Serena started to pace and said “I haven’t had one in a while...and last time I drank...which I can’t do anymore because of my powers...too risky...” John leaned back then said “Mate I think your on to something...they may have found Serena first and waited till they were together to attack again...but I have a feeling...Serena is meant to protect Kay. I think they want to get Serena out of the way or use her to turn Kay...”

Serena’s breathing was getting sharper and she said “John...stop...” John looked over and saw her going white and said “crap. Serena you alright love?” Serena shook her head and stumbled on her feet. “I think...I’m crashing...” she fell backward, John jumping up and cursing loudly.

John looked at Chas and said “there is only one way they could be linked. It was the same one who tacked her in the first place that is after Kay now...meaning that whoever is after Kay has been keeping an eye on Serena for a while now. What we have to figure out is why?”

Serena moved to sit on the stool by he table, rubbing her face. “The only thing I can think of is it was only a few months after I started showing the powers I had over shadows...after the attack in the shower is wasn’t even a month that the guy in the ER tried to jump me...”

John leaned back and said “it could be a spell, not a spirit. Some magic spell work uses water for many things, including tracking and holding the target in one place...maybe the spell was in the bag waiting for her energy markers. It would explain a few things...Serena your still shaking”

Serena blinked and looked at her hands then sighed. “It...is messing with me...I haven’t been a huge fan of the water as it is...these attacks don’t help that...” she took her pulse and said “and my heart is racing too...I have to stop it before I trigger something...”

John looked at Chas then looked down at Kay and smiled softly. He moved the blanket so it covered her more as Chas talked to Serena. She looked back and both men saw how tired and stressed she was. "No...sorry guys...its just that tube attack...its not the first time. Last time I was trapped in a shower at the hospital till another doctor came in and smashed the glass...it would have killed me...after the attack in the tub I keep flashing back to it...no matter what defenses I have up...what I fight off...they keep finding me..." John frowned and said "Serena...what happened after the shower attack?"

Serena frowned and then said "I had a panic attack...it lead to me...hyperventilate...and I passed out. If I hadn't been living with my boyfriend at the time...I could have been attacked again" She looked at her hands, they were still shaking. "Crap...it could happen again..."

Serena barely ate the one slice given to her. After the few hours she was at the windows looking out at the street. John was watching her from the couch, sitting next to Kay and had put a blanket over her. He looked at Chas and said “something is up...she’s in her own head. She’s not telling us something else...has she hinted anything that could be bugging her?”

Serena was playing with the pendent around her neck, her eyes dull as she was fighting the shaking.

John saw Kay’s face and walked over, taking the book. “Okay, rest your eyes. Eat your full then you can finish up...” he put the book down then looked at Serena who was still reading.

“Serena? You alright? You still okay?” Serena looked up and nodded. “Ya...just wiped out” John looked at Chas then grabbed a slice and handed it to the vessel. “You need to eat. You need to rest for a bit. I will handle the reading after we all eat and just calm down for a little bit...”

John looked at her and nodded “that’s a good idea, you keep reading in there and I’ll start checking out Apollo...and nyx” he moved so Chas could put the pizza down as Serena followed Chas and sat on the couch, rubbing her face. John moved next to Chas and muttered “it’s not just shock is it? Something else is wrong...”

Serena opened the book again and was trying to read, holding her hands in fists to stop the shaking. She didn’t grab food as the others did.

Serena picked up a book after a bit and went to read in another room. She read till the door knock came and she got up and went to get the pizza. She opened the door and said "Thanks, how much do we owe for the pizza?" She was shaking as she went to her wallet in her pockets, fighting to get her hands to work.

John listened to her and it clicked. "No it makes sense...it explains a lot..." He got up and started to pace as he thought thru it all. "So that explains what is going on...but not why this is all happening now...and we need to figure out how the goddess Nyx plays into all of this..."

John nodded and said "Sounds like a plan. Lets get to work my friends..." He got up and went to pick up books to bring them over to the table. He tossed a book to Chas and was about to toss one to Serena but she wasn't looking at him. John frowned and said "Serena? You alright?" Serena blinked and looked up. "Pardon? Sorry..."

John looked at Chas and "Has she been alright since we pulled her out of the tub?"
