Serena’s eyes glowed and she turned to look at the woman. “Well, if we were asking opinions of closed minded people we would have asked. John left here because of you so I’d keep your mouth shut. He already risked his life for her and myself. Was shot and worse. Kay knows who he is. John more likely is trying to protect her knowing she’s been thru a lot today. He was protecting her from unneeded pain. He left here without fighting you so he didn’t cause more stress to those who love him.” She was shaking with rage, her nerves raw.

John sat in the car and looked at Chas saying “I didn’t want her to feel any more then she has today…I know she would try and come but I knew you guys would…stop her…” he blinked hard as he fought to stay awake.

Bane rolled his neck as the guys were on the ground. “No they aren’t taking the hint…”

Serena smiled and said “knowing John his blocking it just to stop the pain. If he were in real danger he would tell you. Don’t worry the guys will find him I know it”

John could barely walk as they got him to the cab. He was covered in blood and badly. He leaned on the cab and muttered “I didn’t want anyone coming for me Chas…” he stumbled to Josh and swayed badly, blood hitting his lips.

Bane smirked as his eyes glowed silver. “Now shall we speak on your manners?” The remained goons walked towards Bane, not knowing what they were getting into.

Serena put her arm around Serena and said “it will be alright Kay…” she sat her on the stairs and sat next to her. “Go find him guys, I’ll look after Kay” Trish nodded and said “me too”

John was on his knees as the last three guys left stand we slugging him and pinning him. He heard Chas and looked towards the voice “Chas…mate don’t…” the guys turned and the bigger one said “we want the girls. Start talking or the mage gets his neck…” suddenly Chas’s shadow jumped up and slammed into the grunt, throwing him across the alley. The shadow changed and Bane appeared in his human form.

“Chas…thanks for the lift. I couldn’t track John when he blocked the link. Grab the mage and I’ll handle these lads…unless you want to join me?”

Midnight squeaked as he picked her up. “Sorry, my legs didn’t want to move for some reason…”

Midnight walked in and said “morning all…” Bane looked over and said “I am making French toast and eggs and bacon. Sound alright?” Scarlet nodded and said “bane and I did…Iris is stubborn so she refuses to sleep until Dante wakes up”

Serena frowned and said “crap…his not himself” she turned then paused. “And you could be nicer to him…he puts up with a lot” she headed to the door and opened it. “Where is John?”

She walked over and caught Kay. “No Kay. Let the guys get John back. They haven’t been driving all day or having nearly had their cores ripped out or lost all control and killed someone today. Chas will be able to find John faster then you or me. He knows him. And Josh can help him. Kay you need to stay”

Half the gang was on the ground bleeding and groaning; the spirits controlling them banished thanks to john. He was getting beaten by the last few who were bigger then he was, but he was holding his own barely.

Serena got a feeling that made her shake her head and said “something isn’t right…” then she walked to Renee and said “I know we just met, but in the hall just now…did John seem himself? Is that how he normally acts around you?”

Trish nodded and said “we can’t let him be alone. We should go bring him back right?”

When Kay flinched Trish turned and asked “Kay? What’s wrong?”

John was thrown against the stone wall, blood in his mouth as he slid down and fell to his knees. The men kept hitting as the biggest guy grabbed John by the collar and hissed “where is the sunbird and the Night Wolf? Just tell us and this ends…” John frowned at him and said weakly “over…my dead…body…” the grunt smirked and said “head back to the house he came from…maybe his friends will talk more…”

John froze and his mind went blank as rage flooded him. This morning was bad enough losing his control when it came to Kay. But her and Chas? And the kids and Josh and Serena? Even Renee. He wouldn’t let anyone get hurt in his place. He hissed darkly “that…was the wrong order to give mate…”

He muttered a spell under his breath and the grunt suddenly went flying and slammed into trash bins. John landed on his feet and his eyes glowed. “Now I won’t hold back…”

Midnight nodded and said “right…food…that’s a good idea…” but she didn’t move from the spot. She didn’t want to move just yet.

Bane was cooking in the huge kitchen when scarlet came in yawning. He looked up and asked “any change?” Scarlet shook her head and sat down at the counter. “No…Dante still isn’t waking up…Iris is working on it now but she’s going to crash soon…”

After the long minutes she was able to catch her breath again and moved upright a little. “I’m okay now…the pain isn’t as bad…” she looked up and saw how close their faces were. She blushed a little and said “sorry…I didn’t mean to…thank you”

Midnight gasped and shook her head. “No…the smart skin is still there…just hurts badly getting hit…” she closed her eyes tight trying to get a grip on the pain. She lowered her head as the pain made her light headed for a moment.

“Just…don’t move a moment…just keep me upright so I don’t pass out…the pain should fade in a moment…”

Midnight rubbed her eyes as well as holding her wound. “It’s been a long few days to say the least…Bane is a good cook. Scarlet is the chef but I think Iris had to help her sleep so she could still be out for a bit…” she got up and sighed then moved to head to the door. But she stumbled on something on the floor and hit the desk with her bad side, making her hiss and double over, almost falling over.
