Based on the TV shows Ghosts (primarily the UK version), four friends move into Button House after one of them inherits it from a distant relative that recently passed (and happens to be the only living relative). Also inhabiting the house are several ghosts, who cannot be seen by the living and are less than please that their quiet life is about to be disturbed by a group of young adults that hope to turn the building into a B&B.
A near-death incident occurs (perhaps caused by one of the ghosts), and suddenly one of the livings can see and talk to the ghosts. Mishaps of the living and ghost kind ensue. The other living characters can either also have a near-death incident throughout the roleplay, or remain unable to see the ghosts. The latter, of course, limits interaction options but invites other plots where they cannot see or interact with the ghosts directly, and perhaps have to communicate in other ways through their ghost powers (which we'll get to).
You do not need to have seen the show to join. Ghosts are from distinct time periods throughout history, with a variety of backgrounds and causes of death. Ghosts remain how they died in both clothes and cause - so if they were shot, for example, they'd still have the wound. Ghosts may also have a 'ghost power' that relates to their death or who they were when they were alive. Perhaps, if they were burnt, a living passing through them causes a strong smell of smoke in the air. You may utilise almost any ghost power from other versions of the show, or come up with your own idea. Ghosts are also unable to cross the boundary of the property they were on when they died.
As the roleplay will be set in the UK like the original series, we will be using time periods of UK history, and limited to one or two ghosts per period so that there's not too many from the same time period. While we won't be using the canon characters, you are more than welcome to use any aspect of them as inspiration for your own characters.
If you are interested, I'd love to know what preliminary ideas you may have in mind, if any. I'd be limiting characters to two ghosts and one living per person. Also the setting will be the same as in the series - the location for Button House being West Horsley Place, if you haven't seen it then I'd definitely recommend looking it up as it's such a stunning place.
My own current ideas that I've managed to narrow down are a Stuart-era Witchfinder General that accuses the livings that become able to see him as witches, an Edwardian era lady that is the ancestor of the new owner of the house (classic), and an Interwar Inspector that was secretly corrupt and killed on the property while investigating a murder. So I'll be deciding two of those lol
Hii I'm MintRolls (or Mint), welcome to my shiny new 1x1 search thread. Feel free to send me a message if anything piques your interest!
To be upfront, I mainly roleplay MxM and FxF pairings - however, I am willing to roleplay MxF (if noted by one of my plot ideas) and I will only roleplay with other adults. Additionally, I am not interested in erp. I don't mind a little smut, but prefer to 'fade to black' more often than not. I like to explore an interesting plot and developing our characters and their relationship.
I don't have huge literacy requirements, just that you can write at least two or three paragraphs per post, and have good grammar/spelling. No text-speak, absolutely no AI. I love to discuss plot ideas and moments OOC, but I am not particularly talkative, so please don't take short responses for disinterest!
I only use realistic face claims or a written description for characters, so I would ask that you do as well. Please note that I am in the UK, so please do not use Imgur because I won't be able to see your images (because it's banned in the UK).
With that out of the way, I have a few plot ideas in mind.
Muse A is the prince of a rich, industrial kingdom, with an impressive mining system, but is gloomy and joyless. Muse B is heir/high ranking noble/peasant of a bright, verdant kingdom, that thrives with forests and greenery. For whatever reason - result of a peace treaty after a war, strengthening kingdom relations, anything we can come up with - the two have been betrothed to one another. To perhaps no surprise, neither party is particularly happy about the arrangement, and their first meeting in a neutral host kingdom is tense. However, over time, as they visit each other's kingdoms and gain an understanding of one another, they begin to oddly find themselves growing closer. Perhaps they stumble upon/discover a deeper plot that will make them choose sides and that they work to prevent it. I would like to play Muse A. MxM or MxF.
A Bridgerton-style plot that has some creative license taken in terms of historical accuracy. Muse A is the only daughter of a Baron & Baroness, making her debut for the season - if, perhaps, two or three years later than would be usual - and is known to be vibrant, more extraverted, than what would be expected of young ladies of society. Perhaps the reason of a delayed debut, is the hushed gossip. Muse B is the eldest child of a Duke & Duchess, and very much the opposite of Muse A. Though Muse B has been a participant of the marriage mart since they were of age, the interest in them was only just because of their money. This year, however, Muse B has been threatened to have their title taken from them if they do not marry by the end of the season. So begins the search. Naturally, Muse A and Muse B meet during the first ball of the season. And although they couldn't be any more different, the spark between them is undeniable. I would like to play Muse A. FxF or FxM.
Time Agents work for an agency that ensure time travellers don't alter or change the past irreparably. Around certain historical events, 'time bubbles' are set up so that anyone who attempts to travel into that moment - certainly without prior authorisation - are transported into a white space, to be apprehended by Time Agents. Muse A is one of these Time Agents. The classic uptight, excellent at their job and no-nonsense. Muse B, on the other hand, is a Time Traveller that consistently ignores (or 'forgets') instructions and gets themselves trapped in time bubbles. They are able to reason themselves out of serious trouble and so aren't stripped of their time travel privileges and sent back to their own time. It gets to the point Muse A is expecting Muse B to be trapped in a time bubble, and perhaps Muse B is deliberately getting themselves caught just to see Muse A. Perhaps the two end up teaming up against an antagonist that is trying to break the timeline and keeps escaping the time bubbles. I would like to play Muse A. FxF or MxM.
Muse A is the captain of a ship, sailing and travelling the world, hunting for treasure and finding adventure, always returning to Saltlook, a well known town that pirates and sailors alike tend to dock, to socialise, rest and trade. Muse B owns one of the taverns in Saltlook. The only tavern that Muse A will visit, bringing with them stories to share - and often a gift for Muse B. The two are good friends, but perhaps there's something a little more there between them... everyone else around them seems to see it, while both Muse A and Muse B are entirely oblivious. After all, Muse A probably has plenty of other, more interesting options while travelling. And surely Muse B wouldn't be interested in someone that won't be settling down in one place any time soon. A story that can be taken in a few different directions. Keep it light and fluffy with two dumbasses that don't realise the other is, in fact, also in love with them, or we can work out a deeper plot, such as a mystery or attack on Saltlook that forces the two to flee? I would like to play Muse A. FxF or MxM. Maybe FxM (but flip the trope, with F being Muse A/The Pirate Captain and M being Muse B/The Tavern Owner).
I also have several general tropes/ideas if any of these spark a new plot idea:
- Heist Crew/Opposing Crime Groups (perhaps facing a common enemy that forces them to work together?) - Bodyguard x Charge (the former hired to protect the latter, who is famous and has been threatened by an unknown person). - Investigators (they are drawn to the same place to investigate some strange happening and have to work together to figure out what is going on). - Vampires (a modern vampire and a traditional vampire, perhaps. Or a human that gets caught up in the mystery of an intriguing stranger. Or a classic vampire and werewolf that are in opposing/feuding groups). - City x Country (a city guy/gal ends up in a small town for one reason or another, for work, visiting family, etc. and meets local beloved ranch owner. You get the idea). - Rock band (two members of the same band, rival bands, band member and journalist). - Basically anything that might force two characters to have to interact and work together, bonus points if they are enemies/rivals to start with. - Mystery/Thriller/Horror vibes are also good, though not necessarily a must. Imminent danger and a sprinkle of angst are always fun though.
I'd be interested in joining! I have an idea for a character that will hopefully work, maybe a popular rich girl that's kind of mean as a defence, but has a secret heart of gold. Either a cheerleader or perhaps a star player in another sport. Secretly a lesbian, does nooot want anyone finding out. Has great potential for character development and working out an arc for I think.
Hi all! I've been a play-by-post roleplayer for several years, with plenty of ideas for roleplays and excited to try my ideas with a new audience and players. Primarily some form of fantasy and/or adventure are my interests, but slice of life, realistic are good too. Looking forward to branching out! ☺️
