Ok, it feels like I need more than just that scant introductory.

To sum up my RP experience, I've been mostly a GM for a little more than 3 years---not because I set out to be a Game Master, but because no one else wanted the job in our little circle. I was already a writer and worldbuilder, so when I took that GM armband, I had no shortage of plot and stories to spin. Besides, I am always available, and there is always a demand for a new thing.

My GMing style kinda reflects that origin. I favor campaigns with clear direction and purpose. Stories that know where they’re going, but leave room for the players to decide how to get there. I believe in narrative first, mechanics second.

In terms of tone and pacing, I like things that are fast but thoughtful; casual enough to keep momentum, yet deep enough to give every post meaning.

Despite all of that, I acknowledge that writing a solo work and roleplaying are two different things. I'd prefer to consider myself a novice. Due to the nature of my approach, I may be prone to making mistakes, or something that perhaps disatisfies my fellow players. Please reach out if you feel so. I am always willing to listen to your thoughts and feedback.

My works (current and finished):
Duplicitous Ruins in the Land of Twilight
Foreword: Why was this world created, and what inspired it
Sovereign's Will: A Fantasy Roleplaying Game. [CONCLUDED]

Sonia was well aware of the captain's vexation, well it wasn't like he made an effort to hide it anyway. Smiling to herself, the young demoness let the bearded fellow finish his inquiries about paperwork (what a thoughtful fellow he was) before gleefully adding to the Captain's troubles.

"Pardon, captain. Another thing. Assuming we agree to show up tomorrow, do you have any *recommendations* on where we can stay overnight?"

For a mission that did seem... iffy, her question was whimsical at best. Surely, Sonia could pick on the lack of 'knowledge' that the Captain seemed too fond to answer. The crown not knowing about their territory? In this time and age? Seems fishy. And where was the Duke by the way? She figured if they were his next hope to find his baby girl, he would at least be present to see who his employees were. And lastly, Sonia didn't really like the idea that the captain would depart with them. Making her wonder if the guy wanted some of the credit for himself.

Sighing, Sonia thought; people were always like that, right?
Sonia eyed the Captain with a monotone expression. She would be more than happy if the Captain would elaborate on what he meant by 'explorative fancies' and 'for good reasons'. Verily, the devil was always in the details of this mission, and yet, the captain didn't seem like someone who knew Miralys on a personal level. The Hunter began to see now why their search effort stagnated.

Sonia smiled at him for courtesy's sake. "If I am allowed to offer advice, the reason why Lady Myralys went to that particular area could have been a very important clue. I'd ask her personal maid about it, her friends maybe, what she shares with them, the specific intrigues. That's just my suggestion. I think I have nothing else to ask, for now. Thank you for answering, Captain."

There will be moments to ask the specifics tomorrow, Sonia thought.

After her, another adventurer, a curvy lady stepped forth and declared her disposition before abruptly leaving the hall. A bit peculiar sight, if one asked her, but not entirely unexpected.
Sonia waited, patiently listening to the briefing from its beginning to end like an investigator listening to a testimony from a witness. If there were paper and graphite available, she would scribble a thing or two, but she then realized that it would be quite improper.

Regardless, the Captain's accounts left a few questions hanging, so she wasted no time to ask.

"Excuse me, Captain Graystone, I hope you don't mind a few questions." The young demon tried to keep the pleasantries short, but not insufficient it would seem discourteous. "For what purpose did Lady Myralys go to those ruins? How many aides did she bring with her? Was she alone? You spoke about Dangerous entities, are these entities already common knowledge prior to Miss Myralys' departure"?

She had a few more, including the assurance that the villagers were deemed to be the unlikely cause of Myralys' disappearance, and the Captain believing that a 'greater mystery' was behind all this. To her, it seemed like quite a premature conclusion, but she was not from here and her knowledge about this matter is limited at best.

Name: Sonia Al-Hathya
Appearance: Sonia is a fair-skinned young woman with a lean build. She is 172cm tall, with red hair that is either tightened in a loose ponytail or be left untied. Like any other demon descendant, she has red, slitted pupils, and short spiky horns jutting out of her head.
Sonia wears a basic black shirt, skirt, and leggings, and as a hunter, she often complements her appearance with a drab green coat with oversized hoodies to accommodate her protruding horn and striking red hair.

Character Background: Sonia was the daughter of a weapons inventor and dealer named Davon Alhazen who once was the biggest supplier for warring countries in the northern side of the continent, and he maintained that successful enterprise until the assassination of him and his wife ten years ago.

Fortunately, Sonia survived. But the ordeal had scarred her both physically and mentally, which later led to partial amnesia she suffered for a few following years, leaving only her skill in marksmanship and a few fragments of her identity, the only and necessary skill she capitalized to survive as a hunter, and a way to earn a living even after she recovered her memories.

It has been a month without a single contract, and while she was far from being destitute, Sonia prefers to keep herself in a constant, monthly paycheck. So she grabbed the flyer and rode to Windermere. It was not a hunting job, true, but after completing her training in Rosemary, she was also eager to put her tracking skills to the test.

Skillsets:

-Heightened Senses
As an expert hunter, Sonia can perceive details others would have missed. Useful in tracking and examining trails, old and new. Relying on this instinct, she could also sense unseen danger.

-Expert Marksmanship
Sonia can shoot accurately over a long distance, as long as her weapons allow. Thankfully her unique crossbow was designed for such a great effective range. Her record was one hundred and fifty meters in shooting a target at its vital point.

-Survivalist
As a hunter, Sonia has all the skills she needs to survive indefinitely in almost all sylvan environments

Equipment
-Alhazen Crossbow
Designed by her father, and the only thing she inherited from her parents after the tragedy. It was a weapon like no other, with a stock and lower body resembling a shortened musket. It was made of black and smooth materials like painted metal, but it was not at all metal, it felt lighter, with pulleys and specialized strings attached to its reversed limbs. The crossbow is operated mainly by pulling the charging handle under its barrel, and a bolt would then be affixed to the barrel, making it both unassuming but still an engineering marvel at the same time.

-Backpack
A medium-sized backpack containing all the necessities for all your woodland adventures.

-Medikit
Generic first aid kit that is in the name only. Upon closer inspection, it looked nothing like the "first aid kit" commonly sold in the market. Consult with Sonia before use.

-Multi-purpose machete
Used for skinning. It has a toothed edge on one side. Always maintained therefore very sharp.

-Canvas quiver containing 25 bolts

-A set of tools to repair her crossbow
After mulling it over, I think I will participate. So here is my character, ready for evaluation

This is my first option, depending on the complete roster and other player's preferences, I might propose another character instead of this one. Likely Edwarg if we lack any healers, or someone else if we lack any vanguard.

And, about the discord for this RP, can I have the link?

<Snipped quote by Mas Bagus>

Hmm I'd say the fewer magical / fantastical elements regarding the character, the better... since the theme of the RP focuses on characters traveling from a mundane to a bizarre world, there's more of an effect if the contrast is greater. However this is still low fantasy so magic isn't totally prohibited. To give a more balanced example, if you're familiar with D&D / TTRPGs, something like a level 1-3 magic user here would be acceptable, but probably nothing much more than that. If you'd like to provide more specific examples of your characters' abilities, I can let you know how appropriate I feel they would be.

Ah, I see, after some consideration I think will sit this one out for the time being. Good luck, and I hope everyone participating will have a great time.

(Note: The setting we are starting in leans towards low fantasy, so a somewhat reserved approach regarding character creation would be preferred. For example, your character knowing some magic would be fine, but being a giant land-squid with time traveling capabilities, not as much. If you're unsure, just ask~ ^^)

Looking at the criteria and example, I see that the lower and upper thresholds are quite radical. Surely I would personally stay away from submitting Mr. Big Squiddy Time Traveler, but what qualifies as "knowing some magic" anyway? Because looking at some of my characters, the magical properties in their skillsets are anything but "some", but they certainly nothing bizarre like time travelling.

The next obelisk emerged, further fortifying the belief that those intruders were not all talk, but before it could jut itself out completely Amaris managed to reined her impulse (thank God) and the escalation stopped with the soldiers raising their weapons in anticipation.

"Unfortunately for me and fortunately for you, that man is the one that holds my 'leash'. One word from him and I will gladly continue. One of the three obelisks is already up and I was just about to invoke the second one~"

Whether her words could grant some sense of relief, the soldiers, particularly those at the front did not show it, although there was no hiding it that behind them the common grunts and enlisted alike were hunkering in fear.

The retreating process went along slowly and tight, with Carmen walking cautiously to the gate while looking back occasionally to ensure nobody made a misstep in this already tense situation. Tretagorians tended to do whatever they could to keep their dignity, but they were not unreasonable. Hopefully.

After that long walk, the party retreated back to the woods, thankfully without any accident. Osric was there, and the gun was still pointing at the gate, who remained clear of any soldiers. The fire was still burning and the smoke was still high.

Carmen did not speak much, his eyes were half on her teammates and the wrecked garrison far north as if fearing a company of soldiers emerged to storm them when they were unguarded. Lynx whimpered when he brought her up onto his horse, and even at that, he did not say anything but a few stoic words.

"Keep still, we will look at your wound when we are at a safe distance."

Leading the group, the captain rode forth toward the road.

It was unfortunate that Ludvig left his horse with the group. It could at least minimize the loss they suffered after that chaotic assault, allowing the party to travel at a reliable speed without fearing the pursuit of the enemies they just made. After some galloping and much cantering in and out of the beaten path, the party made their camp inside a suitable clearing in the woods, six leagues east of the Kardag outpost. It was almost midnight, the sky was clear, tranquil even, and they hoped the peace would be reflected in the spot they chose.

After helping Lynx get off his horse and instructing the party to check on her, the Captain fell to the damp, leafy forest floor. Tired and pained, he unstrapped the shield from his arm, inspecting it as he gradually lost in his thoughts. What should they do now?
