Dead silence, and for good reason. Higan was listening. When one sense fails you fall back on the others, and sometimes what you can hear beats what you can see. Higan’s efforts were rewarded, nothing else would be crazy enough to live in such a vile creature’s lair so there wasn’t any consideration that the sound up ahead was anything other than Slimy. Faint of course, and not altogether pleasant sounding, but audible none-the-less. A little more enthusiastic the Mech started moving again, Higan making some adjustments to make things bearable while it stomped through the cave at a brisk walk. The rifle was once more levelled towards the path ahead, while the left hand remained glued to the Optics protectively. It seemed he had no choice but to pursue the sound, so Higan trudged off in a decisive fashion, scouring the area with what remained of his vision.

Every so often the Mech stopped stock-still and paused, almost as if listening, searching for its prey and confident that if nothing else its path would take it to the surface. Higan was never much fond of caves.
@MelonHead I'm on it.

As he reaches the entrance, Higan will hear faint noises from up ahead, beyond the cave and closer to the surface. Distant sounds of tearing flesh and frantic scrabbling, growing gradually quieter.

@Doc Doctor If you're wondering what this is about, MelonHead sent me a PM with his previous post, in a similar manner to yours. Both sides are now hiding something.

Essentially, I'm the only one with any idea what the hell is going on anymore :D

Cheers, I'm not actually unhappy with this situation, ironically I was the first person to recommend this exact form of fighting a few months back. My only issue was that Doc didn't even bother taking the time to discuss it before completely changing the fight.
It's more that Glass is Softer than Metal. And the sound that reverberates off of it would be different. So with an entity that can ONLY see with sound, it can be used as a stretch to assume that the softer bit is the eyes or at least a vulnerable area.

Doubtful, I highly doubt Doc actually looked into the science behind echolocation and sonar when creating his character, because it's all over the place. Considering its max range the frequency of the creature's echolocation would have to be incredibly low, which is consequently very insensitive, it's unlikely it could discern the very small difference in one small section of sound reflecting upon it. Certainly if it could I'd question why the Pater was never once perturbed by the chain-gun or rifle firing incredibly close to it, which would be easily enough to deafen it and severely disorientate it.

Not to mention, the type of 'Echolocation' his creature uses seems to require no pulse or sound in the first place, which is scientifically impossible. Obviously this was overlooked because it would make it exceedingly easy for my Mech to track his creature while it constantly uses its echolocation. If it instead uses 'Passive Sonar' it could use its ability without making a sound, but passive sonar does not use reflected sound, so the ability to discern the Optics is scientifically unsound.

Nevermind though, I don't expect my opponents to do even a bare minimal amount of research into abilities, though I do find it amusing when they state things so scientifically unsound it's actually painful. Such as his creature's ability to somehow 'see' more clearly when the weapons are firing, when every single piece of evidence would suggest the exact opposite.

Well, as I mentioned I need to wait for @Drifting Pollen to give me any relevant information before my next post.
Poking the eyes out isn't really an insider thing, neither is attacking the back. Just saiyan.

Obviously there's an abundance of eyes made of glass atop a walking block of metal in nature hmm? If you placed a feudal or renaissance man against the Mech there is no way they would guess the glass on top was an eye, certainly not for a long time anyway, they certainly wouldn't do it in fractions of a second, which is round about how long the Pater was directly in contact with the Mech. The Pater made the leap that windows are made from glass and humans stare through windows and that was enough to know that the unnatural metal thing had a person inside and it was using the little glass thing on top to see. For all it knew the Mech may have just been some metal Golem, seeing as how Higan had never projected his voice outside the Mech.

Yes, evidently, though my character has actually launched more close range attacks than your own, lest you forget the rock slam, or the two grapples. Your character has proven either un-hittable or un-stoppable through anything less than bullets because you literally just say 'well the Pater is a master at dodging therefore it escapes'. Besides which it's not exactly rocket science fighting Higan's Mech, it's got incredibly exploitable weak-spots that your character has already worked out using its insider knowledge into Ramor technology.
I was speakin more in regards to debating skill. Though the more I look at this fight the less imbalanced I feel It to be. Like all my characters the Mechs comes with significant weaknesses. Funny that while the Pater should at the very least be more squishy than the Mechs it has taken far less damage from far more potentially lethal attacks. With its super reflexes, practical omniscience and super regeneration it's hardly disadvantaged at all especially as you've just created beneficial terrain at will to stop the Mechs using firearms. Good times.
Experiencing a few technical issues - namely, my computer crashing - but i'll try to have a post up within the day.

That's fine, I know the pain of a computer crashing all too well.
Unfortunately all my subsequent posts will have to wait for Pollen's OK, hopefully they're willing to invest the time.
@MelonHead

Excuses and more excuses. You just hate not having excuses to whine. If venting at me helps relieve that pent up complex, have at it. As as for story, please say no more. Reading your stuff is like looking at an IKEA manual. I don't try to predict outcomes, but I will say that you should be keeping your words soft and unabrasive. If they get shoved back up from whence they came, it won't feel good.

Actually I hate my opponent's complete disrespect in a fight that doesn't even have any ranked merit. Go figure. Continue with your petty insults rather than meaningful debate, I've already established your limitations, you can't disappoint me further.
