I'm excited to see this RP with all these neat characters

Same here I love everyone's characters!
I agree with all that has been said so far ^^
But I will say this before I do my list; I have never done advanced because I don't feel confident in my writing skills- though I like the development those roleplays go into. Anywho, here is MY little pro/con list for ya from experience:

Free Pros:
- Fast paced, keeps the roleplay moving and going within days
- Actual start up time is faster from interest check -> ooc -> ic.
- If you're active online one night, you get to roleplay ALOT
- You don't have to worry too much.

Free Cons:
- Sometimes TOO fast paced, you get left behind- sometimes forgotten.
- If you're NOT active online one night, you get to READ the roleplay ALOT
- You're not worrying and neither is someone else- so they don't care, which sucks.
- One liners... :c
- txt spek &&& comon spelling misteaks!
- Roleplay disbands/dies quickly

Casual Pros:
- Lots of people here to role play with
- Lots of various skills here to role play with
- Matches best with my schedule of 1-2+ posts a day
- Let's me get more creative and in depth with my characters
- Usually some rules placed to help avoid 1 liners, txt speak, god modding, power playing, etc.

Casual Cons:
- Lots of various skills here to roleplay with
- My in depth characters usually don't get used cause at least all the roleplays I have joined die eventually. (days..weeks, months)

In the end, Casual is my favorite section but I do go in Free if I want to just have ALOT of mindless role plays to pass my time while i'm here. I really recommend coming to casual and roleplaying there sometime. It might be scary at first- I know when I first came to the guild I did free and strictly free (Even though I'd write more than 1,2 paragraphs every time I posted) cause I was way too scared to leave those boundaries.. but its not that scary :D and I bet you'll love it.

If anything, come join a role play of mine in the future- cause I'm a pretty friendly and cool GM!
Hmm! My best advice..

Pre-plan but don't plan TOO much. Plot out things but don't plot TOO much.
Because roleplaying is almost like a group weaving of stories- you can't always predict what is going to happen next, and sometimes those things change the entire course of a roleplay.

I think the best way to keep a roleplay active and entertaining is just like improv acting. Never say no, and always take what is happening and run with it. Sure you can turn it around back into the place you want it to go..but you should take 5 minutes and think about what another character has brought to the table- and it can change your whole perspective of the roleplay.

Though my roleplays have never lasted very long, people always comment that I am a wonderful GM because I try to embrace everyone's creativity but still try to hold down a strong plot line and reasoning for things.

I hope that answered your question! Also, another thing I'd like to say is- if your first, second or third time GM'ing doesnt go as planned- its OKAY! Never give up trying to do it. (:

I can see why your character needs a drink then.

Maybe two! Ahaha.
She also just started working as a garbage collector so that doesnt help
Most definitely!

I'm glad I save all my stuff, I can post a little about my rp below and if you have any questions after that; just ask :D
But before I show you all that, GM'ing is a bit scary and complicated at first; but it's just being the leader and main brain of a role play.

Usually when I am GM, I try to create a world where I dont have to push people too much- but when in a rut, I move the group a long the road a bit to help them out. I've ran a few roleplays; some successful, some not very. (: But, i'm still learning, and will probably be hosting one again here real soon.

So my roleplay was called

Wow! Sorry for such a long post, ahaha. But yeah (:
I GM'd a voice acting like roleplay on the old guild before it got shut down. It is a lot of work, but TOTALLY a blast. It was fun to see how alive people's characters became when there was a voice behind it. (: If you were to ever create one, I'd love to join in- and i'd be more than happy to show you the tools and guidelines I used to create mine.
I was dying to be a android/cyborg like girl created by a mad scientist who killed his daughter and made my character as a replacement :c

✗Gender: Female

✗Age: 23

✗Personality: Independent. Sarcastic. Free Spirited. Adventurous. Flirtatious. Hot Tempered.

✗History/Biography: "Momma, when is Papa coming home?"

Evangeline tugged at the corner of her mother's apron. The large, strong woman stared out of the kitchen window with a blank and empty stare. There was no reply. There never would be. It had been an entire year since Evangeline's father had gone to sea. Rumor had it that he made some true riches and left his family behind, off to find something better- if you could call it that. Some claimed he had just died a watery death, like most men did. It wouldn't be the first time news traveled back to their small town of another taken.

A few years before that the Delvine family was happy and complete. Mr. Delvine would go on his trips, come home after many of months with money, treasures, and exciting stories. Evangeline would crawl into her father's strong arms, her large grey eyes looking at him in complete awe as he showcased his life before her. He was her hero, and she was his princess.

Years and years passed and Evangeline got older, the stories still remained in the whispered slurs. "Did you hear her father left the two women alone to fend for themselves? I heard he has a wife and child in every city from here past Rafelia!" These stories brought only anger to Evangeline. She had a feeling her father was alive, and nothing would stop her from proving it. Often being spotted with and around the boys, she spent a lot of time learning to swim, sail, fish, and fight. Though her mother didn't say so directly, Evangeline could feel in her mother's icy stares that she didn't want her only daughter, her only family member left to even think about stepping foot near the water ever again. But time after time and day after day, Evangeline swam, sailed, fished, and fought.

It wasn't a huge surprise when Mrs. Delvine passed away. She was tired, her heart was broken, her will to live was gone. Eva took it upon herself to make a living, taking up jobs here and there to support herself and make her mother rest in her grave easily. That was until she was given the chance to be a cook upon an outgoing ship, boy.. would her mother be thrashing that night! Visiting the cemetery one last time before her departure Evangeline begged for forgiveness, "Momma.. I know you never talked to me after Papa's death. But, I think I know what you wanted to say after all these years.. I love you too, I promise you I will be safe."

And with that, she took to sea.
