I can't believe I've stuck myself with three girls for all of next year who think screaming, shrieking and making sex noises consists of banter. -_-

Bio

Howdy all! I figured it was about time I spruced up my bio section. Or, y'know. Wrote something in it other than WIP.

So! Things to know about my mostly-good self:

I'm a 20 year old female, hailing from a not-so-small town in the north east of England. I'm currently about a third through my second year at Uni, and have made some awesome friends there so far. I also debate. That's always fun - arguing has always been an annoying trait (for others, that is) of mine, so putting it into something one can have on their CV is great. The competitions are super fun too. Anyway, roleplaying.

If you've known me for a short or long while, you'll likely know what an absolute slut for fantasy I am. High fantasy to low, I love those kind of roleplays and will nearly always be interested in new ones that crop up. The same applies for Sci-Fi, but at the moment, I'm not feeling inspiration for a good ol' spacefaring RP. Gotta get the Mass Effect out again, get me craving some Turian booty again. However, I won't go for only these ones. SoL can interest me if they're run properly, alongside horror, mystery, romance, etc. I won't ignore something simply because it doesn't have magic or flying bears in it or something. As for level, I like to consider my writing high-casual to low-advanced. Hopefully others will agree with me on that one, haha. Anyway, here's a list of specific fandoms I enjoy, kind of in order of preference:

  • Lord of the Rings Universe (Including The Hobbit)
  • Dragon Age series
  • Elder Scrolls
  • Mass Effect Trilogy
  • Star Trek (I'd love a Discovery one right now!)
  • Star Wars (Specifically the time around the Prequels; while I shan't get into the whole Prequel/Original war on which is better, roleplaying makes for more excitement in the prequel era. Clone Wars guys, c'mon!)
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Fringe
  • Greek Mythology (PJO, but with the amount of Camp Half-Blood roleplays that have come and gone, I'd prefer one based more on the Original Mythologies)
  • Norse Mythology
  • Marvel
  • Left 4 Dead
  • The Walking Dead (Or any Post-Apocalypse Roleplay, really.)
  • 'A Song of Ice and Fire' Series
  • House of Night Series
  • True Blood
  • Deus Ex
  • Blood Ties
  • The Vampire Diaries (I admittedly abandoned the show and books when the plot got too boring, but I still like the Universe. I'd join a roleplay based in it, if it had original characters, that is.)
  • Pacific Rim

Aaannndd I'll stop the list here before I go on forever. Basically there's a lot, particularly in the realm of fantasy. Hit me up if you want me in your roleplay, of if you'd like to do a 1x1 based around any of those areas, or even some additional ones if you think I'd be interested. I love original plots and Universes too, especially if they're done well.

How about now
ALERT: I did a derp on the skill level section in the OP, so if you've started writing your character already give the skills section another look. Sorry y'all.
@ethanjory

As the Vulcan said, we'll keep you posted. Just keep your Mary-Sues at home. XD
Now re-open for applications due to drop outs.
[The following are extracts of a journal from Guardsman Gregor Tements, 3E 433]

29th Last Seed, Sundas
It was a strange day today. Nothing extremely odd happened, but there were enough instances that, put together, makes you start to think something is going on.

First, we had animals going insane in the city walls. I’m usually greeted in the morning by the crow of the rooster, but there was nothing but silence. All the birds had fled the city – or, were just being so quiet and still that nobody could see them. Of course, I didn’t notice their absence until much later when other strange things began to occur. Pets of the townsfolk were acting crazy, dogs straining on leashes and cats clawing at doors to get outside. I even saw a swarm of rats, swimming through the muck and leaving the city through the cistern.

Things only got stranger when we heard complaints from the local hunters – wildlife is rarely sparse here in Kvatch, even during the cold months of winter… but the hunters said there were no animals for at least 10 miles around the city; no rabbits and empty warrens, no birds and abandoned nests, no deer. One exasperated fellow even noted the lack of butterflies that usually frequented the forests. Wolves and bears were seemingly missing too – we didn’t have one report of an attack all day.

Most of the others are calling me crazy too; just for noticing these strange things happening. ‘Why try to understand beasts?’ They laughed. A mage told me to not worry about them; we can’t understand animals, so why try now because they’re acting out of the ordinary? Another mage said something about the location of the moons affecting them, and then another person joined in talking about the late winter we’d had was doing it all. I left the tavern at this point, not wanting to break up what was turning into an argument between the three while off-duty. As I left, I noticed a strange feeling in the air. Not quite cold, but it still caused me to shudder. There must be a storm on it’s way.

30th Last Seed, Morndas

I’m a fool, a bloody fool… I should have listened to my gut instincts, should have fled the city with all of those damned animals. My family… my family still stuck inside with these monsters! They came in the night, there was nothing anybody could do. And the sky… by the Gods, the sky was the colour of blood. Thunder crashed in the crimson sky, but there was no lightning – no sign of anything worldly amongst that sea of red. Will I ever see the stars again? The sun? I do not know… I don’t know why any of this is happening. How could the gods let the very gates of hell be opened on this earth? How could they let those demons slay our children and raze our homes to the ground?

I do not know… but I know I will not give up easily. I may not see the sunrise on the morn, but I will fight to make damn sure my wife and children will. As I write this, I ready for battle… if there is anything left of Kvatch… of my home… after all of this, and some lucky soul finds this diary, please bring it to my family. I know not when I will see their faces again.

With all the fires raging in the city, and the sky the colour of crimson, one would have considered the temperature to be warm - hot, even. But no - there was a distinct chill in the air, and Naenya couldn't help but wonder if it was the actual weather causing the drop in temperature, or the layer of fear that covered everyone in the Chapel like a thick, smothering blanket. Shivering lightly, Naenya tucked her arms more tightly around her body, surveying the room. There was a hush among the people; as if hoping if they remained quiet the monsters outside would forget about them and go away. A mother shushed her whimpering child; a man in the corner was muttering prayers in an almost feverish manner; the local priest was staring at the stained glass window of Akatosh with a stony expression set in his eyes, as if questioning why this was all happening.

"Well, of course he is. I suppose everyone is..." She mused silently on the situation. While many were no doubt pleading with the Gods for an answer of 'Why', she was thinking more of 'How'. All of her studies into the Daedric realms had told her quite plainly that those gates outside were completely impossible. Well, ones that stable were, anyway. Already she was formulating different theories in her mind as to how it had happened, but even with her chattermouth ways, Naenya knew better than to discuss them with anyone in the Chapel. Too much had been lost... even when she'd run out in the middle of the night she'd felt nought but fear. People being slaughtered all around her, fires raging, that awesomely terrible gate glittering like a giant red eye...

Naenya shivered again, but it had nothing to do with the temperature this time.

Perhaps sensing her discomfort, Bobo pecked lightly at her ear from where he sat upon her shoulder. Or, maybe he was just hungry. Who knew?

“Oh, we’re in quite the mess this time, aren’t we?” She sighed quietly to the magpie, digging through her pocket until she found the little bag of birdseed. He twittered in her ear, hopping about slightly. She had been tempted to let him fly away, perhaps with a message to her father back in Cheydinhal; but she couldn’t risk his life. There has been too many spells and arrows being shot up into the air. Tipping some of the seed into the palm of her hand, Bobo hopped onto her arm and began pecking away quite happily. He seemed to be unaware of their current impending doom – or simply didn’t care about it. Naenya sometimes wished she had the single-mindedness of animals before she remembered she would be unable to read books. What an awful existence that would be.

"For 65 years I've ruled this empire; Generals and Kings have knelt at my command. But a darkness comes. The blood tide rises. These are the closing days of the 3rd Era, and the final hours of my life."

In the shadow of evil
From the ashes of an empire
A hero will rise...

"Find him, and close shut the jaws of Oblivion."

Life to you is simple. Survival is everything, but survival is easy with your particular set of skills, be they hunting, magic... or something more nefarious. Survival means food, warmth, shelter. Food, warmth and shelter means coin, and coin means work. Simple, easy equations to follow in your day to day life. Sure, you may run into the odd mountain lion or troll out on the roads, but this doesn't affect your equation - you know how to kill them. So you do, and on you go - to work, for coin, for survival.

But life has a funny way of changing this equation. Making it far more complicated than one would like - some kind of crisis, for example. And the 3rd Era has not been short of such crises. Even in the beginning, when Tiber Septim conquered all of Tamriel and ascended to the throne - the wars had not been without casualties, and survival for most became a far more complicated manner. Fast forward 400 years, and survival becomes arduous once again. The Nerevarine returns, defeating Dagoth Ur and freeing Vvardenfell- and the world - from his evil grasp. The world appeared to be safe. Evil was vanquished, and the equation became simple once again.

Until now.

Our story begins in a rather familiar spot for those of you who have played the game (Which I do hope you have - you'll be a bit lost otherwise): The Chapel of Akatosh, in the burning city of Kvatch. You will be barricaded in the broken place of worship, surrounded by injured and cowering townsfolk. But you are not cowering - you are stood tall and tense; weapons ready for any foul demon that dares to breach those doors. For you had come to Kvatch to take part in killing for sport in the small arena there - the Count demanded blood to be spilled for his birthday, followed by feasts, alcohol and prizes to the victors. Except now there would be no feast or merriment - just more blood.

You hope the blood will be spilled from the daedra outside, and not yourself. You want that blasted hole of fire to be shut down, but who would be mad enough to go into that, with Gods know what spilling out of it? Not you. Definitely not you. That would make survival... complicated.

The Roleplay:

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen! Many thanks for showing interest in the roleplay, 'tis much appreciated. As you have (hopefully) gathered, our story will be following a group of individuals aiding "The Hero of Kvatch" in their quest to close the doors of Oblivion, and save the world from the clutches of Mehrunes Dagon. While we will attempt to retain a lot of the sandbox style of the actual game, our group will be focusing largely on the Main Quest. However, factions and side-quests will undoubtedly come into it; information about your own character and affiliations to such groups will be discussed below.

The date of the IC will start 30th Last Seed, 3E 433 - 3 days after the assassination of Emperor Uriel VII, and the emancipation of a prisoner, soon to become the Hero of Kvatch.

Rules and Restrictions:

  • Standard guild rules apply; remain respectful to your fellow roleplayers, and if you've got beef with them, take it out of the roleplay, or shoot us a PM regarding your issues. Saying that, trolling, insults, slurs, and the like will not be tolerated in either the OOC or the IC - unless you're in character, of course. Just keep the OOC and IC worlds separated; your issues are not your characters, and vice versa.
  • It should go without saying that Mary/Gary-Sue characters or behaviour will not be allowed. This also includes meta-gaming, god-modding, and over-powered-ness.
  • This is a high-casual roleplay, so correct grammar and spelling would be appreciated. I'm not going to get on your ass about mistakes now and then, but we're all big girls and boys here, we should know the difference between "you're" and "your" in the posts. As for post sizes, just make sure it's more than one tiny paragraph - we're looking for a bit of depth.
  • Please remember that this roleplay requires applications - only post your characters in the characters tab once they've been accepted by myself and the Co-Gm.
  • If you're going to be delayed in writing in a collab, or will be absent for more than two weeks, please let us know. Also, if you're leaving, again, let us know so we're not hanging around for you to post. If nothing is heard from you in the IC in 3 weeks without an explanation (either in the OOC or sent as a PM, I don't mind), your character will be brutally ripped apart by a Daedroth or something.

Character Creation:
  • Please keep names as canons-sounding as possible. I won't allow a Khajiit named Jim, or a Nord named Dallas.
  • Keep ages realistic. If a 15 year old is bounding on into an Oblivion gate, their entrails will be out before they can scream "Mother". Likewise with the elderly. Mer races have far longer lives than the others (Excepting Orcs, who age at the same rate as Man, on average); if you need some clarification, let me know and I'll let you know what the 30-year-old equivalent or something is for a Dunmer.
  • The birthsigns will not give you the abilities granted in the game. We figured that would be better suited for a D&D style roleplay, which this is not. So... I guess this option is just for funsies.
  • Specialisations are in regards to the 3 categories of skills; Combat, Stealth and Magic. If your character has mainly combat skills, select combat. If it's an even mixture of two or all three categories, you can just put mixed.
  • Classes are defined by which skills you have picked; sort of a more defined version of your specialisation. Pre-Made Classes and their attributed skills can be found in this link, but feel free to make your own up - this may be preferable as we've added a few skills to the list. Again, up to you. You can just rip one of the names from this list if you're out of ideas, the skills don't have to match up.
  • A list of skills can be found in the hider below - most you'll recognise, but some have been added by us for realism's sake. Rules in regards to amount and level of said skills are also below.
  • Appearance demands at least two in depth paragraphs. In-depth does not mean long or an essay, I just want a decent description of what they look like. Pictures are optional, please keep in mind that if you do use one it must be realistic art, or a real-life photograph. No caricatures or anime - they have to have some human-like proportions. Unless... they're not human. Um... you get the idea. Written description is still mandatory.
  • Same applies to personality; I want at least 2 paragraphs. And no Sues either, real people have flaws dammit.
  • Backstory; As with all the way through this post, the backstory is important. You don't have to scribe every single detail of their life, but mention the important things; especially in regards to equipment (Specifics mentioned above), affiliations, knowledge, and of course - why they came to Kvatch to beat the shit out of some strangers.
  • I figured a spells option would be handy for any spell users. If they don't have any, leave it blank. Or, put in a picture of our Lord and Saviour Sheogorath - just put it in a hider.
  • I think I've covered inventory well enough. Keep it realistic y'all.

I've tried to make this as clear as I possibly can, but I shall apologise now if some things are awkwardly worded or just over-complicated. Or, not explained at all - I'm happy to take suggestions and constructive criticisms on things to re-word or add.

On that note, if you have any queries, questions, complaints or compliments, feel free to contact myself @MiddleEarthRoze, or the Co-GM @Leos Klien. We'll answer PMs or questions in the OOC - just make sure to tag us when you need something answering, or a CS applying.

@dereken

Ahh... depends. While Skyrim and Oblivion do share a lot of similarities, they are 200 years apart. However, if you feel happy with knowing things from lore, I'm happy too. I'll tag you when the OOC is done, and I'll see from your CS if you'll be okay in the RP. Shouldn't be too different though.
