Hye-Jin paused in her writing at the offer of Herbology, looking at the other girl with a smile. "Thank you. I can help with Magic history if you are worried too, this book covers Chinese history in fact" she motioned to the ugly old tome on her lap, obviously missing the joke "you will be ok though I think." With that she returned to her studies, and the rest of the train ride went by smoothly, the only sounds from the girl being the odd murmuring as she noted something, as well as the sounds of writing.
Hye-Jin only noticed that the train had arrived when Lauren started moving, clearly very focused on her work. She put her bookmark in on the page she had gotten to on both her notebook and the old tome, closing them and slipping them into her backpack, then collecting the very quiet covered owl cage and put her backpack on before following Lauren out.
As they drew close to the carriages though there was a thud as the Korean girl dropped her bags, eyes widened. She said something in Korean then moved past the people waiting and past the carriages, looking at the empty space that most people could see - except she could see what was pulling them. Someone was shouting at her from atop the carriage but she didn't listen, remaining there for a good few moments before finally being shaken out of it by a teacher who spoke to her quietly. There was a few nods, and a whispered apology, the girl turning back to collect her bags and quickly get onto the carriage. Peeking over the edge and taking out a sketchbook to draw something.
Name: Sarah Ryley Age: 23 Gender: Female Occupation: Engineer with masters in computer sciences and engineering Text colour for posts: ed145b Backstory: Sarah is the child of a military family, the youngest of 4 (3 brothers). Her father was a general in the British army, recently retired with honours, and her mother worked with the Royal Engineers. This meant Sarah grew up with a heavy fixation on health and security, and as she spent more time with her mother than her father she learnt a lot about operating machinery. However her real talent shone through when she was introduced to computers, earning the highest marks in schooling for information technology and qualifying for advanced schooling at a much younger age than expected. Her parents pushed her through technology, hoping for the girl to end up following in their footsteps and joining the military like all 3 of her brother had, albeit on the cyberspace communications side whereas her eldest brother had joined the RAF and the other 2 had already earned ranks within the army by the time she was just finishing her studies at Oxford.
However, with the worlds resources running scarce she found herself pushed more into civilian technology roles on behalf of the Irish government as part of the militaries role of controlling the growing situation beneath the clouds. Thankfully due to her family links she didn't struggle to get resource to spend time below the clouds, and in fact began living there as part of her role, something her father felt offended by as he believed it to be degrading the view of the family.
Sarah's selection into Project Genesis was a surprise, as her name seemed to come up out of nowhere with questionable references, albeit all with a locatable trail that made it hard to doubt. She proved eager and able to complete all the trials presented to her, and within a few weeks of involvement in Project Genesis the girl had helped to stabilise the systems running around the tear, her knowledge of the technology around it being surprisingly high as well as her natural skills at a computer allowing her to spot problems that a team of scientists had previously missed. Her knowledge on the engineering side from her mother proved she could do more than just keep data flowing as well, and Sarah passed all fitness tests at an acceptable level.
Eventually to all but the very highest on the council the unknown nature of her place in the project was forgotten behind a work ethic and a weird quirky nature which lead her to questioning and sometimes changing the direction of plans. She was charming, funny, quite pretty (even if rather odd in her love of hair dye), and had made many friends within the project already. She was ready, but she was still being watched...for now.
While Sarahs sudden appearance on the Genesis tests were a surprise to those on the council, to a group on the surface it was all part of the plan. During her time in Oxford, she met a man called Erik who was also in the same classes as her. They bonded as friends, and through that Sarah learnt of how badly those below were suffering. After a few years, she remained in contact with the man who claimed to have friends that wanted to make life better, and when she returned to living on the surface as part of her government job she joined a group called 'return from the heavens'. ROTH were denoted as a terrorist organisation that wanted to bring the elite above the clouds down and bring control back to the people. Sarah worked as part of the elite hacker group under the codename TCC (The Cornered Cat). The group managed to infiltrate the selection process, and a tiny handful of members had fake recommendations and stories planted to get them through the initial process, with only Sarah managing to pass all the test.
The goal of this? To change humanities course away from the elite and back to those on the surface, because ROTH didn't believe that the Elite would simply allow the plans to benefit all of mankind when they had already commercialised the very air people breathe.
One char sheet, let me know if you want anything changed!

There was a small laugh as the bird protested again, Hye-Jin looking up at the bird once more before returning to her writing.
"I do not understand why Hogwarts is so restricting on studies. I was able to learn Apparition in an advanced class here yet the grounds restrict the ability to use it. They do not allow spell learning without wands, but they must know of it? Maybe it is in books in the library" there was a frown and she looked up at the other girl "between the station and the school is the only time I get to study them more, or at least I do not try to do it more when on the grounds" there was a pause before she added "everyone in my family for the last um...I think 300 years at least has used magic. Maybe there is magic in your family past?"
She paused for a moment, pushing her bag to a side and saying something quietly in Korean as she focused on it. A bottle of water floated up and she grabbed it and drank some as the girl explained her plans.
"I think that is normal is it not? I had plans I thought about before but now they are on hold while my home situation happens. My parents wanted me to follow them after all. I am ready for classes though, except the herb one."

Hye-Jin let the moment linger as she turned back to her book. It was a tough subject for her for numerous reasons, so when the girl replied again to talk about her own summer she was thankful. There was a small laugh when the girl tried to touch her owl and nearly got bitten, saying "she does not seem fond of travelling. First time I travelled with Jae she screeched so loud I learnt how to help her sleep through train rides" she peered over at the covered cage she had put down before looking back Lauren again.
"The summer assignment was too easy, I finished all of them one week after going home. Lucky I still talk with my old teachers at Fenghuang so I could do more work. They do not teach same as Hogwarts though, like mm...I forget the english name" she started to fiddle with her necklace, putting her finger on the gem and speaking a few words which caused it to glow. She then spoke again, and the words "spells without sticks, spells with pictures" followed in a very monotone style translated by the necklace. She let go and let it stop glowing and added "I think that is right. Not that I was allowed to do the second one as it was advanced classes in Fenghuang with requirements that I did not meet."
She picked up her pen and started writing again, before adding "do you feel ready for final year?"
