Serena cursed and rubbed her face. “Sorry…I’m on edge from this morning. I sent my shadows to watch over John. He just left for some reason…” she took his hand and muttered “we shouldn’t be alone…no one should…”

Trish shook her head and said “neither do I Chas…he wasn’t himself leaving…is it normal for him to just bow to her wishes and just leave? That wasn’t a stubborn move…”

John was half way home when something hit him from behind. He turned sharply and saw a group of guys surrounding him, all their eyes red. John cursed and muttered “bad night to not pay attention dummy…” he looked around and tried to block his link to Kay. He didn’t want her to feel what he had a feeling he was going to go thru.

Midnight paused and said “the locations he sent to you were his ideas of where they could be…it wouldn’t be bad to ask” she sighed and leaned her head back, looking worn out. “It is nice not to wear that bloody voice changer…”

The door opened and Bane poked his head in. “Shall I make breakfast?” Midnight nodded and said “that sounds great thank you Bane”

Serena smiled and took it, slipping it on and held it to her core. “Thank you Josh…how was your day?” She felt the negative auras in the hallway and muttered “shadows guard” a shadow shot off after John and she frowned. She didn’t like what she was sensing.

Trish frowned and said “that doesn’t mean she gets to treat him like a bug under her shoe. His injuries and weak, he shouldn’t be out there alone. After all John did to protect everyone and this house. I can feel how strong the guards are here. He made them that strong because he cares.” She looked at the door with worry.

When Renee walked in Serena folded her arms and muttered “now I get the negative aura…”

John was heading home, deciding drinking at home made the best sense instead of going to a bar in his state. He rubbed his face and muttered “maybe it would be better if I just vanished…then Chas wouldn’t have to deal with me pissing his wife off…” he sighed and put his hands in his pockets, not noticing that he was being followed by a pair of red eyes.

Midnight walked around the desk and said “Information mostly for now…and my senses are telling me there is more to them…a feeling that we will need them in this fight”

She sat down and said “now we know the pattern. We must find the reason. Then, we can find the lost souls.”

John saw her look and said “no…I have something to take care of. The girls should stay…I’ll take off” he kissed Kay and turned to the door. “I’ll see ya later kiddos” he made a beeline to the door and opened it saying “I’ll walk…” he shut the door. Trish frowned and she looked at Chas.

“His aura was off the chart Chas. Why was he so worked up? And upset?”

John pulled her sweatshirt off and put it in the car. “Shouldn’t have gone in…Chas doesn’t need her pissed…” he pulled his collar up and started walking, needing a drink.

Midnight nodded and said “indeed. Every fifty years it’s the same. It’s like a rotation. Which means there’s pattern and a reason for them. Not the level or rank. It’s all what they are. We have a lead now. We have to learn what could need those exact types of creatures and the same thing that changes every time”

She took the pad and set it on the table, rubbed her eyes. “And I’m sorry for not warning you about bringing in the bug…” she looked worn and pulled thin suddenly

Serena nodded weakly and said “don’t worry…I don’t planning on letting this morning ever happen again…” she shivered a little and moved into his chest more.

John raised a hand and said “we didn’t bring anything nasty with us I promise. The girls needed something warm and safe after what we went thru the last two days…and i knew your husband would kick my behind if I didn’t check in…” he looked at Chas and added “and…I thought the girls could be benefitted seeing how a happy family looks…somewhere safe and secure…” he was being honest and it showed. He knew the heck both girls had been thru. Seeing there was good in the world he felt would help them feel safe again.

Serena nodded, looking at him and said “okay…that’s a plan…” she closed her eyes a moment. “It might be from the power I’ve had to use the last few days…”

Trish smiled softly and said “I’m good. It’s been fun having a friend to play with. I’m much better now knowing your all alright…” she looked at John and said “and your okay? Your healed and everything?”

John smirked and said “yes, I’m just fine…” he looked up and said “Hey Renee. Sorry we just popped here. It’s been a long drive…just wanted to check in on everything…” he was making sure the blood wasn’t showing the best he could. Trish smiled at Renee and said “this is Kay, the girl I was telling about. Serena is with Josh in the living room”
