Bane ran with her and said “this explains whys she’s been so off since VT. I thought it was the grief. But she’s been infected for almost a day”

Serena looked at him then she passed out into his arms as the pair ran in. Bane cursed and moved to help lay Serena on her side. “What the heck is that thing? What was it doing to her?”

Dante made her look at him and said “Vos? What happened? What happened in here? Are you alright?”

Serena put the bags in the car and jumped into the car. “Let’s get going” she waved at josh as they pulled away.

Trish stood next to Josh and said “your worried about her. What does your gut say about this mission?”

Bane looked at her then froze. “Oh crap. This happened after we saw Serena’s brother. It either happened there or at that village we went to before…”

It was in deep, the toxin in her spine. It explained the up and downs she had been going thru. And why she seemed so set and stubborn. It was forcing her to work herself to death.

Dante ran to her and knelt down, looking truly worried and panic setting in. “Vos what happened? Are you alright?

Bane nodded and then paused again. “What if…it was what caused VT to shut down? And that thing jumped from the metal body to Serena?”

Serena was shaking and the scent was all over her. The demon bug was in her neck, injecting her with a toxin making her lose control.

Dante cursed and hit the door. “Vos! Vos answer me!”

Serena smiled and kissed him again. She said softly “please be safe…” she then turned and headed down to the car, praying this wasn’t a bad idea to go.

John smirked snd said “since he saw her fight that monster at the morgue…like a puppy smitten”

Bane walked with Maya and part way thru he shook his head. “I don’t have the scent here. Could that demon have gotten Serena when she was out with Torak?”

Dante cursed and said “Vos…do I need to come in and check on you?” He moved his hand to unlock the door, hoping she was alright.

Serena looked at him then nodded softly “alright…I trust you…”

Dante smiled at Maya and said “why don’t you guys search the upper levels and Samuel can use his link to the shadows to search the lower levels. I’m going to check on Vos and make sure it’s not with her” he vanished and Bane nodded. “Torak? If it helps it’s small and it smells like a scout demon. I would check her person and see if it’s on her”

Serena looked confused and asked “what are you talking about Torak?”

Dante appeared outside of the door and knocked “Vos? I’m just checking in on you. We had to lock down the base. It seems a small demon has gotten in…we are handling it. Just give me a sign your safe and alone in there?”

Bane stopped at the door and sniffed. “Hold on…” he stopped the others from going in. “I have a scent. It’s not anyone we know…what is that” he sniffed the ground more and frowned. “We need to shut down the base. We have something in the building. I smell a demon and it’s not Dante”

Serena held her head and said “I just want the truth…I’m sick of being lied too…” she looked at Torak and her eyes were glowing green. She was infected by something.

Dante moved to the controls on the wall by the others and hit the lock down. All doors sealed and shut. “Let’s go demon hunting. I fear this might be why our goddess hasn’t been herself. I sense she’s been infected by the demon…it must have happened in the last day”

Bane cursed and said “she’s looking for her brother. She must want to get that problem off Vos…she doesn’t know what she’s about to walk into” he bolted for the door and out and running full.

Dante looked around and said “why now? She must have a…” he stopped and said “she wants to know the truth…she knows Vos is stressed…one less problem to handle. Come on, we need to go help” Dante ran for the cells and said “Samuel, you came right from the gate right? No side stops?”

Serena cursed and looked at torak. “I didn’t know there were alarms in here…I just wanted to see him…not get him out. I deserve the truth. Vos can’t tell me or VT…I just want the truth” she looked around the names on the screens and said “I have to know the truth…” she was shaking, her eyes dull. Something clearly wasn’t right with her. Nothing to do with her core.

John leaned on the car watching the couple and said “about time he made a move…”

Serena turned when he called her and when he kissed her she kissed him back till he pulled away. She nodded and said “I will…if anything seems off around you, just call Chas. If your in trouble, call Bane and touch a shadow…he will be able to find you”
