I'd choose the 40mm just because I'd think it would kill me instantly rather than burning to death. Neither is survivable with any hit other than an extremely glancing blow.

That in itself is telling, I'd choose the 40mm because it would be a cleaner less painful death and there would be a better chance of me surviving if it didn't hit me in the head or torso.

I actually specifically equipped the Arena with terrain and 'options' to allow people a way to deal with flying characters. This is in addition to specifically equipping the Arena for your match up as the matchmaking put you at an extreme disadvantage. Yes, his character is a hard counter to yours. It is not, however unable to be beaten by you in your current match up.

You can force him into a position where his flight is useless, as well as the tools to outlast his cold making it a wasted expenditure of energy.

I think the start of our fight proved that would be pointless, as his character is quite capable of charging up an attack that can kill Jok instantly if I don't take the fight to her and frankly there is no reason for a flying character to enter the tunnel, though I appreciate the effort (and did note it at first.)
I think you have imagined the scene the other way around, imagine Kanitah lying on his back, Fury is initially kneeling with both legs on Kanitah's left hand side, Kanitah has just had to use his right elbow (rather awkwardly) to stop Fury's own attack from the left hand side. Fury needs to get his left leg around Kanitah's right hand side to obtain the full mount. Meanwhile the only hand Kanitah has free for any sort of offensive strike has just blocked an elbow, and Fury is tight to Kanitah's body making any sort of decent punch difficult anyway.

Check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wYR63ZsbI4 for the reference I used for the takedown.
Fury’s elbow bounced off Kanitah’s defence, protecting the short warrior from a dazing strike to his head. Even while stalemating however the grapple was definitely a position in Fury’s favour, as with every passing moment his energy leeching abilities began to sap Kanitah’s strength. This was not lost on the warrior who had felt the Fireen’s most formidable ability at work before, and Fury expected him to quickly intensify his attempts to escape. Deciding that establishing a better degree of contact was in his favour, Fury immediately attempted to transition after his failed elbow strike into the full mount by sliding his left leg over Kanitah’s body and clamping down on his sides with both knees. He kept his head down and close as possible while doing this, making it highly unlikely that his opponent could deal him a blow while he was moving.
Yeah, everything is as it should be right now.
O.K, in which case though the blow would definitely hurt more than I'd intended it isn't going to obliterate every bone in Fury's right side or anything, because Kanitah didn't really have the space for a full wound up Knee attack, but rather obstructed Fury and used his own momentum as the force of the attack.

As for the burning rings that's fine, it's worth keeping in mind that Fury is almost completely covered in armour though (which is designed to combat burning and energy based assaults, as it was updated by the Angar Ryllans)

Any damage that Fury has sustained will probably come into play if they separate and Fury has a moment to notice how badly he was injured, however it is safe to say that region of his body can be more easily hurt in the near future but it is not broken or dislocated, as he was still able to perform normal functions with it after the grapple.
It makes a lot more sense (and makes them considerably less O.P) if they simply increasing the force of Kanitah's movements by three times what they actually are. Sort of like having a warhammer attached to your limbs, the warhammer makes a fairly powerful human movement into something far more devastating by increasing the pressure of the movement and the weight of the object you're hitting something with.

If they can reflect any force against them then 1. you should have easily beaten Fury in our first fight 2. this fight has become about 5x harder for me.
Wait, so the rings reflect 3x the force of anything that hits them? Because that means Fury would just bounce off, and it also makes Kanitah impervious to physical harm in all of those regions.
That all sounds very familiar.

It reminds me of that Wind guy's character, he won easily because half the characters in the tournament couldn't actually fight him.
