John nodded and got up saying “turn her on her side, there must be water in her lungs” he landed by Kay and looked at her wounds. Then he saw a shadow around her neck. He blinked then moved her hair so the shadow to could show him the problem. He saw the glass shard and said “hood on love...” he grabbed a towel and then pulled the shard out, pressing the towel to the wound. “Chas? How are we looking?”

Once Chas had her on her side Serena coughed up a lot of water, coughing hard. She groaned and tried to sit up. “Burn...the bag...still...haunted...” John moved Kay into his arms, holding the towel to the wound. “Kay? Kay love come on...”

John smirked and said as he set thing down “she’s not ready to open up yet...but she’s getting there. She just needs time and the space to let her wings out so to speak...” he paused and said “she’s...not like other women I’ve met...”

John ran after John and saw Kay go flying. He looked at he tub and said “seems we need to burn that bag now...” he moved his hand and muttered under his breath and the room flashed white, a banishing charm. When it cleared the force was gone but Serena was still under the water. John rna over and pulled her out, wrapping a towel around her so she was covered. He listened to her chest and said “Chas she’s not breathing! Help me with CPR!”

He looked at Kay and said as he pumped her chest “Kay? Love you alright? Can you hear me?”

John touched his cheek, a little stunned from the kiss. Then he looked at Chas and said “I’ll help ya with those bags, Mate...” he got up and walked into the kitchen with him, hand resting on his cheek. He looked at him and said “okay...from what I have heard, Serena is in more trouble then I thought...it looks like she’s been blocking the power from the Bane to keep her energy levels low enough that she couldn’t be tracked...but they keep finding her. Now why...I can’t figure out. Did she say anything to you about why they are hunting her like Kay?”

Serena was sitting in the bath, her head back and eyes closed. She was taking deep breathes as she slipped into the water more. She had to plan the next move. But what? Then she slipped under the water and got her hair wet to wash it out. But when she tried to sit back up, if felt like something wAs holding her down. She couldn’t get back up. She held her breath so she didn’t get water into her lungs. She started kicking the side of the tub, praying someone would hear her.

Serena smiled and nodded. "Thank you Chas...you are a good guy...and a good father..." She picked up her bag and headed for the bathroom, rubbing her face. Soon she was in the warm water and relaxing, her eyes closed as she let the days of dirt and stress wash away.

John listened carefully then nodded. "Then that's where we start. I'll reach out to my contacts and see what I can learn, and I'll look in my library for answers as well. I'll help you find answers Kay...I promise. But first lets help Chas unload bags and get that phone set up for ya..."

Serena nodded and wiped her face again. “Well? Maybe I’ll take you up on that bath idea...” she pointed to the bags and said “Kay’s phone is in my bag where it got put when we got here...”

John smiled and said “I am just working a puzzle, it’s her life. I don’t want to meddle...” he looked at her and said “what do you want to learn? What do you want to know about anything?”

John smiled at her and nodded. "Just do as I say, not as I do...in the beginning I had no idea what I was doing and became a drunk who had a death wish...if it hadn't been for Chas I would be dead in a hole somewhere or worse...in hell being some demons punching bag..." He sat up more and rolled his neck. "What I am wondering...is how Fee got to the Bane so fast...and...why Serena blocked him in the first place."

Serena listened, holding her arms as he spoke. She nodded and said "Guess we all have to fight of the dark in different ways...the nightmares just keep coming no matter what you do or face..." She closed her eyes and said "I never wanted this...my father was the last vessel and when he died...I became the new one. And the bad thing was I had no idea who my father was...My mother ran from home when she was with child...my father didn't know about me..." She rubbed her face and said "Chas...what I am...what do I do now?"

John moved his hand to tilt hers to look at his face. “Because you need someone to watch your back. I was like you...always going and always running...until I found people I could trust. Like Chas. You don’t have to run anymore...whatever comes, we will beat them back with sticks if we must...take you time with the walls coming down...there’s no rush here...”

Serena looked at Chas, wiping her eyes on her sleeve. “When I was doing my time at a hospital...my second year...I was working to be a ER doctor...then a guy comes in with chest pain...but when we were alone in the room, he changed into a demon. He grabbed me, trying to drain the life out of me. He kept saying I was a never ending power source...the shadows are a never ending battery...I had to grab paddles to shock him off of me. Then I ran...and blocked the link to Bane...I had to do it to save us both...” she covered her face and said “it still wasn’t enough to protect those around me...John got hurt because of it...”

John smirked and popped the candy in his mouth saying “trust me, worse has happened to me love...nothing tht can’t be fixed or undone...” he reached out and took her hand and said “we would notice. The world would notice if it lost a light as bright as yours...you don’t have to hide anymore. Today you showed that your not just a treasure to be found...your also the dragon guarding the treasure...we can get more to your name...”

Serena was still standing in the kitchen, arms wrapped around her middle as silent tears rolled down her face. She had had to play strong and brave till now, now she remembered the own crap load she was being handed. She closed her eye, not hearing Chas come in as she muttered “you won’t be a battery for hell, Serena...it will be okay...get a grip...”

Serena was checking his vitals again as John groaned again and opened his eyes. “Wait...who has my chocolate?” He slowly sat up, Serena helping him to move slow. “Your okay, you fainted from getting up too fast. You need to eat and don’t get up. Kay, you are to make sure he doesn’t move got it? Your my nurse right now...” Serena got up to go the kitchen

John smiled at them and said “sorry...I’m okay I swear...”

Serena stood in the kitchen, her hands shaking badly as she stood in the middle of the room. She looked up, tears starting to roll down her cheeks as her breathing got sharp. “Not again...breath Serena...”

Serena moved over and check John over and smirked. “His alright guys...I think he just fainted from the loss and getting up too fast...” she checked his pulse and nodded. “His heart is fine...Chas, lift his feet. We need to get the blood back to his brain. I think we need to just bring him back around so he can eat something...”

When his feet were raised John groaned, turning his head. Serena smiled and said “Kay, talk to him, help him wake up”
