Bane nodded and muttered “we don’t tell vos about this...not a word...” Serena finished her work and her modern outfit appeared again. She stood there panting, dripping in sweat and tears. She glared at the fox and muttered “I think...I can do that...for her...not you after what you...put us thru...a freaking car...”

She stumbled back and her sword fell from her hands, hitting the floor. She looked back at VT and muttered “I called for aid gods...that’s all I can really say...” she swayed and closed her eyes a moment. “Are...you okay...torak...?”

Bane frowned and said “vt, what are her levels now? Hurry”

Bane looked around and said “none that can handle this...” suddenly Serena stood up, somehow carrying the fox with her and her eyes were glowing silver. “I know where to take him...” she took off running, bane and VT running after her. Bane yelled “Serena slowly down! Your hurt yourself!”

They ran till Serena turned into an old temple, looking clean but no one was there. Bane stopped and muttered “hold on...what is she thinking...”

Serena carried the fox into the heart of the small shrine, laying him down and waved hued hands. The candles came to life with silver flames and Serena stood there panting. “Your not dying...the spirits have been screaming at me to bring you back to the light...so your not dying by getting hit by a bloody car!”

Bane and VT made it to the room just as Serena pulled her sword free and held it out. “This would be easier with both blades but I’ll make it work....” she swung the blade and said “I call the goddess Nyx to aid my mission...to bring balance to the realm and to this broken hearted soul...” the room filled with a strong aura and bane took a step back.

Serena closed her eyes and suddenly her clothes changed from Modern combat gear to silver and black robes and armor of the old world. She wbd her hands out and the shadows moved and wrapped around the fox once more, but stronger and with more raw power. They started to heal the fox and Serena opened her eyes.

“Now listen to me, you stubborn gatekeeper...your not dying...your mission is not done...your wife told you that...and I will make sure even if it kills me that I will get you back to the light and the life you had before! I will not let you give up! Now open your eyes dang or I swear I will go to the after life and drag you back kicking!”

Band stared and muttered “the true power of a goddess...she’s no simple guardian..VT what energy levels are you picking up...”

Bane cursed and ran over as well, finishing the burger he had gotten. He moved to blocked the cars and said “serena!” Serena ran over, turning the fox over and said “I don’t see blood but that doesn’t mean much...” she sighed and muttered softly “shadows...take shape...” her shadows moved out of public sight under the foxes clothes to wrap around his body to keep anything from moving or breaking more. She then muttered “repair...” her shadows glowed silver and very slowly started to heal the damage. It would still hurt but it would start to work.

Bane knelt down and said “VT...is he okay?” Serena moved and held toraksuis head on her lap and rested her hand on his face. “Torak? Can you hear me? Please be okay...”

Bane nodded and said “ get some food to go, we still need to eat something...” he started to get up but then looked up. Serena walked out, looking green as she came up to them and muttered “should we get moving? I think I’ll eat later...”

Bane frowned and said “we thought we would get some stuff to go...are you sure...” Serena glared and said “yes...I’m fine...”

Bane frowned and said “what do you mean she’s linked to him? Is that why she’s been so off since last night” he stood and looked around. “Where did she end up...”

Serena was sitting on the floor now, pale and clammy. She coughed weakly and muttered “come serena...push it out...your stronger then this...”

Bane nodded and said “I might have figured out a way to keep you from going back to the shrine...I have to talk to Vos but I think it will work...” Serena suddenly got up and muttered “pardon me a moment...” she slipped out and headed for the bathroom. Bane frowned and went on saying “if the gates are opening we will need you at the base instead of at the shrine...VT? Have we found anything so far on why the gates are breaking now?”

Serena slipped into a stall and bent down, vomiting into the toilet and coughing afterward. She panted, feeling worse then she had been and muttered “it’s not just a imbalance...something is wrong...” she vomited again, her whole body shaking.

Serena covered her mouth to keep from laughing as Bane sighed and said “we will get picked up at midnight tomorrow...so we have today and tomorrow to gather all the info we can...”

Serena nodded and rubbed her temples as her headache got worse. “Let’s get food...we should all eat...” Bane nodded and laid the menu down and looked at Serena. Her eyes were shut as she tried to get the pain to dull at least. She muttered “I’d kill for a burger right now with cheese curds...” Bane smirked and said “I think we can do that...” he looked under the table to check for anything and saw her sword glowing. He tapped Toraksui and nodded to her sword then mouthed so Serena wouldn’t hear “what is her sword doing?”

Bane looked at the phone and muttered “better I not tell her the other stuff yet...I’m it sure he would want the company knowing the memory stuff...” he hung up and headed back to the table.

Serena looked up and muttered “I’ve been off since they took...I mean since I took the job...” bane sat down by Toraksui and said “what’s going on? I called the captain and she’s not happy...that’s not new though”

Serena drank her water, her hand shaking. “Ya...not happy”

He sighed and said “well, the plane was hit when that gate opened, the kitsune saved our necks and we got lost in the woods. I was hit in the back and Serena was tossed around the storage bunker of the plane so we were wounded. Then we had to help Toraksui when his sword acted up...then Serena got worse and we had to camp for the night so we could fox her up enough to travel...this morning it took us a while to find a way to town and now I’m on the phone with you being yelled at for stuff none of us could have helped...did I mention we we blasted out of the sky?”

Serena shook her head and said “I’m not sure what did it but I’ll be fine...please don’t worry...” she was holding her sword which was still glowing and shaking. She knew what was wrong but she couldn’t fix it now. The team needed to focus on the mission, not her inner balance being messed with.
