Bane sighed and said “it’s me, Vos. We hit a bump and the plane went down...everyone is alive but Serena took a few bad hits...fianlly made it to town and I wanted to check in...”

Serena was holding her head as she muttered “just water for me...with mint in it if you can please...” when he walked away she looked at the fox and muttered “thank you...I don’t know what is wrong with me...” she rubbed her head which was still pounding. Her arm killing her too.

Bane frowned and said “there are ways to make you feel human again if you were interested...” he tilted his head at Serena muttered softly “I’m fine...that hurt but I’m fine...” she kept walking and Bane muttered “Toraksui...stay with her...make sure she doesn’t walk into anything else...I’m going to check in with the captain with the phone here...” he headed to the bar as Serena walked to find a table. As she did she didn’t see a guy carrying a pile of dishes in front of her and they were about to run into each other.

Bane found the phone in the back and dialed the number for the captain, waiting for Vos to pick up. “Come on...not voice mail...”

Bane took the lead as they finally got to town, having given Serena his jacket to hide her arm so no one would notice them. She was quiet, her head aching as she tried to sort things out in her head.

Bane stopped suddenly and pointed “we can hang there. I know the owner...” it was a pub called Vikings Axe, and he headed up and opened the door for them to file in. He kept watching the fox and Serena, hoping to think of something to help them both as he shut the door behind them.

Serena didn’t look up and wasn’t watching where she was going and ran into a partly open door, smacking her head hard. She groaned and stepped back, cursing in what sounded like her native tongue again. Bane looked at the other two and muttered “she isn’t okay right? She’s not normally that absent minded...”

Serena nodded and looked up at the sky. “They call for their guardian...I’ll see what I can do with time...let’s get moving...” she turned and started walking and added “we have a mission to finish...”

Bane nodded and said “if that’s what you want...we should get moving. We have a case then we can go back and I’m going to find a better method for that collar...” it wasn’t a question. He headed for the cave opening and saw Serena heading for the way they had planned. “She is in pain...we need to finish this so we can get that arm really checked...”

Serena nodded and muttered “that’s what I’m feeling...they need him back...but how do we fix that...” she wiped her face, the tears still coming. Then she flinched and said “do we just tell him? Would he even believe us...” then she thought and said “there is one he would believe...but I don’t know if I can call her again...”

Bane watched him then said “Toraksui...I don’t think you should give up being the gatekeeper...I think...your sword is telling us the spirits need you back. The fox you used to be...before losing everything...it would explain why Serena feels like she has to help you. She could be feeling the pull. Feeling their needs and yours...I’m not an expert but maybe...they want you to be happy again and the memory is reminding you what it felt like?”

Serena paused and looked at him, her tears streaming down. “What do you mean? You don’t think it was for him? Why would his sword show us his memory if it wasn’t for him...” she flinched and closed her eyes. “His...I think...I’m not sure...but there’s not many choices...”

Bane looked out then said “Toraksui...would you sword show us that...for someone else’s needs? Say...a spirit guardian trying to help a fox gate keeper?”

Bane nodded and folded his arms. “Then think of that poor woman out there. She feels your pain, she’s linked to the supernatural spirits which is you...is there any reason you can think of?”

Serena shook her head and aid “no...but I’ll make it work...let’s just get moving and get the mission over with...that way he can stop being in such pain...” her back was too the droid, a couple tears running down her cheek.

Bane growled and said “when we are put at risk because of it we need to talk about it. She was saying something about if he didn’t come back she was either leaving him or taking her own life...which i think she was leaning to the latter. Which is a normal thing for a soul mate to say...my mate said something similar when I went to war...sadly she died before I got back so just tell us why your sword thinks we needed to see that?”

Bane looked at the droid and said “go check on Serena...she’s hurting out there for some reason...”

Bane looked around and muttered “either his sword is trying to torture him or it’s trying to tell him something...only he knows what it means...” Serena suddenly left the cave in a rush, holding her arm. Bane looked over at the fox and asked “what’s going on? We need to know so we can help, Toraksui...”

Serena stumbled out and leaned against a tree breathing hard. Her sword was still vibrating in its holder and she grabbed it to make it stop. “I know... it I can’t fix what I don’t understand...I’m trying...” she held her head, her head pounding. “His soul is in pain...shake it off come on...I can’t help If I’m feeling the pain...”

Bane fought not to laugh and waved at the kids running by. “You aren’t around kids much are you?” He looked around and said “glad no one cares what we are wearing...” he looked over and Serena was leaning against a house and holding her head.

Bane went over to Torak and said “you okay? Seeing this? And I think something is up with Serena...but why is your sword showing us this?”
