mistakes. With the support of the military and luck, James won the presidency. During his first few weeks in office, he had arrested many wealthy citizens like Heck Gunderson and increased the size of the army. Rumors began to spread that Kimball had blackmailed his way to the presidency and forced the wealthy to pay for the upcoming invasion. The invasion caught many people by surprised especially General Edward Reid.

At first, people supported the invasions of Oregon and Arizona. Then, Kimball managed to upset off every major faction in the Far West with his dictatorial traits. He managed to make everyone like the Legion while they were planning to destroy the Republic. Because of the inevitable end of the Republic, General Reid had enough of fighting a losing war and defected from Kimball's campaign. In his hometown, nearby Owens Lake, Reid began to plan the assassination of James Kimball and the current government in power. After weeks of gaining support from within the military, he felt like that it was time to restore the Republic before it comes crashing down.

The Kimball administration showed one of several flaws to having a democratic federation is that everyone can become president. General Reid knew that democracy is a key factor to the history of the New California Republic; however, he knew that temporary military rule is the only best solution to fixing Kimball's mess.

Military
The New California Republic's military is composed of several Divisions, including marksmen, scouts, mechanized units and a small number of Vertibird.

The military's organization is inspired by the pre-War American structure, although adapted to the much smaller population of the wastelands. The standard level of organization of infantry forces is the battalion, which in turn is divided into companies under the command of a Captain. Companies are in turn divided up into platoons. These are sometimes divided into squads (created at the Commanding Officer's discretion) and are typically led by a sergeant or other non-commissioned officer.

Other branches in the military separate from the regular army include NCR Recon (which includes 1st Recon), the NCR Heavy Infantry Corps which are under direct command of General Shu, medical corps, logistics corps (quartermasters are typically non-commissioned officers), and the NCR military police. One of their Special Forces units consists of the New California Rangers, a select group that is pledged to protect the people of the Wastes much like the Texas Rangers of old. Ghouls, super mutants, and humans were all known to serve in the NCR armed forces.

Economy
The majority of the NCR populace is made up of farmers, traveling merchants and poor settlers seeking protection from the dangers of the post-apocalyptic world - a luxury usually only available to the rich and powerful. In exchange for their protection, the NCR classes them as a 'citizen' and collects taxes from them which is mostly used on the military to arm, train and supply their troops. Citizenship can be given to entire settlements and put under NCR jurisdiction if requested, however this practice is controversial in the Mojave due to rumors of the NCR supposedly bullying weaker settlements and incorporating them against their will.

The New California created its own currency in the form of gold coins and paper money around the turn of the 22nd century. Bottle caps were useless at this time due to the gold reserves of the NCR. This changed when the Brotherhood of Steel destroyed the gold reserves in 2281. The NCR dollar devalued and the conversion rate lowered to 2.5 NCR dollars to one cap.

Culture and Technology
The New California Republic enforces strict rules upon their citizens and in their cities. In areas under military law, such as the Mojave, crimes are typically punished by death. Openly carrying arms, prostitution, gambling, and slavery are not permitted within city limits. Persons found under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be arrested. While The NCR has access to stockpiles of pre-War technology and is beginning to create their own with the Gun runners, the unofficial 6th branch of the army constantly creating new weapons such as the 5.56mm pistol. Although the NCR does have access to Energy weapons most troopers even elite heavy troopers or rangers use ballistic weapons.

However, given the size of the NCR army, the standard trooper is usually equipped only equipped with a post war production service rifle and tan colored plate armour (although even this in superior to what most of their rivals have). Elite/special troopers have access to per-war riot and power armour (both per-war and acquired from the brotherhood hood); but in the case of power armor, they lack the proper equipment to repair it.

As for Civilian technology, the New California Republic is most likely the most technology enhanced nation (not including groups) left in American with its citizens in core states enjoying most if not all the comforts per-war Americans did. Life on the frontier is rougher but the NCR has knowledge of Irrigation, construction (lime stone buildings), proper medical care and is (or was) attempting to set up an Railroad network.

The NCR also has several different types of vehicle; however, they are almost exclusively owned/used by the military/government.

Religion
There isn't any official religion in New California Republic and a clear separation of church and state in the government.

Background
Born in the city of Arlington, Clifford's family had been in the military since the Civil War. His father lost his right leg during the first World War in the Second Battle of Marne. His father's tales of combat during the war caused him to become interested in joining the military. Clifford went and graduated from Texas State University after he finished up high school. Afterwards, he joined the military and began his work on the officer basic course in the early forties. Once he was finished with the course, Clifford was assigned as the company's operations sergeant in 1943. His mother and father were still alive when their son left for Europe. He wrote letters to them and his friends whenever he could.

Now, Clifford is preparing for the coming days in the fight against the dying Nazi German army.
